Hi Audio Electronics. Thank you for your inquiry. The American version of the Denon AV processor amplifier is the AVR. The European version is the AVC. It is actually not technically a receiver anymore since it doesn't contain a FM/AM tuner. I am also still battling with the concept of not referring to it as a receiver anymore. Enjoy 😉 thanks great to be back!
Wow!! Very happy you guys are back 👍🎵🎶 Missed the videos. Thanks for a great review and now I know which receiver supports hdmi 2.1 since I am getting the PS5 and likely a new TV with hdmi 2.1.
Hello, I have "sony str-dn1080". The heating of the device bothers me. Does this device get hot? Does the assigned "phono" entry work well? I am a physical media collector. I love listening to vinyl, cassettes, cd, sacd and watching 4k bluray, vhs. Is legacy technology (vhs, tape) support good? Greetings from Turkey 🇹🇷
Yes !! This 4700h get hot as hell. As with all denon avrs. You can fry an egg on this unit. Im coming from pioneers avr over the yrs and they are cool to the touch. I had to get a cooling fan because there is no way this avr will not overheat. Especially if you have it in a cabinet
I've had several AVRs from budget to premium. I'll Always Remember The Sound of the Sony STR dn1080... considering it's only a budget receiver, it certainly has a wonderful 2-channel sound, a slight coloration but punchy plus agile and very pleasurable to listen to! In fact when it came to the sound of its 2-channel (music) I actually prefered the sound of the budget Sony over the mid price Denon 6500. 😲
Very informative review, just wondering as I'm looking at the Denon X4700H receiver, how far can the measurement mic go in metres? I would be listening some 8 metres away and the speakers at the front would be 5 metres apart, would the cable be long enough to measure such a distance? I may at some point move to even further back in a larger space in my home so hence wondered how long the measurement mic cable is and what the max distance for the X4700H system is... My system if I go ahead will be initially 5.2, then possibly 7.2 at a later date.
Hi Adam, thank you for feedback much appreciated. I did not measure the length of the measurement mic cable, but it is surely around 6 meters in length. As a workaround you can perhaps move the 4700H closer to the measurement area - if the speaker cables will allow or you can extend the mic cable with an off the shelf 3.5mm stereo jack male to female extension cord. Sounds like a very large room - but I am sure you are going to enjoy the setup !
Hello. I have a question. If I use an external 5 channel amp for the first 5 channels, can I assign the receiver to amplify another 6 channels?(Front heights, surr heights, surr back)?
I ended up buying the Denon X4700H to replace my older Denon THX AVR and it’s the worst thing I’ve ever done.Every time I turn this thing on something different happens.I’ve had home cinemas Many different AVRs and this one is driving me mad.I turn it on and the Apple TV comes on and my 4K BluRay also comes on.Sometimes I get Dolby Atmos some times Other sound formats and sometimes not. It’s an absolute nightmare.I just watched a video of a guy who’s having the same problems.70 comments of people that are experiencing the same switching conflicts. I suggest you live with this Denon for a few weeks and see how you feel.I never had these problems with my older more powerful THX Denon. These recent models are a load of junk.
Hi Howard thank you for your feedback. I am sure there must me a reason behind the issues you are experiencing. I recommend you contact your nearest or preferred Denon dealer to assist you to rectify the problems. The unit I tested or reviewed didn't have any of the issues you described. I am sure there are some software issue or some configuration mismatch. Hope your issues will be sorted soonest.
The Denon 4700 is quite good at multi channel audio (movies) but mediocre when it comes to two channel audio (music) . The arcan avr30 on the other hand is a high-end receiver! All of the components are high-end, which include audiophile DAC, a heavyweight toroidal transformer and a toroid amplifier, which means the arcam are in a different league compared to this mid-price Denon!
Hi Nitesh thank you for your inquiry. The AVR includes a FM/AM receiver to receive an decode analog signals, but for the rest it is identical to the AVC model. So the AVC models excludes the FM/AM tuner. Enjoy!
Hi Ciro thank you for your inquiry. In general only a few small or minor glitches were experienced during my time with the X4700, but it was more related to fast syncing with the audio codecs from the source equipment - but no user intervention was required the X4700 self-corrected the issues. I will say the experience related to audio performance in movies will more or less be the same, but you alway gain by having more powerful audio power amplifiers for improved performance and user experience in general. Goodluck with your decision. Enjoy!
Hi, Freddie thank you for your inquiry. I will recommend the 4700 because in a few years 8K will be widely adopted - and thus you will be future-ready, and remember the 4700 support 4K at 120Hz which makes for an extremely smooth picture or video motion quality. You can not go wrong with the 4700. Just ask for a good discount because it is the festive season. Enjoy!
