I love DA/SA pistols! Love my CZ97, My combat grey Beretta 92FS was a great deal and probably my most accurate semi auto 9mm, don’t have a Sig Legion (have a little 938 and a Sig AR though 😁) but I’ve been contemplating a police trade in P229 in 357 Sig for $350 what a deal!?! A conversion barrel for my FN40 is almost that much anyways! 🤔😳

Chris, thanks for another great video. I really enjoy your content. As an old guy who was around and owned a SIG P-series pistol in the earliest days, when they were called "Browning BDA's" and having owned dozens since, I smile a bit when I hear younger shooters remark on control positions and slides not locking back on the last round. That is because the SIG's control positions were designed in an era when we gripped a pistol very differently, influenced by our experience with revolvers. I've got a couple of P229's that were LE guns from the early 2000's. One shoots .40/.357 SIG and the other is an older 9mm with the 13 shot frame, both with night sights. They were both bought as Certified Pre-Owned SIGS.. I have less than the price of one Legion invested in both guns total, the extra barrel, and extra magazines. We shot them side by side with my young friend's new Legion not long ago. The Legion is a fine pistol, but neither he as a relatively new shooter, nor me as an old dog, could really justify the price difference. I think that the CPO program is an excellent way for people with not as much money to spend on a handgun to experience SIG quality, especially in the older guns, without breaking the bank. Again, nice video Sir.

Decocking is an administrative activity. There is no need to maintain a full grip for administrative actions. It goes back to Clint Smith's comment where you don't want to take the gun apart in the middle of the immediate fight (paraphrasing regarding reloading and when to do it). If bullets are still flying, decocking the gun is not important.

I just bought my first Sig, a P226 Legion, during a 4th of July sale at a local gun shop for $1000. I have only shot 250 rounds out of it but i became a Sig guy overnight. The gun shoots amazing and feels superb in the hand. Great vid, really enjoyed your review, seemed pretty unbiased and excellent quality. Most people either love the guns or pretend to hate them for one reason or another but really just don't like sig and hate "sig fanboys" so they bash them. Yeah they are expensive but they feel like they should be.
@kermitthefrog5926
@kermitthefrog5926 2 года назад
@0:57 Wrong. Berretta is almost the equal of Sig Sauer. The American miltary chose Berretta over Sig because the 92's were like $200 cheaper than the p226's. The Navy Seals chose the Sig p226 over the 92 because they wanted what was best, not sacrificing reliability for price.

The undercut and trigger are worth the $300 extra alone considering what it would cost to send a stock gun or Elite model in to Sig or a custom shop to get the work done once you factor in a frame refinish, shipping costs, and all of that.

300 bucks difference between that and the standard model? My best advice to the average noob with at best rudimentary shooting skills that buy these is to buy the standard model and spend the difference on actual training on learning to shoot a pistol, and learning to shoot it well

@M - I would fall into the “average noob” category, but I’m going the extra money for the Legion. There are times when paying the extra money for features you may not use are worth it. I’d rather wait a little longer and get what I want. I respect your opinion and don’t necessarily disagree with it. I’ve had my eye on a Legion P226 for months now. I don't know why but every SIG I've shot is crazy accurate. This is something I can count on but....and it's a big but, I can't afford the P226-P229 pistols. I did buy two 938's when PSA was selling them at great prices and I bought the P250 (which I love) and the P2022 which I like a little less than the rest but even the 938's shoot like a dream and that's great for such a small carry pistol.

As a few viewers already commented, you compact more information in your 7:41 than most do in twice the time, so thanks firstly for that. I recently traded my X Carry Pro for P229 Legion. Excellent ergonomics and grip combined with great combat sights makes for easy, rapid target alignment. Found this weapon fine tunes my level of competence this far. On a negative side, my main grudges being the magazines - extremely tight, once I'd overcomes the loading episode, there's the issue of loading the magazine into the housing. The springs are so tight, needed to smack them home. As a result once the weapon was hot, say 100+ rounds, I had two failures to go into Battery. There's a noticeable drag upon cocking the weapon. I reached out to Sig, their response is pretty much what I had expected and already guessed. Given the hype etc AND let's not forget the $$$$ I did not take this well. I remember having similar magazine / battery issues with the P365 initially also. That gradually bedded itself in and all was smooth as... I'm hoping this will be no different. Thanks again for your time and efforts.

Gray guns trigger system, cerakote or PVD (depending on manufacture date), higher undercut, polished action, solid steel guide rod to reduce muzzle flip, G10 grips, 3 magazines, and when you register, they send you a second ballistic softshell case. Is that worth $300? Hell yes it is, its worth more than that. I see reviews on legions that leave out the majority of this stuff.

Go to the Elite models. They give you the same mechanicals, extended Beaver Tail, SRT, night sights, trigger guard undercut. You don't need the silly poseur Legion coin and different grips. Love my P227 Elite and P226 Elite, saved $600+ combined. The Beretta open slide/exposed barrel is a dubious design, confirmed by decades of critics. The firing group parts of all Sig Sauer P2XX pistols is Glock simple - but more substantial materials, tighter tolerances, and don't forget Sig's full length slide rails for precision operation. Doesn't rattle when shot like every polymer and lesser metal designs.
@thewalls7770
@thewalls7770 8 лет назад
Very well done. I agree with most of your conclusions too. Two of the things I don't like about the Legion are the smaller controls and the shape of the new trigger. For that reason, I have stayed with a standard 229-1 with an SRT kit. I do wish I could get the undercut trigger guard, though.

I got my P229 Legion from my wife as a 10 year anniversary present and I absolutely love it, by far the best shooting gun right out of the box I currently own the trigger reset or lack there of is phenomenal. My 1 con is one thing you mentioned and that is the finish isn't as durable as it should be for 1200 bucks but seeing as I'll never part with this pistol its a small negative for all the positives. I also have a P226 That I had some custom work done to and honestly from a shooting stand point its really close and the work I had done on my 226 cost closer to 500 so I feel the extra cost for the legion is just fine. Looking forward to the release of the 238 or 938 legion.

I had the same reaction. Drills are one thing. In real life, if you've found it necessary to fire your weapon, then when you come to low-ready, I can't imagine why you would de-cock - until you re-holster.

I hit the decocker like second nature. Never once thought it’s hard to get to

Lucky Gunner Ammo could you do a review on a Beretta Px4 Storm on either size of a compact or a Full-Size model of a 9mm or either caliber since I also carry a Full-Size Beretta on me everyday most of the time but sometimes I carry a 1911 but MOST of the time it's my Px4 Storm I carry on me most of the time

Hello Chris, one more time you "master" the video, serious. Is first class information with a very good opinion (after actually using the pistol). You are not pushing to buy anything but opening the door and eyes to a possible buyer... Honestly congrats and thank you again for your time and expertise. Just one quick question, can you advance the video for the CZ's SP01 Tactical, before the 30th of February 2017? as you advice previously...
@LuckyGunner
@LuckyGunner 8 лет назад
Honestly, if I do something with the CZ75 series, it will probably be one of the compact models like the P01.
@obbionekanovi
@obbionekanovi 8 лет назад
Thanks, better than nothing... So you don't think much about the SP01 tactical? Thanks.
@LuckyGunner
@LuckyGunner 8 лет назад
There's nothing wrong with it, I just think that compact/mid-size firearms that can be carried are a lot more relevant to most people's self-defense needs.
@obbionekanovi
@obbionekanovi 8 лет назад
Got it, the P01 is very similar to the SP01 except for size and weight, material made and capacity... Will be very intrrsting to see your review. Thanks again and stay safe.

Sorry just remember...the Beretta 92 is a full size pistol... same size than CZ 75 SP01...

Is there any difference between this gun and the P229 Elite? It looks identical but with a lighter gray color and the emblem in the grip.

Even later to the party but yeah, the CZ, the PX4 compact carry as well as smaller versions of Beretta’s 92 series……and maybe the HK P30SK…..along with the P229, as good as DA/SA carry gets. Guess that’s why I have them all except for the CZ

You do a wonderful job with your videos and this one is no exception to that. However, I must say that while I absolutely love my standard P229, I am still not sold on the subtle differences on the Legion are worth the cost increase. I suppose it is all in the eye of the beholder, but from my vantage point, give me the standard.

The Stainless Elite has almost all of the same features as the Legion, and can be bought for about $100-$200 less. It is also arguably the more attractive gun, but my personal bias aside, they're probably a statistical tie when it comes to looks. If you prefer an aluminum frame, the Talo version can be had in the $800-$900 range brand new. Definitely cross-shop the Stainless Elite and Stainless Elite Talo if you are considering the Legion. Your wallet (and wife) may thank you.

The legion has the undercut, low profile controls, checkering on the lower trigger guard, better sights, better coating, arguably better grips, shorter beavertail, and comes with 3 mags not 2. Legions are in stores for 999-1099 right now. really not a bad deal considering Extremes and Elites sell for 929-1050. As far as which looks better is subjective. I like all Sigs though. lol

good review but I wouldn't get too deep into comparing to a Beretta . I've fired both and had plenty of mechanical malfunctions w the Beretta. not one w a Sig. good review tho

Incorrect sir you can decock this gun correctly using a modern grip without breaking your form, you must use your left hand, the placement of the de cocker was very well thought out.

This was the first handgun I bought I have yet to find another that I even care for. Rifles on the other hand I find a new one I want every other week, sig should make a legion rifle maybe that's what will finally stop my craving. Lol

Sig Sauer should of never got rid of their SAS models! Best trigger in a double/single action I've ever shot. I do like some of the difference on a legion series but I don't think its worth a difference of $300.00 also Sig also needs to have magazine replacement parts and kits no one is going to spend $44.00 on a new magazine when other firearms have entire magazine replacement parts/kits for extremely low cost.
