Britain only controlled Caribbean, Mediterranean seas and Indian Ocean. Bretton woods treaty of 1946 saw the US Navy as the global defacto Navy of the world. Britain tried to extend it's military dominance in the suez canal crisis in 1953 in which the US government and Soviet union sided with Egypt. This saw the end of British naval dominance of the oceans. If anything, at least the United States like Britain preserves Anglo Saxon dominance of the world.
