Hey, friends!
In this review I will do my best to go over a nice and pretty affordable solution to get autofocus wide angle with Sony full frame cameras.
As I started to use motorized 3-axis gimbals I quickly realized the demand for wide angle lens in my kit that could provide a good reliable autofocus with Sony a7s series cameras. So, it should be native E-mount full frame glass. The first lens that came to my mind was Sony 16-35mm Vario-Tessar T FE F4 ZA OSS. Great piece of glass with built-in optical stabilizer, but quite expensive. What is more, I recently fall in love with the look from fast wideagnle glass like Samyang Cine24mm T1.5 and F/4 on 16-35 was not something that inspired me.
After long search, I settled on Sony SEL28F20 FE 28mm f/2 coupled with Sony SEL075UWC Ultra Wide Converter and I love this combo! Now I have fast wide all-around 28 mm with f/2 and ultra wide 21 mm f/2.8 for flying on agimbal. And all that with robust Sony autofocus.
In this video I focus on pros and cons of using Sony 28mm f/2 separately and with Sony SEL075UWC for video work as well as show what ultra-wide converter adds to the field of view on examples.
