may I know which glass screen protectors work with pitaka case?

No problem! I guess they can't do anything about it because if they'd make the case thicker, it wouldn't fit in the Magic Keyboard.

@@fjordstrom That is true. But yeah im still thinking about it. It does not seem to be that much of an issue like you sayed. My main concern is price and how long it lasts at this point. (I heard and read that a lot of them just break in the corners for no reason) If thats the case it is not worthed to get. Maybe I will just put it on the closed magic keyboard itself when using it with a pencil.

Yeah, it really looks great. I’ve been walking around with my iPad more often at work now and it’s more reassuring that there’s a case on it now. It feels really nice. Did you order yours already? I actually hoped to order a blue one, but that one ships much later :(

@Nnamdi Nweke Definitely! I just haven’t recevied the update yet. It’s gradually being rolled out. I have the new start screen, but not yet the new ribbon. Excel does support multiple windows now, by the way, but I’ll wait for the whole update.

Haha no problem! :D It fits if you take off that black bracket off the hyperdrive. The only thing though is that it’s more risky if you put much tension on the drive (like when it’s connected to an HDMI cable). The bracket prevents the USB-C port from breaking off. Instead, I use the hyperdrive just when I want to insert an SD card or connecting a flash drive, but for HDMI I now use another dongle instead.

Hi! The one in the video is the iPad Pro's version, which has Face ID. There's also an iPad Air version. I will contact Pitaka for you and reply asap.

@@lilspnce49 According to Pitaka's website, the magez case for ipad air 2020 & 2022 has a cutout for the fingerprint sensor.

@@yohannflores7678 it worked well. There was an opening for the fingerprint. Eventually, I wanted to replace it, but I don’t think they make the model for the iPad Air 4 any longer. I wish they did.

Hi! The one in the video had some cracks on the corners, but the updated version (a month after release, not sure if that's the default now) has smaller corners and that one didn't break. What did break, is the small plastic frame near the USB-C port (on the side of the screen), but I don't really mind that.

Hi! Well, it mainly protects the back, the camera bump and 3 of the 4 sides (the bottom is exposed). I still wouldn’t risk dropping it, though, as the case is about 1-2 mm thin (unlike otterbox cases). It’s definitely better than nothing and I feel more comfortable grabbing my iPad off the keyboard and walk around with it.

Hi! I can’t confirm... except that it’s not compatible with the 2018 folio (because of the small camera cutout).

Hi! There really isn’t that much space left between the iPad and the hinge if you close it. If they want it to fit, they would specifically need to make that side of the case extremely thin so it still can close. Looking at it right now, the other sides are too thick for it to fit. And, they made this case with the Magic Keyboard in mind, not the Smart Folio keyboard (although it is compatible if you read the FAQ). They didn’t make the Coverbuddy either: that’s SwitchEasy’s product (which I also made a review of).

@@fjordstrom 1) a case that fits the magic keyboard while protecting ALL sides will come out soon. I hope you do a review on it. 2) the magic keyboard came out at the end of April, this magez case had many prototypes by the beginning of May, and that's after they looked "at home and abroad", you're telling me in the span of two weeks they bought the magic keyboard, designed the case, "looked at home and abroad" for a machine capable of building this beautiful case, had many prototypes, and released it to the public?

@@fjordstrom the smart folio keyboard NEEDS to have the bottom side of the case opened because if the magnets and how that keynotes is designed. I think if there was a case that covered that side then there would be an issue with the keyboard so it probably won't ever get made as isn't this and the coverbuddy compatible with that? Anyways thanks for making this video it gave me some pointers as to which case to buy. Thanks.

Thanks! According to their website, it is! (I edited this comment because my Pitaka case has the larger cutout, while my 2018 Smart Keyboard Folio has a small cutout, making them incompatible with each other. Having the same gen keyboard and case should work according to Pitaka’s website).

@@fjordstrom awesome review! oops, I ordered one of these thinking it might be compatible with the 2018 Smart Keyboard, I saw Pitaka mention it was compatible with it, but didn’t think of the model being an issue. Is it that small rim that extrudes out of the camera cutout that causes the problem? I wonder if I could shave it off or something to make it work.

just confirming, I have the case now with the 2018 Smart Keyboard - It totally works, the lip bump of the 2020 camera cutout does cause a tiny gap on that corner when connected to the 2018 smart keyboard, but otherwise works fine, and the magnets still hold it in place without the iPad falling off or anything. Depends on how OCD you are I guess. You will notice the small gap if you look for it, but functionally it still works fine from my experience.

Hi! I can’t confirm either, but Pitaka told me that if you add a plastic screen protector, it should be less than 0.1 mm thin.

Hi! Nope, you can still charge through the USB-C port of the Magic Keyboard :)

The cutout is specifically made for compatibility with the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro. The iPad Pros fit in the Smart Folio (front and back coverage), the Smart Cover is for regular iPads and as far as I know Pitaka doesn't make a case for those. To my eye the Smart Folio wouldn't fit around an iPad Pro in a Pitaka case since it's already a very slim fit.

Hi! Yeah, a tempered glass screen protector doesn't work, so I had to remove it (I'd rather have a case). I haven't put a new screen protector yet, but Pitaka let me know that you could put a thin screen protector as longs as it isn't thicker than 0.1 mm. If ever I try one, or try the Paperlike, I'll upload a new video about it. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

Too bad it won't fit with a tempered glass screen protector, the Jetech one I have is 0.33 mm. The Pitaka case and a Paperlike screen protector together are $110 before tax, more than half of what I paid for my Magic Keyboard recently 😬

Hi! I haven't experienced that yet... I've taken the case on and off a few times, no scratches (yet). Now that I'm settled with it, it's not really needed to take it off anymore.

@@fjordstrom Yes. Ordered the 12.9 version. Yesterday they added also the 2021 version but they don’t swap …. Ok it doesn’t fit, but pencil will not work through the case.

I was bummed about this too. But I got the Satechi Quattro Wireless Charger for Christmas so I haven’t used the USB C charger since getting the Quattro. My plan when the world gets back to some sort of normalcy I’ll use it with the Quattro to charge two watches at once.

Hi! Good question. I asked Pitaka and they mentioned that they can only recommend screen protectors that are thinner than 0.1 mm. While the Paperlike is thicker than that, I’m still tempted to try it out. I reached out to Paperlike and hope to hear from them.
