Without it, we could not have pulled off our seven day overlanding adventure in the Black Hills of South Dakota last summer.

Bought one yesterday based off watching your videos! My only concern is the XP 4 has the 30" tires and RBO said NOT to put a spare on the back because it is not rated for the weight on the door... and can cause the machine to tip backwards in steep terrain. Also, just a suggestion to keep fuel on the outside of the rack, as leaks could potentially cause a fire if they are over the bed.

Yeah those 30s gotta start getting heavy. I’d have never thought about it tipping but I suppose! Might have to buy a second tire and mount it on the front to balance things out 😂 Appreciate you mentioning the fuel location. When we first got the rack I was trying different mounting places for different things, but wound up moving the fuel outside for exactly that reason. It’s a lot safer. Really good point and I’m glad you mentioned it so others see it too. Let us know when you get the rack and how you like it!

I bought one too and installed on my General. I love the rack but I was also disappointed that it recommends the spare be a no more than a 28” and 40 lbs max. Has Anybody tried a 30” to see how it holds up ? I may have to try mounting it on the inside instead.

It would be great if Razorback made a roof replacement that matched the cargo rack. The roof could allow for some light storage and nice light mounts. That (along with the nerf bars you have) should make the complete expedition package. Get all 3 and they could call it the “Northwoods Expedition Package.”

Seriously! I’ve been saying for months that someone needs to make a good roof rack for the General. I found one company that makes one you can stand on but it’s $4k! I’ve even thought about trying to fabricate my own just to hold our clothing bags or our tent on the roof. But I like your marketing idea… 🤔

I'm just gonna build my own, I bought a ranger xp big game edition and I think the best solution is to tie the rack into the bed's frame NOT in the polaris mount holes with expanding plugs. We're going to look at what it takes to take the bed off the frame then build the rack so that it can be loosely installed, conventially mounted into the bed itself by slipping it through the rack and my hope would be that the build out of brackets would support rack weight and not the bed. It would also mean the factory 29" CAN be supported by the rack and the spreading issue wont happen.

That sounds really cool if you can figure it out! It’s not hard to remove the bed from the frame, so if you can figure out the rest of it you could be on to something. It’s be a cool video of you did it! If you figure it out we’d love to see how it turns out.

Nice video sir. Good review. Question, with the extra weight in the rear, and the weight of the rack, does the front end of you rig ever tend to tip up?

Question - can you still access the lock and ride holes in the bed rails?

The ones on the front of the bed are still accessible (except the corners), the sides are blocked. It actually uses four of the side lock and ride holes to mount.

Have you trailered with a cover on your General? We just ordered the Polaris cover (which has great reviews) for our soon to be delivered Ranger Premium. We travel to Wyoming twice a year for the months of May and September, and have been doing this every year for the past 22 years. This will be the first time with a SXS, and I want to give it some protection on the road. Just curious if you ever have, or considered a cover?

We never have but I’ve seen photos of others doing it. Would you let us know how it goes? It’s definitely something that’s crossed our mind. We are going to pick up a windshield cover for now. We finally added a rear window so we don’t take the windshield off anymore while towing.

@@TheNorthwoodsFamily I will let you know after our first trip with it. Polaris claims that it is a 'towable cover' and the comments on it are very good.
