I have flown Philippine airlines from the U.S and vice versa yearly for 25 years now, and although they lag behind new aircraft procurement, the in flight services can't be beat. Filipinos are the best when it comes to personal service, and they're not even pretending. I guess it's in the genes of every Filipino.
@@yami622 I'm in the healthcare profession, and you don't have any idea how much we pretend to "care" to those who don't deserve it. But that is in our professional and ethical standards. At the end of the day, we kept our job and get paid well. But believe me, our sympathy and empathy is genuine to those patients who really need it.
Philippine Airlines is pretty much on its way to reclaiming its old glory. The only thing they need to fix in my opinion is their Manila terminal. Really ruins the whole experience.
If pal will relocate their hub to Clark airport once the new terminal is built and abandon NAIA that will most certainly give PAL the 5-star rating it deserves! NAIA should probably just be a military airbase or domestic airport.
In 1983 I flew Philippine Airlines from London to Bangkok via Frankfurt and Mumbai .. in First class.. it was on a Boeing 747 and the whole top deck had been turned into proper bunk beds .. so when I was done with dinner and the movie , the FA took me upstairs and showed me my bed .. proper sheets and pillow.. with a seatbelt.. the thing that made it so special, was that we didn’t have to get up for landing in Mumbai and could just lie down and sleep or rest through it all .. what a great experience it was !! 😁😁😇🙏
They Called it "Skybeds" and PAL was the first to pioneer it they Put it mostly on their 747-200B's upper deck or first class but the sad part is they were removed first class because of lack of passengers and the decommissioning of the 747-200B's :(
My best economy flight experience ever was on PAL, flying their A350 from London to Manila, new aircraft, lovely crew and outstanding catering and I've flown alot, not as much as Josh obviously but at least with all the major european and asian flag carriers, few can match PAL.
new manila international airport is at bulacan. .hectares of massive land area only for this new mega airport...soon to be the largest mega airport in asean
Bummer it wasnt the Neo would love to have seen the Economy on that. Its the little touches by this Airline that make it memorable, amenity kits to freshen up, snacks and water service throughout the flight certainly a good trade off for no IFE. Nice job Philippine Airlines. ❤
PAL is a great airline despite the fact that they are very behind updating/ upgrading their planes. The cabin crew is unbeatable. Genuine warmth, kindness , politeness and friendly staff common to the Filipinos. It is such a heartwarming experience flying with PAL compared to years and years of flying domestically within the United States with perhaps the exception of Hawaiian Airlines.
Welcome back mate....have done a few flights with PA and loved it !! A 340 from Melbourne to Manila in Business and could not fault it and years ago in a DC 10 -30 also in Business and that flight from memory was also excellent. Probably one of the most under rated airlines in the Asian region. Mind you Manila is chaos but the people are amongst the most friendly in the world!! Glad you were safe in PNG...many here in Australia do not go there because it is regarded as a "dangerous" destination !! And its only a few hours away !! Thanks mate for another great trip report...really enjoyed it !!
I flew with them once in 2009, it was good experience, very polite cabin crew, and good food. please also ⱱiṥit mЎ new çhańńel. top documentaries about plane disasters.
Yeah thats right, and that story begun when ANA airline from japan granted by francise of philippine airline way back.. correct me if im wrong but thats the facts that i know..
It is actually the oldest airline in Asia that is operating with its original name. It existed as PAL since 1941 but was actually known as Philippines Aerial Taxi Co in 1932.
@@phareztear6383Philippine Airlines 1941 regarding All Nippon Airways it actually started as Nippon helicopters then went to planes. If you look at some of the Japanese TV stations they actually use All Nippon Airways helicopters
PAL is pretty good. They upgraded me once at the gate on a 320 red eye from Manila to Cairns, Australia. Business class was recliner seats. I actually got a decent amount of sleep despite the tech stop in Davao. The route is gone now, but it was a great experience. PAL is fine. Manila Airport is horrible.
The true gem of the airlines is their crew. Been to many flights there was nothing to compare how hospitable Philippine Airlines has. They will greet you with a smile and you'll never felt out once you board the plane.
I call it my home in the skies. I am a former OFW who loved flying on Philippine Airlines (for some reason, i hate calling it PAL) from Manila to the middle east and vice versa and loved it coz the moment i step inside the cabin, it already feels like i'm home. Nothing like flying with our kabayan crew on our flag carrier.
This was also the aircraft that I flew with PAL the first time. I prefer the neo too as it comes with IFE and Free WiFi. Glad to know you’re a fan of our flag carrier, Josh. Maraming Salamat! 🙏🏼🇵🇭
Josh, great vid as always! My friends flew PR when they were going to Philippines and they said that the flight was very good. They said the staff was extremely friendly and the food was good. Before that I never realize that PR was good because they were on the EU blacklist for sometime.
I agree with you. Some of my fellow Filipinos refuse to fly with them because of a bad experience in the past but I’ve been flying with them on and off for the past 15 years whenever I visit the Philippines and I’ve seen the improvement. I think when the company focused on training the crew on the quality of service was when things started to improve. I think they know they don’t have deep pockets as other airlines in the region so their capacity to improve the hard product was limited they decided to focus on the service. I will admit though that the service on the ground in MNL needs further improvement.
I'm amazed you got into the country to stay overnight, i though they were on lockdown against all foreigners?......I have travelled with PAL, back in November 2018 with a brand new A350 each way LHR to Manila & return........Wonderfull aircraft, only eceonomy but really great cabin crew, even back in 2015 when i flew their A340-300 on the same route (no IFE on those either, not even ceiling drop down screens! They did supply a tablet for use though to watch films ect) the crew were fantastic......
Yes it is absolutely a very good airline with its crew as its crown jewel, they render service with a heart and the pilots are to be commended for a smooth take off and seamless touchdown.
Thank you for featuring my home country Airline again josh. it really makes me proud to see foreign vloggers enjoying their time on Philippine airlines
I have been watching your trips the last few days and so far one of the best travel blogs i have seen. I hope I can do this after this pandemic. Keep it up. You kep me entertained while living alone. Keeping my dreams of traveling again.
As a point of reference, Air Canada routinely does 5 hour flights with only water/coffee/drink service within north america. And is transitioning from 320s to 737s with narrower seats and 30" seat pitch in coach for 5 hours. So the service you got was amazing. BTW, would be interesting to mention how many hours in darkness the plane was kept. On a 5 hour flight, not sure it is really worth it.
Lovely Flight Report. It’s really nice to see some of the smaller Asian Airlines on this channel. It’s a shame about the aircraft change from the A321NEO. ✈️
you could also perhaps talk about that they include check in luggage (if I remember correctly). many airlines now have reduced their check in allowance or have no allowance included at all, and i think this makes PAL even more value for money!
It’s sad that they switched the aircraft I would’ve love to see the experience on their A321neo as I’ve never flown in one. Good thing service was still excellent though I guess it would suck to fly for 5 hours without a PTV.
Wow our flag carrier has been featured by Josh Cahill. Good to hear that you had a great experience with PAL. Always stay safe! Fan from the Philippines 🇵🇭👌
I have flown Philippine Airlines LOTS of times an that airline? NEVER DISAPPOINTS ME! Hope the Filipinos be proud that you've flown their national Airline, and I do hope that you enjoyed your stay in the Philippines :)))
Philippine airlines is now gonna make a first class design, Making their Lounge Beautiful and Modern, and I think they will order some a380s in the future and PAL is going to be a 5-star airline.
Try flying with them on AMS-LHR-MNL. Terrible. Tablets handed out with external batteries, chaotic boarding, f&b below industry average. They are quite ok on shorter legs (
Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.
As of now, the A320s operated by PR are slowly being replaced by A321CEO and NEO. Either they are transferred to PAL Express, or leased to other airline
2x with Phillippine airlines had a 4+ hours delay, cramp seats and much too cold airco, also 4+hours manila airport is really dirty, in cebu it was really modern so didn't mind it that much
As a Filipino, it's always a pleasure to fly PAL. Whenever I'm coming home from another country, the moment I step on the plane is where I feel connected to the country again. In comparison, Cebu Pacific gets you from point A to B cheaply, but if the difference in airfare price is just like a thousand pesos or two then I'd always fly PAL.
This is my first experience with PHILIPPINE AIRLINES. This was a total goat rope. The airline notifies me that the plane is no longer non stop on the return trip. Apparently the original 777 aircraft was in for overhaul. Overhauls are scheduled months in advance by airline maintenance. The airline decided to use an Airbus 330 which carries 50 less passengers and does not have the fuel endurance to make it from Manila to Los Angeles. So, therefore the reason to make a fuel stop in Seoul. Flight time from MANILA 14 hours. From Seoul 10.5 hours. I did some number crunching and calculated that I would miss my connecting flight. I brought this to the attention of the NAIA PAL ticketing agent. I asked her multiple times about the possibility of missing my connecting flight. She assured me multiple times that making my connecting flight was assured. Needless to say, I missed my connecting flight by 45 minutes. You think I'm pissed?
Planning to fly from Malaysia to Tokyo next year. Might consider flying Philippine Airlines since air fare is cheapest. I do have some concerns: 1) How's the Ninoy Aquino airport in Manila? 2) What's the best part of that airport (besides Jollibee)? 3) Any language barriers?
It has been renovated several times but still falls short of international standards.Ground services are chaotic.Processing times at both departures and arrivals should also be improved.
