I love my ranger but those are some really cool little trucks. It would be cool to see one try and go where I go in my truck, I think suspension flex and water crossing depth would be tough on it but for the majority of "off roading" these would do just fine.
If you have a standard ranger 4x4 and not fx4 or above it should go pretty much everywhere that it's departure angle won't hurt it. I guess a Tremor with a 1.5" lift and 245/70r17s it would go anywhere a modern ranger with base 4x4 and a locked rear would go. But mpg will be up at least a couple miles if not more. Plus even with the lift and heavier tires, it would be faster, corner better, and be more stable in snowy conditions. Ride comfort would be a lil better. Overall cost would be a little cheaper after mods. The only major compromises would be towing and a foot of bed space. Believe me I went over this for 2 years between a larger Bronco, a Ranger, and a Gladiator. I ended up with a Tremor with a topper for $34,000 all in after dealer discount, they do exist if you are willing to wait. In the end I lost the ability to tow heavy-ish, but gained speed and ease of driving for my wife all while saving $5-6000 for similar features and few more $ at the pump. Had it for almost a year, no issues and is a joy to drive anywhere.
