Reviewing Austrack Tanami x11 Hybrid offroad Caravan / Trip Around Aus / Touring setup 

I'm an awful lot older than you and I've been towing trailers and caravans for probably twice as long as you've been alive. Therefore I feel justified in making the following comments...I just love the way you've approached all of this. You've obviously done your homework. You have accepted that things won't always be perfect, without spitting the dummy. And most importantly, you know the weight issues and appreciate the risk / insurance side of it. There are an alarming number of people out there who are a lot older and supposedly more experienced than you, that in comparison to you guys don't have a clue about the risks they are taking, and the risk they represent to other road users. Bloody well done, the two of you. Subscribed and waiting for more content. Cheers.

Mate, so sorry to hear about your issues and no they are not minor, we purchased the MDC version and did so much research and inspection before we bought one and I have to say I am very impressed with the quality of construction. I think half the fun of having these vans is doing and improving so many things yourself so keep reporting on your issues so others will have all the information they need at time of purchase but over time you will add on things that make it you special van. Good on the both of you for this video review. I have recently bought a X 15 with bunks and having many issues like you. I bought this van unseen and the after service was terrible. They were happy to take my money but the sales assistant did not get back to me even after I contacted the service centre. I have found one lady that has gone above and beyond to send all the missing items. Fridge, Pin lock for trailer, wind up tool for the stablisers, TV remote, wash rack above sink........saying all of that we are about to live in our van too for a period of time and Im sure I will come across more. Your walk through video has been amazing I have watched it over and over as I didn't get a hand over either. Im having issues with the air con at the moment and can't working!!! I have checked the main like you said. Donna

Thanks for the review guys. We’ve just purchased our Tanami x15 (Qld) and the soonest delivery slot is next year March (2022). We’ll try to remember these points when we take delivery. Great channel 👍👍

just a heads up guys, you are no orphans when it comes to customer service in this unregulated industry...once you pass the dollars over your on your own generally. ALL vans grossly over priced, theyre just an esky on wheels after all, fitted with an electric light...just wait until they tell you the gaps in the poorly jointed trim is your fault....too much rough road....Hundreds of us owners out here are in the same boat....our first van literally fell to bits on our first trip thru the centre when the road was smooth as, and it was a higher priced jobby too....Enjoy what you have, lifes too short for any regrets......cheers, and great "tell all " vid

Just watching your video guys and I think your minor problems with new vans are common. We had similar problems with our small new van but lucky we are only 15 minutes away from the manufacturer. Quality control missed your problems and I think the company should address that big time!! Enjoy your trip around this great land.

Don’t pull your hair out mate as you mentioned places you want to use it and go to Gibb River Road, Cape York can buy a 80K - 90k Aussie van and would have to do even more prep and $$$ than your little Van, lot of issues you mentioned ALL VANS NEED prep trips like yours 👍 Your Van’s a little ripper mate and perfect for what your doing, the places you are going to be able to get into and awesome spots the other Vans can’t you will be amazed mate.

Great follow up review guys, I have a Jayco Expanda and while they look great they have quality control issues too. Bring on May!!

Wow the workmanship is really crap! They maybe little things but its $40k. Who signs off on this van needs a word with. I like how honest you are. I came over from Sarah and Jimmy channel after the lovely comment you left. I'm from Perth too and a friend got her caravan(unsure of make) and there was so many things wrong after waiting 9 months for it... Drive safe and can't wait for your adventures.

Welcome to the world of new vans , always minor issues no matter what brand you buy not ideal however as you said the wheels have not fell off.

Good on you for the honest review, it makes a difference when the reviewer has actually spent the money. I like the van, and really suprised at the workmanship. I guess thats what happens when it is made in China and fitted out here. Looks a bit rushed maybe because of the pressure on these companies at the moment.

Hi guys, well done on the video. I have subscribed and watched a couple of videos so far. I am additionally looking forward to following your travels around Australia. It was a good review of the van so thank you for your honesty. During the vid you asked for feedback and if i could offer a couple of things you may not have thought of. First point, Your channel came up as someone I haven't watched in my RU-vid feed. I watched a video because i like travel, 4WD'ing and Australian content. Then I forgot about you not because your videos were not in my feed but because after only watching one or two vids i didn't have the recall I do with Ronnie or 4WD 24/7 or some others. A suggestion for you, take it or leave it would be to make the thumbnail a photo of your faces looking at maybe the van, the camp site, the track the whatever. Train you subscribers to look out for your faces in their feeds. It may got some way to subscribers picking up a new video earlier and watching it. Take the for what its worth, if you establish a thumbnail 'look' it may help with early views. Second point, keep looking at the camera. I have never looked into a camera and tried to find words to say. It must be the mot harrowing and scary hing to do. I suppose that over time it will become easier but until then try to make yourself do it. Even if you practice while you are driving around by yourself. It's a skill, you both look great on cam and practice does make perfect. That's enough for me, I wish you every success with the channel and the big lap you are planning. Just a tip: Your floor is made from marine ply (like many other caravans). If there is a small water leak somewhere from your John Guest fittings (toilet, sink, etc) and you won't notice it straight away but the floor will go soft and needs to be replaced eventually. Big $$$. Get a few battery operated water alarms off Ebay and chuck them on those areas. Small investment - big savings! Some of the other Chinese caravans are now coming with honeycomb fibreglass floors (MDC). They don't have that issue anymore. Your walls are aluminum anyway so that's good.

Good on the both of you . You're very forgiving on the poor finishing throughout the van . Be mindful of that Chinese trailing arm suspension. We had exactly the same and it was rubbish . Shocks broke in the first few months . I replaced them with better quality ones . Good luck on your trip on the Gibb sensational country up there , enjoy.

Just come across your channel. Great vid & great to see some youngsters living their dream. Tip would be to get a wireless mic (Rode Wireless Go II), plug it into your phone or camera and make sure the mic end has the little fluffy thing on the end. It will keep that annoying wind away as well as when you turn away from camera wont effect sound. Comes with 2 mics so you could both be miced up. Would take your vids to another level. Good luck!!

unfortunately My partner and I have had the same issue with Austrack Campers when we purchased an ex demo rearfold 2017. we wanted to upgrade to a hybrid a couple of years later and sue to the after sales service we didnt go back.

Hi Guys.... I know the warranty issues are a pain in the rear but some are worth doing yourself. The reason for this is it teaches you about your RV. This can be priceless. What I would do is check the things you can’t see, it is generally these things that cause the most heart break when you are on the road. Check & double check wheel bearings, springs, shocks etc Ya doing well guys

Hi guys thanks for sharing We have been van hunting as well so you gave us a few tips to look for when buying and inspecting new vans. Are you guys still happy with your van and would you still recommend the 11ft van? Did you end up installing the positive pressure fan, if so did it work to keep the dust out?

Been looking at these sort of hybrid vans for a coupla months now and there is quite a few differnt companys in W.A. that sell them such as MDC ,PMX, Fantacy, Stoney Creek. Why did you choose this Brand ?? just asking still tryin to convice the wife this is what sort of van we want .. I have an 09 120 Prado, tow range is the same as your 150, does the 150 tow it ok off road, like beach ect... ?

I am wondering which dealer you bought from as I felt the woman at the dealership I bought from was quite short when I asked questions also and the hand over was rushed like they just wanted me to put it on the car and get the hell out of there.

You get the same treatment with car manufacturers. They’re your best mates pre-purchase and then post-purchase you deal with non interested service departments who don’t really give a rats and charge the earth for repairs etc. From what you have relayed so far, I wouldn’t buy from these scumbags. Thanks for sharing.

some of the issues you have might be small but you will see them everyday and be pissed off everyday because of them, so get them fixed or don't look at them

All caravan + camper sales companies in Australia are all tared with the same brush I am sorry to say once they have your money they treat you like dirt

That $10k you saved are the quality issues you're having, which will ultimately destroy the van over the long term.
