I just bought the elgato facecam think it was the safest choice for webcam for all you looking. It wont have a mic but picture quality is worth the trade
Thank you very much, this is some highest quality content here! The amount of work you put into this review is simply astounding and you've got less than 400 likes so far, wtf?!
Razer seemed pretty consistent across all areas except the HDR in light haha. Razer looked like it gave a nice smooth filter throughout the tests. Dell was pretty good throughout except with low light. The noise appears to be a tremendous difference while low light. In the case of Software, dell seems to come out on top. I had Razor products and the software kept messing up my computer and product. I would probably choose Dell because of the software and seemed to do better with proper lighting.
Great comparison. It’s interesting to see how much more light the Razer shows in low-light and high-light situations. Overall though, the Dell 4K seems like a great all-around webcam. But, I’m not sure the price is worth it?
Great review but I think comparing the dell using the 4k would be better then 1080 vs 1080 because you would be using the best of what the dell have. I would love to see a comparison for Dell 4k vs Elgato Facecam. Thanks!
In case of DELL Ultra 4k: I have noticed that in HDR mode the picture quality goes down in comparison with HDR off (gets more cubics and looks low quality). I hav enoticed it on video (in one part of demo) here and personally testing it. Any explanation for it. Can it be improved?
Great work on this review! I've been watching quite a few webcam reviews, by far the most introspective and fair comparison I've found so far, thank you. Looks like we will be making a decision to go with the Razer based on our setup. Thank you again!
Oh man - I was hoping with that much length, it would have offer some bokeh effect. Do you know of any webcams that provide a natural bokeh effect? I’m tired of background-blurring softwares not being able to distinguish the boundary with my shiny bald head and blurring part of my face. And I don’t wanna use a DSLR as a dedicated webcam. Suggestions?
The Elgato Facecam uses this same sensor and with a fixed-focus lens has a slight amount of bokeh. Other than that I think you have to go for large sensor like a Cannon m50 - mirrorless - and not cheap - to get bokeh. The physics simply require a large sensor that you can't get in a small webcam.
The Razor Kiyo Pro , i got it Brand New On Ebay for under 85 dollars that is including Taxes and Shipping , which i think the Shipping may have been free , the only thing i can think why i got maybe so cheap , the person didn't know what they had , i am guessing that they may have got the Razor Kiyo Pro like a Prize or may as a gift , and just wanted a little money fast i guess? I really like this webcam , it is a much better Cam then my LogiTech C510 webcam , which i have gotten a lot use from it , and i will for a time there is some video production i will be using for a little while longer , but i think the Razor Kiyo Pro , i will be using it more and more .
The Razer seems unusable without hdr mode turned on. Why the super flat washed out image? Dell got smoked in the low light, presumably because the pixels are 1/4 the size of the Razer.
the 30 Fps on the dell looks awful most devices will have a 1080p screen anyway so to get a 4k cam is over kill I rather go for better framerate I just wish the other cameras had windows hello I think this is a software thing that easily can be fixed my developers
I have the dell and did the test in obs of running 1080 vs 4k. even thou my stream is set to 1080, my can setting was set to 4k in obs. After comparing the VOD's in the live stream. The 4k looked much better.
Bad quality in low light (Dell) is a serious cons. "Home" conditions are always worse than studio light, so there is big chance your video will suffer from colored noise. From other side absolutely terrible focusing on Razer also deal breaker - who will jump around focusing when you record video?? So BOTH cams are crp, just don't buy them.
