The 5015 has no independent subwoofer out. Just 2 paralleled connectors, but they aren't controlled independently, unfortunately. If someone (like me) want independent sub outs, the lowest option is the 6015.
@@juandoe7802 Sorry, didn't get notification of your reply. What do you mean? The independently controlled subwoofers? If you are in home theatre in the last few years, you may know that the recommendation is at least two subs. The THX recommendation is 4 subs, one in the middle of each wall. You can control the subs separatle on each subs' back panel (phase and gain mostly), but that isn't too accurate. Modern and expensive subs has built-in calibration, but whan you don't have such sub, you may want to calibrate somehow too. There are other solutions, but in higher range Denon and Marantz AVRs Audyssey has a function which does that for you. If you have independent sub outputs. When you have a dedicated home theatre room, you may be able to place even one subwoofer in an optimal place and get great sound from it. But for most of us, we have a living room which we transform into a media room with a sound system, but mostly aesthetics are a factor there especially when you hage a wife, so speaker placment rarely optimal. That's why we need room and subwoofer calibration if we can have it. Hope I answered your questoon, but if not, feel free to ask.
My dad has the "Marantz SR5009" , its a lovely product for sure ❤️❤️, it goes well with our front left and right , center and subwoofer "Polk Audio" speakers and "Wharfedale" surrounds ❤️❤️🤟🤟
Great overview! Explained the critical differences between the models while still keeping it accessible for mainstream users. I found this very useful. Thanks.
Not long ago i picked up a used SR 5007 on marketplace for $200. It's compatible with the 4k tech of today. as for the look of it. you either love that Marantz circle or you hate it. I LOVE IT !! I love the look of the Marantz and all of its features. i have only had to use my tv to run the audacy program. everything else is manageable/programmable just looking at the circle and using the remote. especially if you're a regular with previous AVR tech. they all pretty much run the same features. you can also manually adjust output levels, speaker distance etc, ALL from the circle with no need of tv. the remote is as user friendly as it gets. It has all of the different Dolby and DTS modes for movie, gaming etc. I like the DTS NEO M mode best on films. The Marantz sounds excellent on modern types of music, if you're mainly into hip hop and pop, with one subwoofer, much less two, you're going to love the SR sound. but i prefer to pre amp out to my soundcraftsman or Kenwood for most types of classic rock, pop and country music. which is also another great feature of this Marantz. Some have it. some dont. Honestly im in the camp where an AVR will never sound as good musically as separates to me, but this sounds as sweet as any AVR i've heard. Not hard hitting power at low volumes, in the morning, but still enough bottom end so my subwoofers dont keep shutting off. My particular Sr5007 is 100w per channel with discrete amps for every channel. 2 12" Klipsch subwoofers , And i have Klipsch RF 82speakers as mains, and various speakers , but usually RB 81's for rears, so the Marantz has plenty of power for me. It definitely has "next time we're going to issue you a ticket for disturbing the peace, open container and disorderly conduct Sir" kind of power, but i didn't go past 88.5, to see if it had "Dude, your roof is falling in" potential. Great sound. Plenty of power at the 100w model. Easy to navigate. All the latest tech features. what more could you want.
If I heard you correctly, you said the all the new SR Series have the toroidal transformer. My understanding is that only SR8012 and SR8015 have the toroidal transformer? Could you elaborate on that? Thanks
No as per marantz website not all SR series have copper plated chassis and toroidal transformers. These guys have blindly read the script provided by someone with no proper research. If you are unsure of anything better don’t say anything about it. This is false advertising. People always refer to the manufacturer website and choose the model to buy and read the specification. @audio advice.. guess you are paid to upload this video with false info. Thumbsdown
@@kishorechander You are 100% correct. We appreciate you pointing it out. We were given bad information in a "why Marantz is better than Denon" powerpoint and used that for our data. We have removed the portion from this video that refers to the transformers and copper chassis as we only want to put out accurate information. Thanks again
Fantastic overview! I talked at length with B&H earlier today, who sold me on the 5015. Now, I'm realizing that the IMAX features and the Audyssey upgrade aren't available until I step up to the 6015! 🤦♂️
It has a hand shaking problem when closing a 4K/24K or 25K file back to a 60hz desktop. There are other combinations which do not work causing the amp to need re-booting.
Great question! We could use some more information about your setup to help you make the best decision for your room's acoustics. Please feel free to reach out to us in chat at audioadvice.io/aa-chat so we can help you narrow down the choices for the best audio performance. Thank you so much for watching.
As riikerman said, speakers has a great amount in overall performance, TV has almost nothing to do with it if you are asking about receivers, but a good amplifier is essential for a good speaker to sound great. Here in hungary the Yamaha A2A isn't on market, maybe with another number, but yamaha needs a yamaha taste. If you like that sound, probably you'll be happy with that receiver too. But for a comparison, yamaha's room correction isn't that great, reviews say much better about Audyssey (in the Denon and Marantz). But I'm pretty sure, without the auto room correction, you can make both amps sound great. Here the Denon X2700 and the Marantz SR5015 isn't in the same price range, later is about 30% more expensive... so I tihnk that gives the answer already. But for some other opinion, they say Marantzs has more detailed sound and the SR5015 has preamp outputs, for a later upgrade. The Denon still is a great amp, and if you like more analytic sound, usually the Denons win over Marantzs in pure, measured sound fidelity. But don't forget, all of this year's receivers has a failty HDMI2.1 chip, so if you are planning to use an Xbox os PS5 in 4K@120Hz with 4:4:4 color coding, you might be disappointed. In every other mode they are perfect, just with the new consoles' high framerate modes have problems.
The only unit that has a toroidal transformer is their flagship model SR8015 at $3,300.00. Please make this correction as you are misinforming people. C'mon guys. Otherwise decent info. I'd like to see all of the models next to each other with the top covers off so we can see the guts of the units. It would serve as an excellent visual que to show the value as you move up the line, such as the size of the capacitors, heat sinks and the transformers each unit utilizes.
Apart from lesser channels and power, is the 5015 on par with 6015 or 8015 on audio and video quality? Does it use the same high quality components found in 8015?
I don't care about how it looks as long the performance and functionality is good, for me the small display on the 5015,6015 etc. is a deal breaker that is not good functionality. Have they solved the issue with 120Hz over 4K for PS5 and Xbox series X yet ?
Hi, I currently have a 7.1.2 configuration with focal aria series throughout. Will the 6015 be able to power them sufficiently or is a power amp necessary
That will depend on the size of your room and listening tastes, subwoofers also help with power demands. For great two channel you might want to add a power amp to the front two speakers. Thanks for watching
I'm new to AVR. I want one to enjoy some music and connect my PC via HDMI to play games. Should i take Marantz SR5015 or Denon x2700h ? I know the marantz is more expensive, but i realy like music and i dont mind paying more if i get some value out if my money. Great reviews btw.
@@HumblePeon2 I also consider the Cambridge Audio cxa61 or cxa81. For now i only have a 2.1 setup, but i'll most likely go for a 5.1.2 setup. For now, Denon is out of the equation, since it seems to lack of musical finess. It will be either a Marantz SR5015 or something like an Anthem MRX 540 connected to a cxa61 to drive the 2 front speakers. I read alot about Anthem recently and i would be proud to have one since i'm a canadien. From what i've read, the Anthem MRX 540 can process 7 speakers, but it can only amplify 5 of thems. With the MRX 540, you can rerout the 2 front speakers into an other amp in order to drive all your 7 speakers (5.1.2). Therefore, the cxa61 seems to be a very good option to acheive this task. I have a question. Will the cxa61 be that much better than a Marantz SR5015 for my 2 front speakers ? It have a toroidal power supply and vitualy no distorsion, but do you think it worth it ? Even if it imply to delai my 5.1.2 setup, once i pair it with the Anthem ? PS. I can already have the 5.1 setup since my mother have somes speakers that she doesn't use.
@@lucgagnon7169 To be frank you I am not an expert, but I do have a Cambridge Audio CXA80 driving KEF Q350s for my PC set up. I'm super happy with that. I can tell you that the CXA81 has an upgraded DAC and from memory 80W so I would guess it should drive your front speakers without needing a separate amp. For your other questions, I am not that knowledgeable, so I don't want to give you a wrong answer.
@@lucgagnon7169 I just looked into the Marantz you suggested - it does seem to be a better fit than the Cambridge DAC/Amp that I suggested if you want to be ready for when you go to 5.1.2 setup.
I have been looking for a new AVR for my theater that has 4k-8k for movies, tv, internet, music, and gaming. I have PS3, PS4 pro 4k, and PS5 4k that my AVR Denon X2600H has a 4k and it will not let me use PS4 pro 4k and PS5 4k enhanced was because I just found out that my AVR Denon X2600H have 4k/ 60fp which is lower. I am looking AVR that has 4k/120hz that will allow using of 4k gaming for PS4 Pro and PS5 4k gaming.
Yes, you need a new model that can do HDMI 2.1 OR...if your TV is newer and has eARC you could just connect both of your 4k/120hz capable gaming systems to the TV and use the eARC connection on the Denon to pass the audio through non compressed. That is a good work around. Thanks for watching
yes,as long the movie has dolby atmos sound format, and you have av receiver with dolby atmos decoder, and you must connect your smart tv to av receiver using hdmi cable (not optical or coaxial)
There are many possible speaker choices that would match up well with your new 6015. Please reach out to our team at www.audioadvice.com to discuss your options.
But no 4k/120. I love Marantz thought, I have a 7013 and Thank God I didn't upgrade. Blew Up. This a sales pitch or what? 8k content..... man. They taught him well, this is 3 days ago, and last friday we found out 4k/120 isn't going to be possible even though the unit says it can do it. Steer clear until 2021/2022.
If I had a 7013 I wouldn't upgrade for just a valueless 8K pr 4K@120Hz support either. 8K probably will never penetrate the market well enough to be a significant part. But just to be clear, only the 4K@120Hz with 4:4:4 color coding is faulty in this year's receivers (not just Marantz, but Denon and Yamaha too, Onkyo didn't even came out with a new receiver as I remember, maybe because of this issue). Maranrtz published a workaround, if you change the color to 4:2:0 (which your eyes won't ever notice) the 120Hz works perfectly. But yes, if someone want a "perfect" receiver, they should wait for the next generation.
@@TalkCafe That's exactly the case, bullseye. People always in a rush to get the best of the best for really no apparent reason. Like Apple's iphone, i got the 11..but now the 12 is out and it's .5 seconds faster. the camera is different and amazing. you get the point XD Fundamentally, if you are really into your receiver so much what's the issue with streaming. It's not as vivid wow.. well do you have that 2000 dollar TV that's 65" to even really be able to pick up the maximum difference. Second being sound, and yes 4k blu ray is way better when it comes to sound, yet you didn't even buy seperates so sound isn't probably really the number one thing on your mind t.t
Greetings! The answer will depend on the next-gen gaming console. Since Sony uses their own tech (Tempest 3D), it will still work with receivers and other gear with height capabilities. If you're on PS5, like almost every AVR currently out right now, these might not show the indicator light for Atmos, but it will still work with your Dolby Atmos equipment. Xbox Series X, on the other hand, has Atmos, so everything will work exactly as expected. Take a look at our other video on Essential Audio Gear for High-Performance Gaming for more on this topic - www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/high-performance-audio-video-essentials-for-gaming/
I think you are referring to the known issue with new consoles' 4K@120Hz display modes. Yes, that problem still exists. Marantz published a workaround to be able to use high framerate, but with less accurate (but still unnoticable) color. Till they come up with a solution. But experts say they won't. Looks like the only correction would be the hardware replacement.
The only way to do it would be to add a separate power amp and put the EQ in between the preamp outs and the amplifier in. We don’t really know why you would want to do this since the 5015 has Audyssey built-in.
Yes, it is a good idea to make sure there are not a lot of other units on the same breaker. Check out our article on home theater electrical www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/home-theater-electrical-considerations/
I don't regret easily! but what a bad amp this thing is! SR6008, has been checked three times, the first time replacing a card costs 18 euros, but checking it costs a lot of money, then you hope that everything works, but no, it goes out when switched on, and if it stays on you hear a click and you can use it. while playing music it goes off again, factory settings and reset everything again, the seller came to look at home, everything okay, turned it on and went out, I gave it a slap and play for weeks and then the misery starts again, what a hopeless thing this is! there are a lot of them on the marketplace and I get it! I will not pay more for this amp what a mess ! are there more people with this problem ?
Sorry you are having issues. Marantz gear is usually trouble free. It sounds like from your description, you have a unit that was dropped in shipping. You are describing what is likely a hairline facture in a circuit board somewhere.
I have this receiver but want to purchase the B&W 603S anniversary floor speakers. What power amp would You recommend i to hook up to this receiver? @audioadvice
