With this blaster Nerf have managed to create something that can fire further more accurately than anything they have previously produced in any of their lines. I'm not buying their 120 feet range claim, but it can hit a 3' x 4' target from 80' out frequently enough to be useful (I use a tape measure for range testing and a catching net). Unfortunately it can't fire as far or as accurately as the Nexus Pro or Aeon Pro using short darts, and Ultra darts cost 5 times as much as Adventure Force short darts, so better hope you don't lose or break those darts. I do like that you can get Ultra screamer darts (whistler darts would be a better name), that adds some fun. This blaster plus a dump pouch on your belt to hold spare darts is going to keep up a better sustained rate of accurate fire than anything else in the Ultra range. The grip gives the initial impression of being comfortable for large adult hands, but I did have to shave down the underside of the trigger guard a little as it was rubbing uncomfortably against the joint of my middle finger, enough to leave a sore red mark.
My theory as to why this one actually can fire straight. Coop said in a previous video that the ultra darts do follow a relatively straight flight path likely due to their "fins", but they curve a lot since their initial trajectory is way off. This isn't the case here maybe because the 4 is a front loader while the 1 and 2 had barrels, so my thought is that the fins that allow the dart to fly straight make it so that barrels negatively affect it more so than smooth elite darts.

Great review, my issue with ultra remains the same. It is not a special ammo type, like Mega, and if you're playing superstock, why use a proprietary ammo that's gonna limit the amount you carry? It's basically Rival only everybody else has rival and not ultra. I'll continue to stay away from these blasters. Your review was on point, thanks for the good content! Keep it up!!
Despite the issues it has, I might consider getting one just because of how light yet effective it can be. I hope this will come in handy when I use it in my future vids.
I started my ULTRA Journey with the TWO, and frankly I think the ULTRA line should've STARTED with springer blasters! #SpringerMasterRace! Often with a brand new type of dart the tried and true method of launching darts via a spring and plunger is the #1 way to go, the ULTRA line started out poorly because the first two blasters were flywheel electronic revolvers.
I get the impression that Hasbro designed a dart that's virtually incompatible with flywheels (maybe the fins have some weird interaction?) and then for some reason decided that the first two blasters in the series ought to be flywheel blasters, which really left the worst first impression possible for what was already a mediocre product that doesn't bring much to the table. But even with the overall mediocrity of the new dart format, I will absolutely bet you that if they had led with the Four and something like an Ultra clone of the Retaliator, the series wouldn't be as hated as it was for leading with an absolute lemon like the One.

I think the reason why the Ultra 4 is more accurate than the 1 or 2 is because the latter two are Flywheel blasters. Due to the fins of the dart, and being prone to being placed in the loading mechs inconsistently, the flywheels will grip the darts, and fling them in various ways due to the inconsistent loading.
The Ultra blasters are really cool but sadly, they fire Ultra. They’re only good if they’re modded to fire Elites. I hope eventually they re-release some of the Ultra blasters in Elite form.

Do you think that because of the way the darts are designed, having a longer barrel may actually make the darts more accurate because it guides the darts
The 'Sonic Screamers' are compatible with all nerf ultra blasters and they make a whistling sound when fired. My 7 year old loves them. Pretty cheap too compared to alot of the other fancier nerf guns.
Coop, i have been a fan for years. I dont even know when i started. Many years. I enjoy a bit of your vids. Not all but yea. I remember the vid where you talk about your health, and why you got overweight. I want you to know that i have watched your videos over other content creators when it came to nerf reviews.
I got this 4 ultra cheap on Amazon and the trigger guard was bothering me. So I sliced it off. Then I used some foam and gaffer's tape to make the grip comfortable. No more gripes! Easy peezy. Ultra ain't so bad when the blasters are marked down 65% and a 20 pack of the Accustrike darts are $5. Ultra is actually good if you're just a basement plinker, as no Ultra blaster is war-practical versus most Rival or a Nexus Pro with 22-round Talon mags. Maybe the 3 is alright? I do wish the 5 was better. I love the Magnus and Fortnite SP-L. But Coop was quite displeased with the 5. He chucks it on the ground in his Ultra series breakdown vid.
