Shout out to the 45 Colt. It can be loaded down to gentle, or up to dinosaur-dropping with the right revolver to put it in.

Mine too, for the same reason. There will be those who argue for the .429 caliber (.44) for similar reasons. And they have a point due to the slightly smaller diameter of cylinders and so forth where it gets chambered, the thickness of chamber walls and so on. Yet, with moderate velocity you can punch a 11% larger hole, you can get identical velocity from a given bullet weight with less recoil (due to less pressure). I suppose however, the greatest reason for liking a cartridge is pure emotion. haha

@@exothermal.sprocket I love them both, but I’m always amazed how much power the .45 Colt can generate at 20,000 psi or less. Smith Mountain Guns can get pretty snappy in the recoil department.

I love my five inch muzzle brake equipped X-frame revolver from S&W in 460 S&W magnum. Called the 460V it is akin to having a 3.5 inch chambered 12 gauge shotgun that can chamber and shoot 3 inch and 2 3/4 inch shells. The 460V will shoot 460 S&W magnum, 454 Casull, 45 Colt max loads like the Garrett Cartridges of Texas 405 grain Hammer Head hard cast gas check clad 45 Colt for RHO aka Redhawk Only. But shoots safely in the 460V I own. 45 Schofield if you can find it. Lehigh Defense makes an absurdly long 45 Colt solid copper Long hollow point for Taurus Judge revolvers that also chamber and shoot from my 460V S&W X-frame revolver.

Fortunately, I now own two 460's, unfortunately neither is a 460 S&W. Just bought a 460 Weatherby Magnum, and 505 Gibbs. Still need to go shoot my 460 Rowland Glock.

@Special EDy - I hear the recoil on that .505 Gibbs is legendary. A friend of mine shot 25 rounds in a row one day and detached a retina! I hear the .460 Weatherby isn't any better. For the .460 Rowland, SHOOT IT! Great round!

She wouldn't happen to have a sister or a cousin would she? 😂 That's excellent buddy. How do you like the BFR? I have a ton of revolvers, but no BFR yet. For one, I can't decide on the cartridge and for another, my Desert Eagle is really cantankerous, and it gives me pause.

Aye, no sister but her cousin scares me!! I'm a wheelgun fan too, my old gaffer was a gunsmith and he thought Dick Casull was up there with Einstein! I really like the BFR, most out there were the 8" barrel abouts, so not that packable when you are sharing the woods and rivers with brown bears...have had too many close encounters😵‍💫 They are proud of the price though

Auto Mag! - back in the 80's. It was not simple - making your brass - load data - before the internet. and trust me. Recoil! I have been shooting 44 yrs - and when a police officer asks to shoot my Ruger 44 - I pull out the - "Hold my beer ammo" In 40 yrs - I have had not a single officer - fire more than one round. My Buddy - had the Auto-Mag - and he had the same experience. John and his 5 round revolver - well we all wished we were sitting on his shoulder as he touched off a round at a Cape Buffalo. @Centurion Wizofid - The Auto Mag was a serious handgun with serious power. It's too bad they never got it off the ground. The new ones are improved design and steel, so it will be interesting to see how that goes. And they are super pricey!

Great video as always and I think the 460 is the most versatile cartridge out there in my opinion and the fact that you can use multiple cartridges in the revolver for smaller shooters or new shooters is great

The 460 does it all. 200 gr reduced recoil, cowboy action 45 colt ammo. I reload 45 colt so that it is very easy for children to shoot. ( let’s don’t forget 45 Schofield). Of course you can move up along the line of ammo to the 460 mag. The 460 mag can drop any animal that the 500 magnum can drop. 460 mag does it ALL!! 😊

I would enjoy that as well. I took the .327 route, because I'm weird for one and because I liked what it could do on paper. Then I bought one, and then a few more. The 100 grain Federal leads blow holes through 4x4 treated pine like a 30 Carbine round out of a 4 inch SP101. So I fell in love with a strange round and haven't experimented with what the .357 can do.

Same here.. Who makes a pig of a 357 that can take a whoopin? I'm sure people aren't lining up at the range to fire off their hand loads out of a korth or a python...or even a manuhrin.. which I hear is a hell of a tough gun. But at 3 grand I don't think that many people are itchin to see just how much abuse it'll handle. (I'm not exactly sure what the price is on them but I think that's what it was when I looked at them a while ago) very cool guns though. I wouldn't mind owning one...especially if it can handle unleashing the fury.

Of the cartridges I use, 10mm is oddly my favorite, no idea why... It's even used in my most basic pistol (basic as in no red dot, light/laser). ...I might just be a big bore fan, but don't know it yet!

Great video, love the channel! I'm a big fan of the 41 mag but I'm also a Coors Light guy and preferer Remington Core Lokt's, sooo there ya go. Anyway, Big fan of Magnum pistols and just grateful that somebody had enough sense to make an entire channel dedicated to them. Great Work!

My largest handgun is a magnum resarch BFR 10 inch barrel in 450 marlin. I'm really looking forward to getting a .475 or 500 linebaugh bfr next year. And a 45-90, 45-70, 450 bushmaster cylinder for the one I have currently.

@roboman3578 - I just picked up a .45-70 BFR for the channel and I am in the process of testing it out. I am digging it. FYI - The .450 Bushmaster won't work in the .450 Marlin barrel. The .450 Marlin, .45-70, .45-90, and .458 Socom all use 0.458" bullets while the .450 Bushmaster uses .452" or .451" bullets. You can chamber it in a .469 S&W Magnum BFR If you want.

@@ChoseDeath It was either the 500 max or the 475 max that tore the Past shooting glove on Seyfried. I've got a Past glove I've used for 20+ years and have used it with any magnum you could think of besides those 2 and only has a few frayed stitches.

I think the .460 Rowland from deserves some attention here. Comparing it to the .44 Magnum is really optimistic, but increase in power from the .45 ACP with from the same pistols is impressive.

Yes the 460 may be faster but with a litter bullet 180 too 200 gr versus 454 265 gr.

460 is not limited to those lighter bullets. It is literally a magnum version of the 454. It will do anything that round can, and then some.

I dont know about all of that but whoever keeps ordering those gold plated desert eagles needs to stop saying "hold my bag of blow" whenever somebody comes up with a shinier, fancier finish.
