@Special EDy - I almost bought that one, but wanted to review this as a defense gun and felt the longer barrel would be troublesome on that scenario. Still want one though!
@@DocLarsen44 Biggest criticism is same as the single stack. Field strip is hard because of the guide rod. I changed my Guiderod to the dawson precision tooless and it makes it simple. The pistol is accurate and nothing like having 16+ rounds of 10mm. I loved the gun so much, I also bought the match version with the 6” barrel. I had my local gunsmith do a simple trigger job and the gun (both of them) shoot amazingly accurately.
@Daily 40 - I feel that. I did the same thing with a paper clip at first. Then I caved and bought five or so of Kimber's tools and keep them in various places so I don't have e to go looking for the only one I have.
I have this exact model I love it, I seen that it is easier to use a paper clip bent on the end to reach it, then slowly let the slide forward. I am not trying to talk ish. love the review
I am surprised that you didn't even mention the HC (high capacity) model of this pistol. I am very curious as to why? Is there something you have heard about them? Is it because they are made of unobtainium? Please respond as the Tac Ultra FS HC is the pistol I have wanted for a while now! This model should address the 8 round criticism you expressed in the video. I appreciate the fact that you reviewed this Rock Island pistol as there are so few true reviews as opposed to guys showing off "what I just got."
@DocLarsen44 - Oh that review will be coming a little later down the road! I also picked up the Rock Ultra HC in 10mm, but didn't get the tac ultra as I didn't want the threaded barrel. I somewhat wish I had now, as the rail is a really great feature. As a quickie, it's been reliable and fun, but the wider grip requires a bit of tweaking to your trigger pull to not pull your shots. Or, at least for me it does. If you want one, I say get it! I really think you'll be happy. Thanks for the kind words, and I'm happy to give you a real review. I love doing videos showing off what a gun can do to fruit and water bottles, buy I wanted to let people know what to expect of a gun I'm everyday use. I'm very pleased yih found it helpful 🤘😎🤘
I've got a Springfield Armory Ronin government in 10mm. Dang this thing is awesome. The 10mm is the best millimeter. Normally I don't believe in a break in period but with 1911s I've noticed yeah they do. After about 100-500 rounds and Wilson Combat mag's (they should ship with any good 1911) it shoot's anything I shove down it's throat. I do swap out to a heavier recoil spring with buffalo bore 220gr and other full power loads but with the pug loaded 180gr the factory spring works great.
@SMITH - My buddy bought a full-size Ronin in .45 ACP and I have never been that taken with a pistol that fast. Damn, those are nice guns! I want one in 10mm, but have other priorities right now. Oh well. Someday.
Out of curiosity: is it possible to insert the tool in the hole on the guide rod BEFORE you take the slide of the gun? That way it might hold back the slide at the right spot to remove the slidestop.
@Merlijn Wiersma - Not really. I was able to make a modified tool by taking a pair of wire cutters to a paperclip. But I am not certain the spring tension won't eventually snap it, so I stick to removing the whole slide assembly. This is the way they tell you to remove it in the manual too. Pain in the neck!
Triggers are kinda individual and hard to get a sweet spot when mass producing a Pistol. Plus The Lawyers and Insurance carriers maybe chimed in. Capacity wise unless your going to redesign the Grip area and a new Mag to fit it, ( Which is Money wasted if no one buys the model.) Plus new caliber. I would rather have them perfect what they have and get the kinks out on existing Components before trying a different frame or magazine design. For the price point I am guessing its a redesigned .45 magazine. Since the slide it was out of spec. I don't know that I would want them to take too much of a leap forward in the design studio. Get the Kinks out of the whole system first.
Ah hell....Just give me a straight up ,no frills, bells or whistles, all steel, GI 1911A1 in .45ACP and two extra magazines and I will feel very well armed indeed when I carry it concealed.
I got a 9 mm and it fail you to pull the empty brass out I seen it off to him and I fixed and it did not cost me a dime I do got the warranty full size 9
And the grips are very thick. My 22Tcm that included the 9mm conversion kit is a double stack and it has a thick grip. Not uncomfortable for me, but I have slightly larger hands than most.
@Adam Arens - The Glock 20 and 40 are great guns. I also really like Smith & Wesson's new M&P 2.0 10mm. I like that grip better than the Glock. I do also like the double stack RIA 1911s too.
@@kstofkos I have been really impressed with mine. I started watching your comparison video, but had someone (wife) steal my attention. Planning on finishing it later today.
