All of the second round matchup is so good and so close. All series to be decided in 6 or 7 games. Kind of makes up the lacklustre first round.

I think once we got to the second round, the chaff was dismissed and we got down to 8 talented, hard working, and determined teams (instead of the 12 we started with). It’s great to see.

Yeah no offense to the Kings and I don't mean to pile on... But I don't see them having much success even if they got past the first round. Maybe against Vancouver apparently they are that teams kryptonite.

@@MattAlbieyeah I wholeheartedly took them as a first round exit and in 5 games to Edmonton, just the way they played was more disappointing than I thought it would be. Skinner getting a shutout reflects more on how bad LA was on offense more than him being stellar in net.

After the frustration of game 4 I just assumed we'd get finished in 5 but the more my rational brain kicked in I thought we'd see something like this from the Avs. This core never goes quietly into the night, they are very difficult to finish off when their back is against the wall. Whatever happens from here on out its been a good year

Keep doing what you do Shannon! GO AVS! I really wish Manson wasn't the only Av that wasnt afraid to hit. Yes we had a lot of hits but I have no idea who is in charge of the hit counter but man, a mean look (that is really an exhausted sigh) gets counted as a hit.

Manson is not inteligent though. I dont care about hits. He tends to turn it over at the worst possible time and it costs them. His decision making is suspect. But he does play well from time to time.

GUTS ALL OVER THE PLACE!! Keep it up Avs!! Edit: the playing Creed to try and channel the Texas Rangers’ World Series energy…taking another team’s rally song, no matter if it’s through different sports, almost never works. I remember a game this year that the Avs made a huge comeback after an opponent played “All the Small Things”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have to say that I have noticed one weakness in Jake Oettingers game. Believe both Vegas and now Colorado have noticed. He gets lost when the play goes behind the net and is either very indecisive which contributes to him being or he is just incredibly slow moving from post to post. The wrap around attempts will continue. Makar had to have tried nearly 5 times tonight.

@heathclark318 Also can't keep his stick on the ice when he flops. Lets in min two goals per game through the five hole. He also doesn't come out enough to challenge shooters- leaves top corners too open. We need a serious goalie upgrade before we can make it through the second round of playoffs.

Makars second goal was deflection from defenders stick. It was meant to be pass to Lehkonen. That's why Oettinger was slow to react.

The reason why Creed song are significant is because it became a clubhouse anthem for the Texas Rangers when they were having postseason success that ended with them winning the world series.

Jake Oettinger was abysmal tonight. Silver lining is that he plays lights out on the road and after bad games. Dallas has to end this on Friday or they will lose in 7. That blown lead in game 1 will haunt them if they blow this series . Game 6 is gonna be one for the ages

I was at the Stars game, and I regret going. My presence seems to always curse them. Also, I never want to hear living on a prayer or friends in low places ever again. I hate both songs with a fiery passion because they are overplayed to shit. Not to mention, the Stars seem to always get worse after they are played.

@@mortecai222the stars are a great team. But it seems to me that every stars win has come when Colorado has played poorly. Game 1 was the only game where I felt both teams played pretty well and CO capitalized. Games 2-4 Colorado played poorly and let Dallas play. Dallas didn't have a terrible game last night, sure they could have played better, but overall they played pretty good. But it seems to me that when Colorado looses it's more because they are not talking to each other or gripping their sticks to tight. If Colorado played every game like they did last night, this series would be over.

@@DinoDr3wGames 2-4, Avs would lose the puck when no Stars players were around and the Stars would capitalize. And Stars were just better holding onto the puck. When the Avs decided to forecheck, which their third and 4th lines do really well, they caused turnovers.

Kudos to the Avs logo on the board. The Avs should never have gotten rid of that logo on the shoulders. My favorite hat has that logo on the front and a small regular Avs logo on the back.

That is a surprise. Avs came out and played hockey. Wild what happens when they decide to play. Stars had more PPs, including a 6 on 4 and couldn't capitalize on it. So the refs were not favoring one team over the other.

Will say that I wasn’t a big fan of the tanev penalty call, obv it was a cross check to the face and drew blood can’t argue that, but it should’ve been a 4/4 offsetting penalty because Rantanen came around the net and cross checked tanev after the play and he reached hard for it, tanev just responded to him doing it(which I didn’t like him doing) other than that I felt what they did call was fair

cycling is a matter of moving the puck around and 2 - 3 players switching spots to find an opening by drawing out and tiring out the defence you can cycle it in different areas in the attacking zone for example cycling up high (d to d to winger) cycle it in the corner (winger to c to winger or winger to center to d) often the shape will be a triangle moving in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction depending on area to keep passing lanes open or they will use the boards to move it around

Avs still played pretty sloppy and made a lot of boneheaded mistakes, especially those penalties by Mikko, and that turnover was tough by Manson. Toews pretty much cost this team 2 goals. Delay of game and turnover in their zone. If they clean up those dumb decisions just a bit, just a bit! They have a chance in game 6

Avs played a full 60 for once 😄. Though not really surprising given the stats for game 5s like you said and Oettinger clearly did not have his best game. Dallas likely wins in 7 at this point.

I think we all knew Avs would come back and not go out that way. I think we all know one of the reasons Otter fell off the horse was he couldn't get a garbage song out of his head. This should wake up Dallas and get them ready to close out the next. Game seven would be fun to watch though. Edge of the seat fun.

Shannon You may or may not have heard and by your comment it seems you haven't.... I've heard a number of players during the playoffs say while playing home is all well and good, some teams turn into road warriors because on the road they find less distractions than they do at home! And truthfully, imo from 52 yrs of watching hockey, to be called champion, you need to be able to play anyone anywhere!
