I dunno maybe I’m crazy but after you finished rubbing it in I thought your skin looked so healthy and really pretty. I mean your skin always looks pretty but I honestly thought the Flex looked nice!
I know it was two years since this video but it’s really the best one I had a question did you try to mix the flex and the classic for less glowy look 😅
I know this review is two years old, but just watching it now, as I have been to figure out if I should purchase the Flex or the Glow. Thank you for clarifying that the Flex has iron oxides. I wasn't aware of that and that helped me to make my decision to purchase the flex.
The Flex/Glow combo really works for you! Oddly, that's one combination I haven't tried, so thanks for the inspiration. The Flex doesn't work for me alone either, sadly. The Fair is a little too pale/flat, and the Medium oxidizes very dark and orange. Plus it's thicker and harder to work with IMO compared to the other formulas. I sometimes mix the Flex with the Classic. The Glow can work in the winter to brighten my face, but I add a good layer of Jane Iredale powder foundation to really tone down that gleam. I joke that I feel like the tin man at first too! But my favorite is the Original/Classic, and I think you might really like that one. Thin and runny like the Glow. It has an odd light pinkish color to it right out of the bottle, but it's translucent and I assume it's meant to moderate the white cast. Note that the finish and texture is a little more dewy & hydrating than the Glow, but again, I apply powder foundation over it. The Classic and Glow keep my skin clearest, whereas the thicker Flex seemed to clog my pores a little.
I had been wondering about these new formulas. I bought the old, original formula last October and like it. It's not holy grail status, but it's nice-ish and wearable in lieu of foundation some days. This is so helpful. Glad you found a way to make them work for you.
Metallic is right! I got the glow one and though I had a defective one or something cause it was sooo glowly and oily. I put powder on top and made the mistake of then going out, I looked crazy 😅. Good to know it’s not just me.
Thanks so much for doing this!! I actually really love the glow! And I do use it as a highlight because I like to keep it simple with no makeup. I just use the bronze and then glow where I want to “highlight” and then I’m done!
Mix the fair and medium Flex shades and it’s great! Agree, Colorescience needs a shade btwn the fair and medium, but certainly appreciate the uniqueness and skincare benefits of this sunscreen.
Kait, I would love to see your views on Illia Super serum skin tint spf 40. Love your videos and would appreciate more clean, green makeup lines like the Fitglow reviews you’ve done. Thanks!
So glad I found you - this was super helpful! Thank you so much. (Btw, I feel ya on the dog hair... especially nice when it gets caught in lashes and you can’t see it! Oh well, the puppy-loves are worth it.)
Like you I was not a good match for the shade I thought I'd be (medium) so I bought the tan and mixed the two shades and it looked much more close to my actual skin tone. I've also had better luck warming the lotion up in my hands (til I see the color I want) and then applying it to my face, otherwise it just didn't have enough movement - seems you were having the same experience. You really look great with the Flex/Glow mix, glad you found something to make these work - they're great sunscreens!
Hey Sunscreen Queen, have you tried any of the Coola sunscreens? I love both the face tinted sunscreen and their body sunscreen in pina colada... delish!
Thank you for this. Colors science is having a sale and I wondered about the glow. I have to mix the light and medium flex to get the correct shade, but I find it to be too glowy. It’s still cool out, so it could be the moisturizer and oil I use. Powder over it is marginal. But, I may buy the bronze to so I don’t compromise protection during summer.
LOL! So funny...I was staying at a friend's who had this and I used the glow as a highlighter...it was evening so I did not even need sunscreen. It looked really pretty, actually. I wish they sold it in a small size--I would definitely buy it just for the highlighting.
I bought the glow. I thought it looks a little shiny and reflective with greasy and moisture. However, I found that it is shimmery, not growy. Why not telling us it contains lots of shining particles that make it very shimmery. Shimmery as a sunscreen is not okay! It is mis -advertised.
Hi Kait, have you tried the Biossance sunscreen? Its AMAZING!!! Best texture, no white cast and I mean none, hydrating and it gives the prettiest glow. I think you would really love it.🥰
@@StateofKait Its great for my dry skin the finish reminds me of the kinship sunscreen but the texture is so much better, dissappear into the skin in 10 seconds and I put on a crapload!!!😊
I’m looking for a sunscreen for my 22 year old daughter who’s wanting to wear sunscreen but she can’t find one that doesn’t give her little bumps, like the Cereve AM formula, but I see it’s chemical and physical. She has acne prone skin but everything dries her out too. Trying to find something that works, isn’t heavy and greasy, but also isn’t drying. She doesn’t wear foundation so no worries about laying (I would have to consider how things wear underneath makeup). I like Elta MD clear, regular and tinted, but they pill over certain skincare (usually when I put on a serum). And I really like the tinted SPF 41 in the tube - it’s not too shiny, and if anything would be on the dry side (when I have dry patches from retinols, etc.). Why is choosing a sunscreen so hard? Used to be whatever was cheapest. I have cat hair and dog hair fly around on my face every day and it tickles!!
Thanks for the video. I plan to buy this after my elta md finished. Cause it has iron oxide benefit in it. For me, you look good on the flex one. Your skin appear healthy. Regards from Indonesia
I love how dewy you skin looks like with the glow sunscreen underneath the make-up. Thank you for this helpfull video. I will try mix my tan flex with the glow one. xD
Hey Kate I was curious to find out how come these sunscreens are SPF 50 when the main ingredient zinc oxide % is just 12%?? I thought for an effective mineral SPF, zinc oxide % should at least be close to 20%? Would really appreciate your thoughts on this!
I WISH I knew the answer. Most dermatologists seem to say that a higher SPF is what's more important. My boyfriend's Mom who has battled several rounds of skin cancer and done decades of research and met with the country's best derms says the contrary - that the higher the zinc % the better, but I just can't find the data on that. All I know is what I see in my skin, which is that when I use a sunscreen with 20% zinc oxide, I see less sun damage. But Dr. Dray has videos that say you can have less zinc oxide but more protection due "to the way it's formulated" but she doesn't explain how and it drives me crazy.
this is super late, but have you ever tried the colorescience sunforgettable total face shield classic? to me it’s kind of like a mix between the flex and the glow sunscreens, not matte or thick like the flex but not super shiny like the glow either. The only downside is that it only comes in one shade, but it’s pretty sheer at least.
Yes, I didn't like it! It looked pretty white on me and all of the sunforgettable products emphasized texture on my face so I just don't use them anymore
Agree the glow is like the Hollywood flawless filter, which I also could not make work for me. Too bad as the ingredients are good. I really like beauty by earth, kinship and dr. Dennis Gross! On another note, I also didn’t care for the colorscience total eye, but love the Jane Iredale eye that’s essentially he same thing, but just works better for me.
Good video. I won the flex fair in a giveaway and I am so glad I didn’t buy it. Actually I wouldn’t have bought it as I was too sceptical. I got the fair too and it is a perfect match for my neck. On my face somehow like you it seems like it is too light somehow and makes me look hella flat! I’ve used the Paula’s choice mineral 30 and Australian gold fair 50 and neither of them make me look flat like that. I don’t really wear makeup either. I think i might just wear it at home on weekends or something when I’m not going out 😂. Also when you combined it it did look best.
@@StateofKait I just did my evening cleanse and was happy to see my face again haha. I actually really didn't get on with this. It seemed to clog in places looking powdery. Really sat into my fine lines. And also, I ended up with a kind of shiny face over the day even though it is winter and I just stayed at home. I have oily/combo skin so I guess I get on better with something to combat that better. As for making my face look flat... now I think it is just because it's almost full coverage. It is still buildable, but it is the same reason I don't like foundations as my whole face ends up looking one colour so it takes the dimension away from my face. I think with other tinted spfs I've used (as above and also Ultra violette zinc only) the tint is more to help offset the white cast rather than act like 'make up'. Like you say, it is an expensive one as well. Of course, I think it can be hard to make one that suits all skin tones and skin types.
Could you please review Dr Sam Bunting tinted spf? Dr Sam Bunting is a dermatologist who has a medical practice in the UK. She is fair skin and has some skin issues like redness, this is my skin type also. I have a hard time finding a tinted spf that is tailored for fair complexions. I would like you to review this because you do a through job testing product, and you’re truthful. There’s a lack of truthful reviews due to the reviewer getting a kickback from giving all positive reviews, even if the reviewer did not love the product. 🙏 Thanks!
@@StateofKait why don’t you have interest in nano zinc? I know what it means, that it’s small particles, but is it because if sinks in and doesn’t protect as well? I’m glad I read this because I was just looking at a nano one.
I think you may be applying a little to much 😬 This stuff is amazing for people that want to wear this as your sunscreen and foundation in one👍🏽 I love this formula 🎉
I have very dry skin and I was using Supergoop but I got this instead and I love the glow and it looks good on me but to each its own! That was a very good representation!
@@StateofKait you said you didn’t think you could just wear the glow by itself and look good ..you looked great .. very healthy and natural .. and then at the end you said you looked “metallic” I think when you mixed .. it looked like you had been in the sun and had gone for a run .. that’s a great look .. (I’m a running coach soooo)
