A few weeks ago I bought the Milwaukee M12 12V Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/4 in. Hex Screwdriver Kit with Two 1.5Ah Batteries, Charger and Tool Bag for $59 at Home Depot. I really like it so far.

It’s back to $99 now. 2401-22.

That sounds like a great deal! Is it gyroscopic? I have mostly DeWalt tools, but I got a Milwaukee stapler because DeWalt didn't make one, and I really like the smaller batteries for smaller tools! I used to have ALL Milwaukee tools back in the corded days, but they were slow to jump into the cordless arena. I really need to get to Home Depot once and awhile and see what's out there. I do most of my shopping at Menards, and they are very limited on power tool brands 😐

Cool, totally valid point about dragging a large battery around all day.

It may not seem like much, but it was exhausting when installing the hardware on a large kitchen job. A small drill with a vix bit and a smaller driver were definitely preferred. 😊

Pretty cool little tool, that will be coming in handy for you 👍😊

Gyroscope is super intuitive! I prefer the flippy one with torque control and 2 batts. Highly recommended.

I agree! If I were buying it myself (it was a Christmas present), I would have definitely picked the pistol grip version - I may get it yet. The two batteries is a big deal now that they are discontinued 😐

I didn't think any of the tool companies made eight volt tools anymore, but I see what you mean about size and weight. Twenty volt tools are awesome, but they could easily become cumbersome if you have one in your hand all day! It's too bad they are discontinuing the format 😐

I guess 8-volt is on the ropes. Hopefully the 12-volt versions are as small and lightweight!

Hi Mojo, wow what a neat little drill, be interesting to see how long the battery lasts before it needs charging.

Thanks Larry! I will be giving it it's first workout in the Tiny House on the electrical work there, but it will certainly be used a lot in the woodshop once that's completed! I may look into those 12-volt tools from DeWalt as well. Bigger is not always better 😉

Where do they come up with their pricing? I see you've linked to the pistol grip dewalt screwdriver and for $20 more a tool bag an d a second battery. Thanks for the review!

I know! If I were buying this myself, I would have bought the one listed - but my daughter got it for me for Christmas. The Chinese batteries are more than the $20 difference!

I know what you mean about adjusting hardware on cabinets! A big part of it is reaching way into the cabinet and adjusting drawer slides! That can get real tiresome, real quick! Maybe I'll get one of these before they're discontinued (what a shame).

I agree 100% As others have pointed out, some of the 12-volt versions are pretty nice so I'll have a look at those.

That's new to me! Never heard of a gyroscopic tool of any kind, and I try to keep on top of all of the dewalt lineup. That is pretty darn cool!

That is a sweet little screwdriver! I really like the size, and the gyroscope function seems like an awesome idea!

I like it as well. I may also get the bent one for different situations, and the two batteries it comes with!

I like the size of that! It would fit nicely in my kitchen tool drawer 😉

I know what you mean about cordless tools and their weight. I picked up an old corded drill the other day while cleaning the shop, and it felt like a feather! If you have a 5-6ah battery on your tool, that's a LOT of extra weight!

Back in the day, we had cordless tools that sat on a charger (those sucked), and the rest were 8-volt (I believe), but they were NiCad. They were heavier than lithium ion, and when the newer (heavier) versions came in, we always tried to get ahold of the older 8-volt ones.

Brother you need to check out the “Extreme” line of 12v DeWALT tools, perhaps especially the DCD703 5-in-1 Driver. Extremely light in the hand and very powerful for 12v.
@TrapDoorWoodworks
@TrapDoorWoodworks 6 месяцев назад
Thanks Burning Straw! I was just telling another commenter that I don't see a lot of tools because I rarely go to Home Depot, and they have limited tools at Menards, but I'm going to make it a point to head there later this week. I really like the idea of an 8 volt tool because of the tiny battery, but will definitely look into that 5-in-1 driver 😊

There's a better version that can twist into a pistol grip and also has a clutch setting collar on it works wonders for electrical work or anything with lots of screws
@TrapDoorWoodworks

I saw that! I believe I'm going to pick one up for all of those reasons - and because it comes with two batteries, and the batteries have been discontinued! I bought a Chinese spare, but having four batteries would be better 😉

Have you looked at the Pro (Blue) Bosch GO Screwdriver? The battery is integrated so not fully what you are looking for - but maybe get 2 in a deal somewhere.

Personally I use the 12V system with the FLEX adaptors for small jobs. very powerful and sufficiently lightweight and very compact.Bosch GSR 12V-35 FC

@@hookedonwood5830 Back in the day when I worked full time as a cabinetmaker, all of our tools were Bosch, Hitachi, and Makita. They were ahead of the loop as far as cordless goes. DeWalt was not even a thing back then - they made radial arm saws for the most part. I will take a look next time I'm at Home Depot. Thanks! 😊

It’s a screwdriver, not a drill. If I need a drill I use one. It’s for low torque applications, not for drilling into cement.

I would be using it for pre-drilled screw holes in cabinets. That's it.
@TrapDoorWoodworks

I agree. I need a light weight screwdriver for cabinet work. i use a hammer drill on cement, and a drill press for most holes.
