@@yumietsuchinoko it was sooo entertaining to watch!! When I talk to my friends about BA characters, what I found useful has been indicating if it's worth investing in, and when it would be worth it. That might be something you might be interested in for a future video, too! It's not an outright guide for specific content (we can leave that for people that are more knowledgeable) but by telling them the scenarios when it's worth investing in which characters, I've gotten feedback that it's been helpful. Ex: when someone asks me if Aris is worth investing in, I tell them that she excels in blue raids where you need to hit multiple units because her shots go through enemies and it's worth investing in if they need mystic DPS for missions or if they want to have an easier time with perorodzilla.

A few quick notes based on people's fantastic comments! a) 1 and 2 star students are indeed farmable in some hard missions, although I've found myself prioritized farming 3 star students since 1 and 2 stars are quite easy to obtain from gacha rolls. That being said, if there is a 2 star character that you like and you can grind for them on hard missions, absolutely try to snag them that way if you haven't been lucky with gacha rolls! b) I've now confirmed that way back when I first started, Nonomi's elephs were bugged in the Starter Mission, which made it so players had to dip into their elephs to bring her up to a three star, but that is no longer the case! If you start out as a new player, you will be given enough elephs to automatically bring Nonomi to a three star, which invalidates one of my biggest criticisms about her (much to my relief!!) c) I received a very good addendum for Mashiro's normal form: at max EX-level, Mashiro has a 75% chance of dealing extra damage instead of a 50% chance, which is a substantial upgrade. This would be pretty expensive to build, since maxing out EX-skills is a very resource intensive process, but if you like Mashiro and want her to hit harder, then maxing out her EX-skill is a worthwhile investment! d) Some folks picked up on the fact that I said Recollection Libraries, when they should be Recollection Lobbies... that 100% slipped by me during editing, since I call them libraries in conversation but lobbies is the correct term! I'll point that out in my second video, but my apologies for struggling with English... it is... always a struggle...

When I first started out, we weren't given enough elephs to make her a 3 star, but now I'm curious if that was patched to fix that, since I started once it first dropped. I'll look into that and add that as a correction, since that would make her much easier to build!

You know Yumie is really passionate(obsessed) with this game, reviewing EVERY student really shows how much she cares. Not gonna lie, all of the students are just really sweet and lovely, if you ask me who is my favorite, I would have a hard time answering. I'll take my time watching this video on my free time, because every character deserves the attention.

I still can't believe this one managed to be 3 hours... That means that Part 2 will definitely be at least 3 hours as well, since all those Millennium students stack up realllyyyyy quickly...
I find this a very defensible review for every student in Blue Archive! Even as an active player it was refreshing to listen through each character; explanations were very clear in just listening to the audio, but also the visuals added help highlight and enhance the topic discussed. I look forward to 10k!

I worked for a really long time on the script for this video to try and make it as balanced as possible, since I think just about every character has some role that they can fill in the game, and ultimately, people will play the characters they enjoy the most, so providing whatever advice I can to make those characters shine is the least that I can do!

It really is!! Especially for starting out as a 2 star, she is absolutely incredible. I've had so much fun running her throughout the game, and with this current event, the enemies are so tightly clustered that she has been shredding through them for event stage clearing!

I finally played the global version of Blue Archive because of your short summary of Aru 😂 (she's my first 3 stars & fully max) and alot of Mika in my recommendations. I am a doofus who ignores meta to collect and empower (cheaply, no whales except S. Hoshino's that I still need) every student that I can, regardless of value or utility. But it is still fascinating to see where everyone really excels. I appreciate your efforts to give each student a fair shake.
Oh MAN if that isn't the truth!! I did not expect to talk so much about Blue Archive, even though I was already pretty obsessed with it, and I expected my first videos to be a one and done deal where I would release the videos and maybe a few hundred people would find them useful. I'd even resigned myself to the fact that I would only get to talk about Blue Archive once and then maybe I'd be able to slip in another video at the 2nd year Anniversary with updates that people might find useful... Soooooo when the videos ended up taking off like they did, I was genuinely shocked and very pleasantly surprised; it really feels like I hit the jackpot with how awesome and excited this community is, since it's given me the chance to dive more into this game that I absolutely adore!! That is exactly what I had hoped for with these videos; I think that it can be really easy to fall into buying packs and trying to grab "meta" characters, but there are so many ways to play games for free or more affordably, and working to carefully save up gems to grab characters you're really interested in is well worth the effort! I'm so glad that my videos have been so great to watch... knowing that you all are completely on board with waiting for me to get these all edited and released is so reassuring, since I want to make these as good as I can when I share them on the channel!

Congrats on the part 1 release! It really is a very well designed and presented trove of information. I like the educational seriousness with occasional insets of personal preference, it really helps watch-ability. Giving Juri that spooky intro was extremely kind of you. She's so hard working but I can never warrant picking her for anything. Glad to see that she got some love and I hope they give her an alt outfit for a more playable form. I had no idea that Swimsuit Hifumi was the first vehicle character, it goes a long way to explaining her EX cost. When they announced they would be giving her a unique item I was ecstatic. "Now comes the cost reduction!" I thought. But no, it's just more damage and collateral explosions. Why? Nexon I want to use her. She loves that tank and deserves to show it off. Let her drift! I feel bad for pointing it out since I'm sure you're well and done with this video, but I feel it is important to note that Red Mashiro's EX triggers 75% of the time at EX level 5. Perhaps you could put an annotated comment under the EX description for clarity. All and all a very good presentation. You're doing the community a great service. Looking forward to part 2!
OH MY GOD you are absolutely right!! That was hidden right in front of me, I will see if I can add a link at Mashiro's section to the Blue Archive wiki to point that out! If I have any other comments, I'll make my own and pin that here as well. I am SO glad that I'm not alone in trying to make Swimsuit Hifumi and Juri playable... it's honestly so tragic that their kits suffered so terribly, especially with how endearing they are as characters! I would love for them to be fixed at some point, but I respect the devs for sticking to their guns and simply trying to iterate on future characters, since hot fixes can sometimes cause more issues than otherwise.

There's no shame in that whatsoever!! That's exactly why I made so many timestamps, so folks could skip around to characters they're interested in to see what the pros and cons of them are! Suzumi also gained a great unique item that boosts her stun capabilities, which is fantastic if you get her to friendship level 20!

Sasuga Tsuchinoko sensei, amazing as always For Aru Pve, one thing I love to do, as the girls are moving forward and Arus EX is available I target the first Mob immediately, its a gamble , but depending on the number of mobs moving forward, it can wipe most of them with her explosion
I absolutely adore Aru for that reason, it is so nice when she can take down so many opponents at once!! It took a little practice to get the placement of her EX just right, but man when it does go off, it is so satisfying to watch that explosion happen

Man, if only Juri's EX added Def Down on top of the Poison or if the range was as big as Fuuka's so apl the enemies get drawn in for a well placed Akari or Chise grenade...
I couldn't agree more!! I would have loved for Juri's EX to have a bigger AOE or something else on top of poison, since her ability matches her personality so well and it feels so sad when even the enemies won't run up to grab her cooking...

Fun fact for Junko and Izumi: Of at least the launch characters (and possibly still to this day) the math for their "damage based on HP" is the most complicated formulas in the game. Once they were figured out it turned out that Junko always benefits from her skill ever if her HP is full. Technically so does Izumi, but that would only matter if she could somehow stay on the field at 0 health.
I just started playing last week, with my free rolls I got Mine, Iori, Aru, Azusa, Hina, Izuna, I did use 2400 gems and also got Maki and Cherino (swimsuit) and today I used a single ticket and got Ui. I've been really enjoying the game, your explanations in this video is great and thankfully it seems I got some good units based off what you've said about them.

Every single time I see a 2+ hour video from Yumie I think "Oh awesome! Complete coverage on a topic." Then I see the Part 1 and remember how aggressively thorough this snek is.

As a recent new player who just got to level 29 in a week, this has been helpful to help me realize that I'm playing a gacha, so I must be saving my gems.
That is a fantastic perspective to have; there really are a lot of fun characters to pull for, but I've found it to be the most rewarding to save up your gems and pull for the characters you want the most, particularly for hyper-limited banners since you can get a lot of extra characters that way!
Reviewing 123 students is not easy, good job compiling all these information to part 1, looking forwards to part 2 and possibly a part 3 in the far future
Very impressive work, there is a lot of attention given to every student! My respect. I like a lot of the characters and some I am always sad that they end up a bit sidelined even if that is somewhat inevitable in a game with such a large cast. I do hope some of the less big characters can be important in little plotlines down the line. Airi and the Afterschool Sweets Club I think for example could use a bit of attention, as in some way they feel almost like a counterpart to the Make-Up-Work Club with a group of weirdoes with one relatively "ordinary" student, though clearly not as extreme as the M-U WC. Perhaps they could actually meet up with the Gourmet Club at some point for a crossover event between Gehenna and Trinity...? There is also Shimiko who could use a bit more focus... and Suzumi who even though she was one of the original tutorial characters has had very little focus throughout the main story and the like. I think there is theories that she originally was supposed to have Azusa's role since from what I understand she had the Arius symbol on her gun in the Beta... which I wonder if that will ever be used again...
I completely agree!! It would be wonderful for Suzumi, Shimiko, and the After School Sweets Club to get more of a role in the story, especially with how fantastic the sweets club event was a few months back!! There are so many fantastic characters in the game and I really hope they get their chance to shine, since it would be wonderful to see them interact as main cast members through the game!
Investing in students... Honestly, the biggest limiting factor is the material for skills. EXP reports can be farmed, to an extent blue-rays and tech notes can be farmed but the rest... Eligma and events. So many of my gehenna students are rotting simply due to the fact that I have a severe material shortage in some areas. 4:20 It is harder to upgrade the unique item. Relationship 25... I get a lot of students to 20 just passively but anything beyond that is walking through mud while wearing steel boots... Not to mention needing specific gifts. It was so worth it for aru though, removing that RNG from her normal skill. Mutsuki's mines are an amazing source of damage. As you said though, they drop too close. Due to that, when used in raids, I try to build my team around her, have someone like serina to move her up. Makes her well suited for primary or secondary damage in a team. I find it funny that normal Mutsuki's weakness is how close a skill lands, while NY. Mutsuki sometimes struggles to hit close enemies. I love her, absolute fav
This content is so good you need to make a million clips of it and I would love to see each character highlight remixed into playlists like 3* and characters whose ex gets reduced at massive investment and other cross sections like that!
