I got the black version with rubber strap, I feel like it is easier to wear with different outfits, and doesn't stand out at first as much, until someone spots it with its weird shape. Absolutely the favourite watch I own.
Some engineer came into the CEO's office in Hamilton with the idea to make that watch...that sounds unbelieveable......but the fact that idea was accepted, that sounds even more unbelieveable. That guy should be awarded with a medal. It's very hard to find something so unusual, so nice. That thing is readable, it's useful, it's a masterpiece. That thing looks like analog G-steel on a drugs :-) :-) :-). ETA inside, swiss made crazy thing, to me that sounds like a perfection. That thing really don't have to be modded because that bracelet is beautiful. That movement looks like a song, a work of art. It was an extreme pain to produce that thing, i'm sure. Come on Simucom, that thing is not designed to take it inside the cave, or to dive deep, a lume is not a primary thing there, they could put a great lume there but they didn't want to do it, that was a message from Hamilton off course. Good job Hamilton, great video Simucom Like
Yes I agree it is expensive. It is considered "budget-friendly" to the higher-end watch collecting community (can't wait till I can consider that budget-friendly lol). At least for me it was priced reasonably enough for it to be a realistic goal to save for. The style is so great too. I think they did an excellent job blending the 60's rock style with today's modern lines.
Great review. I wish you would of covered a bit more on the history...Elivis traded Omega for this watch (mostly just being humble)...but the fact the predicessor to this watch spans history including elvis wearing his in the movie Blue Hawaii is a pretty big deal. Since this is an automatic, I get it would be difficult to discuss the watches origin as a pioneer electric watch before the infamous quartz crisis...but it really is a beautiful watch that deserves the care and romance of an automatic. Love this watch, and great job showing it to us. I think your review provides some of the clearest angles I have seen yet. Good work.
There's nothing wrong with it at all, only mentioning that for me personally it was a little difficult to operate with my sausage fingers. Elvis knew how to dress clean that's for sure.
I always forget about the powermatic 80 reserve, pretty decent grey market price for an icon only other really iconic piece with an ETA and a decent price I can think of is a maybe a glycine airman
I have never owned either a Tissot or a Glycine despite their very good reputation. I will have to visit their catalogue even though more watches is really the last thing I need in my life right now lol.
Weird design, but very clean in the same time. 0:31 - Wow, the red minute markers and the white ones between them resemble so much these ones of the speedometer of old Cadillacs. I usually associate such 15 minutes markers with a rotating bezel and a diver. May be wrong... 0:43 - Is the glass having anti reflective undercoating? It doesn't look to have... This way the play of the lights looks more natural in my opinion. 1:26 - Very cool how curved is the body in that position, and this domed glass, witch almost seamlessly integrated in the... bezel. Looks to me almost as a CRT TV watched on the side. 2:31 - Why infamous? Is this even thinkable when you wear the most famous triangle watch (probably in the world)? :D Actually, it (the 3D triangle of the watch body) reminds me for a rotor of a rotary engine (Mazda RX-7). 3:13 - Fortunately, we already know what this abbreviation means from the source :) 80 hours power reserve is really impressive, indeed... These are more >3 days, wow! 3:53 - Never and nothing is perfect... Always there are some cut corners which otherwise look as easily achievable. 6:05 - Love the look of the bracelet - looks solid and runs fluently with the butterfly style clasp, in my opinion. Very cool and relaxing review. Thanks!
That's awesome, really appreciate the positive feedback. The background music I got from RU-vid Studio's audio library. It's called My Trains a Comin - Unicorn Heads
It's not bad but it's not an improvement on the original and it has nothing to do with Elvis who wore the original. One thing Hamilton could do it take the original and lume the hands and markers but none of the variations are great like the original.
Is that a workout watch ? To me it does not look practical to wear doing exercising . A fitBit watch would be more of an exercising watch . But hey...I guess a person can wear a Rolex while working on a car engine if they choose to , but it wouldn't be me .
It's not a workout watch at all. However I have worn it while working out and it was fine. No issues shoulder pressing 102kg/225lbs overhead. I've noticed if a watch is not designed properly for me, it will really start to dig into the back of my hand when I press over 84kg/185lbs and it's quite uncomfortable.
I took his comment to mean that as a watch reviewer he wore it in many different circumstances to determine its level of fuctionality. This is especially critical since many would pass on a watch like this since it is assumed the odd shape would make it unconformable or unwearable in cirtain conditions. You may not be going to work out, but if a task presents itself durring uour normal day that might have you physicly active, lifting, or mobile you sure dont want to have to be removing your 1-2k watch and pocketing it so you complete a task that came up in the moment.
