Review: Pallbearer 'Mind Burns Alive' (doom metal/atmospheric rock)

I think it's their best outside of Sorrow And Extinction. Jamie and I talked about it a bit on a Review Crew a few weeks back.

Some of the best and most memorable composition from this band till date. The record really hits its stride during the guitar solo on the title track and its near perfection from then on out.

Thanks for the review Pete. I checked this out after Jamie reviewed it on Review Crew. I've been a fan of Pallbearer for a little while now, and I have to say that the more I listen to this album the more I like it. It's slowly becoming one of my favorite albums by the band, and one of my favorites of the year.

I`m all for bands stretching out and expanding their sound. I like this a lot. It sounds like an album they needed to make. I get the feeling they`ve been listening to a lot of Anathema lately.

I get a lot of Sunny Day Real Estate vibes. Specifically, the album, The Rising Tide. This album will be in my top 5 of the year. I think it's absolutely brilliant. The melodies hook you in and they don't let go. The super punchy guitars are used sparingly and I really think it adds emotion to the overall vibe of this record. I can't say enough good things about it.

i saw them and Lucifer open for High On Fire in 2014

Listened to the first and last tracks and other excerpts. Definitely an album filled with atmosphere and agree with how the heaviness is used as emphasis and not necessarily the driving force of a song. An album that definitely will need several listens to see how this settles into the personal listening room. Likely an album that might not be played all the time, but could perfectly suit the right time with the right music. Thanks, Pete, for reviewing this in addition to Jamie Lazlo on the Review Crew. thanks Pete. Too many albums have packaging that has ineligible text or impossible to navigate. Not exactly an incentive to shell out for a physical copy.

As an Alice in Chains fan, I've always loved Pallbearer, and this album definitely gives me these depressive, dreadful vibes of 90s grunge.

What you favourite ac/Dc songs

Even though I really like this kind of stuff, I could never get into Pallbearer. I'm not even sure why, I just don't like them. Thanks for the review anyway, Pete!

I really wanted to like this album, but it's just a bit too 'uneventful' and subdued for my tastes. 🤔 The new Crypt Sermon 'Stygian Rose' album on the other hand; THAT'S how I like my doom metal! 👌

Hi Pete. I listened to this album after the Review Crew. I was not impressed with the album and I could not get into it. Not for everybody like you said. Sorry I would rate it lower than your rating.
