I just got this and hooked up my Mac mini and PS5 and all I can say is WOW!! Super fast and super clear on both. COD and Red Dead 2 look awesome on this on my PS5. I was sceptical because every video I've watched talked about the games being stretched on the PS5 but in my opinion I can't see anything that looks bad. Every game I've played looks great no stretch picture. All super clear, bright and fast. Golf 2k23 looks amazing and is fast if that's your style of play.
didn't mean to offend, the joke was on the fact that high refresh rate is less appreciative in a game like golf then it is in a fps or a sim racing game @@styles3way
I ran through a Sceptre 40" nebula 2560x1440 , Innocn 40" 3440x1440 , Samsung G9 32x9 (was disappointed and returned it) , and now an LG C2 42" which is where I stayed. I love it...OLED is really what its said to be. the Nebula 40" Nebula is whats currently on my rig. Like it...but not happy as I want. Might get a 48" C2 for the rig. I prefer 21x9 if large enough or 16x9 for sim racing. The current 32x9 panel sizes are just not big enough for me...as you said Will the loss in height just take way to much from the immersion for me.
I have a 45'' LG monitor as you have here, i run a 4070 ti super and on ACC i am having issues finding the best settings to run at, can you please give any advice if you don't mind on how to set it up.
That's just way to much for a monitor and I even bought the 34 alianware qd oled for 2k lmao and that was stupid price even tho it's the bests screen I ever had . I still rather 32 triples alot more better
I just picked one up for ~1300$ open box from best buy. Other than text (which isnt terrible at all), it is easily one of the best experiences I have had so far. The hdr is an absolute game changer with per pixel lighting. Buy it open box or wait for the price to drop.
I'm curious how you tweaked the font settings, if at all. Out of the box it was very blurry for me with weird light-blue shadowing by the text. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
How is the dead pixel count? I have an LG 32" and after 4 months of owning it I've gotten a few dead pixels up front. This is the second LG in a year ive gotten that have these excessive dead pixels.
The ppi though...... I saw one in best buy and oof.... The fuzziness..... I was quite interested in this panel when I saw it announced, until I saw the resolution. I'm sorry, I feel that the ppi for this size is horrible and noticeable, even from a distance. I already have a 34" 3440x1440 and it just stood out and once seen I couldn't unsee it. LG has announced a 39" for ces this year, but I'm waiting on the 2160p versions, I think the 45" might actually be too big for my taste, but a 2160p 39" ..... I did the math and at 5120x2160 that's 134 ppi... Yeah buddy. My panel is still going strong, I can wait until those are released
Same with me. I had both the Alienware 34” and the lg c3 42”, and returned the Alienware. Even at 34”, I found the 1440p to look res compared to the 42”.
Their DisplayPort 1.4 uses DSC (Display Stream Compression) the HDMI port does not, otherwise DisplayPort caps out at about 175 Hz @8-bit with 3440x1440. Therefore, to experience 240Hz with no compression and it's latency you can only use HDMI. 2.1. Uncompressed bandwidth 3440x1440, 240Hz @ 10-bit is about 43 Gbps 3440x1440, 240Hz @ 8-bit is about 36 Gbps DisplayPort 1.4 (max 25.92Gbps) : 3440x1440, 175 @ 8-bit is about 26 Gbps
3080 on HDMI 2.1 (included cable) I'm getting full 10- bit hdr 240hz no DSC. People wish it was 4k, but I don't think even the 4090 could handle 4k/240hz.
@@DJaquithFL Yes, no disputes here. Just confirming you will get the full uncompressed bandwidth over HDMI 2.1 on this model and emphasizing 4k/240hz is a pipedream at this point as far as bandwidth. Thanks for presenting the relevant data.
I understand LG will bring this monitor out in a true 4K, 2160 perhaps in a larger size. This would have many advantages over the Samsung G9 49", which again isn't a 4K monitor. If you're like me, you just can't go back from 4K.
Hey Will. Great review. I already missed the „Hardware“ reviews and the Tech talk about things like „tuning the pc“ and stuff. I know it’s not the main purpose of the channel but still I enjoy those kind of videos
I bought one of these. I got a terrific deal on an open box from Best Buy for 45% off and not a single scratch or dead pixel. I am running it with an RTX 4090 and a somewhat underpowering over clocked i5-13600K but it is more powerful than both the i9-11900K and RTX 3080 TI used for this review. I get great gaming performance at ultimate resolutions, but I don't reach the 240 Hz monitor capability setting. I doubt that even an i9-14900 would peg it at 240 Hz. One thing I did not hear in your review was just what was your FPS you were actually achieving. Ultimately a monitor only can display the FPS it is getting from the system. So you report not much difference between a setting of 144 Hz and 240 Hz in the racing game and Cyberpunk but they are very CPU and GPU intensive games. The monitor may not have been able to display a full 240 Hz refresh because it was not getting 240 FPS from the system. If you have to turn settings down to get a 240 Hz refresh than are you actually comparing apples to apples? Also I think a site such as UFO clearly demonstrates the difference between 144 Hz and 240 Hz display of a monitor on a level playing field.
15:03 I seriously doubt the rtx 3080 ti is pulling off 150+ FPS there, let alone 240. I think about the refresh rate impact, when we start saying things like "maybe", "perhaps", "it's somewhat possible that i am maybe able to see a difference", we should just attribute that "difference" to placebo effect and call it a day.
I am considering this monitor, I have the Samsung Neo G9 49” Super UW but I really really don’t like the narrow vertical view limitation. I like the Wide field of view but I wish it was taller. Outside of RACING games is really a bit annoying to lose all that Screen real state vertically. So I am definitely considering replacing it with this one even if it’s smaller on the Wide size.
THe tech trickles down over time to more affordable stuff. Remember when we first got our triple 65 inch 4K monitors they were $10K AUD EACH! Now you can get better panels for less than half that.
Hi will. I’m really struggling with the decision of a monitor. I think I’ve got it down to either a 49 inch ultrawide or maybe the LG ultragear 45. If you were about to press the purchase button on either. Which one would you choose? My primary use is ACC but also play AC, Beam, and ETS 2. I’ve watched every review video I could find and I just need to make a decision lol. Pls help
I would love to see him review slightly less expensive products more in the mid range. The monitor is cool but you can buy 5 decent monitors for the same price. I'm sure these reviews are for someone but definitely not for me. Keep grinding though.
@@boostedmedia yeah of course but we could see on you setup as an exemple, what kind a field of view you had. And what you had to sacrifice to have a good compromise for Sim racing. I'm on the fence for this monitor but I struggle to find a good in car view of what this screen offers.
As always, great review! Samsung released a 57" 1000R 32:9 that is also very insteresting. It would be great, even if Samsung doesn't ask you to review such monitor, to see how they compare. The 57" might be wide and tall enough to be the ideal screen. Also I have a triple 1000R 32" screen setup and I have to say I'm not so happy about how triple curved monitors are handled by Sim apps. The screen setup works for flat screens while developers should add a curved triple setup as well, because where the side screens curved join you have a way less engle coming from the center screen. The angle is performed by the curvature and not the joining angle alone. If you setup the right engle between curved screens you get a very narrow visual at the sides, if you insert the right overall angle you get a bad transition from the center screen.
@@22Uzbekistan I think just like on the 47'' that would be one of those cases where as a german I would ask my polish friend what the prices are over there, as it would be way chesper, even with postage included. ( We checked with the 47, just for shits snd giggles and the price difference was anout 600 to 900 euros.) If he wants to buy Smartphones though, he asks me for the german price, as they are cheaper.
The high refresh rate at 240Hz makes real difference in gaming experience - when the frame rate is more than 200 FPS (at best when 300 fps or more), the gameplay smoothness is way beyond of some 144Hz. Of course that is if your perception are able to handle that many information or frames at same time.
Yes I agree, been using a Samsung G9 for roughly 3 years but you really need to utilise all that refresh rate, at 150fps from the GPU and 240hz screen yeah youll see 0 difference from 144/240hz because the GPU isnt sending all that information, at 240hz with my GPU cranking out 275 its hypnotisingly smooth the gameplay racing
Damn I wish I knew I needed this on Black Friday. Its $1299 now, the 45GS95QE-B has been released as new model but can't find any comparisons between the 45GR95QE-B and 45GS95QE-B yet. 3 months in how's it been for you?
Will, get video! If trying to run triples of this monitor, would I even benefit from the specs on this monitor with the below system specs? I am concerned that the computer would not get the most these monitors. Intel® Core™ i5-13600KF Processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4070 TI TUF Graphics Card ASUS Z790 Wi-Fi Motherboard DDR5 for Intel 13th Generation Processors 240MM CPU Water Cooler 32GB of DDR5 6000MHz
I bought 3 of these LG 45's for my sim but I can only get 2 to work. The 3rd won't communicate with my PC (new 14th gen I9 with 4090 card). Anyone know how to fix this? It must be a different setting I'm not aware of.
Unless the game is running at 240fps the 240hz means nothing. This guy in this review is wrong. And him saying "I can feel this and that" is either a lier or he is so silly he is experiencing a placebo effect. Hz only matters if your fps can match it. gsync keeps ur hz at the same speed as your fps speed.
Brilliant Monitor, there! I'd need this one for my racing rig as well.. but I'm wondering if running this on my laptop would force me to lower down some in game grafics details due to the higher native resolution this device comes with, compared to the one of my laptop which is 1080p...
Yes. You'd struggle to run a game on this monitor from your laptop if your laptop was designed for 1080p. Once you increase resolution, you'll need to think about how you'll manage to run a game for that res. My general rule of thumb is to invest in the rig (PC) first, then the monitor.
For 1,600 I expect way more than a measly 3000x14000. The pixel density on this panel is horrendous! I love LG, I am typing this on my C2. But I need more pixels for what I am paying.
I have a 49" 5120x1440 Samsung monitor. I am getting some stretching at the ends of the screen that I can't get cleared up. I have checked everything in Iracing and windows. It's not terrible but noticeable. The resolution is right everywhere.
You can’t really feel the difference in 240 hz unless you play FPS games as Cs Go and similarly ones.. in cs go the biggest difference is not only the smooth imagine flow but it’s also hitting the targets much better .. so 240 hz is mostly not FPS games not those that use G-Sync or Freesync
hiya, i've just brought this screen thanks to your review, I have a question for AC and ACC . what FOV do you have as I am struggling to find a good setting for real feel of the car, for example on AC, i turn in and doesnt feel like its turning in like it does when was on the TV 16:9.
i want this monitor BUT the only problem with it is the Oled . Im not just a gamer , I wanna use it for music production therefore My concern is the burn in screen. what you guys suggest or think ? thanks !!
I'm also approaching 40 but am super sensitive to the difference in 144hz and 240. I have a Samsung g9 at both my Office /gaming desk and my sim rig. Due to Displayport limitations it blue screens my computer if both get turned on at 240hz. I tried at first running my sim rig in 120hz mode so i could have them both on but hated it. Perhaps its all my years of FPS gaming. Hell back in the 90's I was running high refresh rates in Counter-Strike on CRTs.
I personally own the Corsair Flex which is the same essential technology and to me the 800R is the perfect curvature, but I too can make my screen flat. My three complaints are no DisplayPort 2.x, PPI is clearly noticeably low in comparison to its counterpart that I also own the 175Hz Alienware 34-in OLED and lastly, ideally I'd like to have seen an Nvidia Ultra version. However, clearly even the RTX 40 series lacks DisplayPort 2.x which completely blows my mind because both my RTX 3090 and RTX 4090 can easily saturate DisplayPort 1.4. Ideally we're all heading towards 1kHz 5K-8K wide ratio, large screens and the technology is certainly available at least from monitors. It may take another one or two generations to drive them at high refresh rates. However, monitors out last GPUs by at least two generations if not three or four. I play FPS games and I need the responsiveness. CPU-Z JJU8GT CPU-Z 9MM3CZ
Interesting Monitor, but the Price let me instantly think "For that amount I can get a good 32" Triple-Setup with the Monitor-Stand". Kind of a Dealbreaker imho.
Can you set three of these up as a triple monitor setup, or would that be too much of a resource drag for something like a 4080 or 4090 (at, say 140 hertz)?
You're miss understanding a bit on different led tech. Edge lite and field array local dimming are only relevant for HDR display. Cheaper displays have neither. Edge lite generally only lights in columns. So there wouldn't be converging lights from the ranks and columns, just a vertical column of light going from the top to the bottom. Stay clear of edge lite if you want HDR. Most you can disable the local dimming completely, which is what I do.
Meanwhile I bought a full sized 48” 120hz C2 Oled and got much more for my money. The lack of vertical real estate on these things is laughable. Idk why anyone would get one vs a full sized version.
Hello my friend! Do you think this one monitor is enough for simracing? Now i am having triple 32 full hd, should i go for one lg 45 oled? Thank you very much!
Can't wait for later in the year when the Samsung 57" Ultrawide gets released, and hoping Boosted can test one before I ditch my triples in favour of one.
It doesn't matter at all if you can tell the difference or not that is not where the advantage is. You are still been presented with an image earlier in time to react sooner to all the small things the car does and at the higher end of sim racing you bet this makes a difference. Is it going to shave second off , no but it will shave a tenth or two and make you more consistent and in the long braking zones from higher speeds it is much easier to brake exactly on the point you need to.
I just got the Neo 49” mini LED a few weeks before the LG came out. And just got the LG in the office. I actually thing the. Neo mini LED competes really well and the 1000R is my preferred radius.
I have that Neo G9 mini LED 49” UW and I am considering replacing it with this LG45 OLED. I am tired of the narrow vertical view on the Neo G9, I wish it was taller. Is great for Racing games but sucks for everything else iMO. I’ve had it for 2yr now. The 21:9 Aspect ration looks much better to me and provides great wide view plus great vertical real state. (I wish it was 50” instead of 45” tho)
every one is reviewing the "BEST" how about reviewing the best value. IMO 240hz is massive overkill for driving. 144 would be plenty. Oled, neat but not really ideal driving games would lead to burn in with all the non moving sections of screen. $1700 usd how about a good 200-300usd monitor?
It’s seemingly very difficult to get our hands on more mid and entry level tech gear to review. As I’m sure you can appreciate its not sustainable for us to buy everything that we review, but it’s certainly a valid point and something we will try and do more of.
i´m rocking the 38GN950 which is 38 inch and 3840x1600 res and 144 (160)hz ips panel. why they make a 45 inch with 3440x1440? PPI is way to low imo... give me that 45 inch with higher res and i´m in.
@@kolysion164 nice for u. still, going up in size with even smaller res is kinda braindead to me, but ye... switched to 49 inch g9 (32:9 with 5120x1440p) and i will never think about buying 21:9 agian^^
that is also a perfect monitor/tv for a triple setup ! not soo much pixels then 4k, and it has display port input, because the most of gpu has 3 display port
Think that 240hz would be more noticeable on a larger screen. Got the Benq 120hz projector on 110 inch screen and have been thinking about getting the newer model that supports 240hz.
I would love to buy a triple of these but VR is also progressing and the next Pimax Crystal shall be the way to go if you’ve got 4090. Expensive monitors will be a thing of the past in a few years.
