Reviewing One Of The Best Cop Films Ever! (END OF WATCH) 

Theres not a lot of movies that I know of that can make grown men cry, but this one does. I love this movie.

Point Break 1991. It's got under cover FBI, surfing, sky diving, etc... Everything you'd expect from a bario classic

I support the good cops. The ones who’s willing to go out of his way to help someone in need on or off duty and the ones who follow the rules but bend it if necessary. The story of the cop who saved Lil Wayne’s life when he shot himself at 12 years old will always stick out to me. I know there are bad cops in the world and I’ve come across both types of cops in life. Not every cop is a bad person and I wish more people could see that

The director who made this movie also made "Harsh Times" starring Christian Bale which is a very underrated movie.

Good call on the *"3 weapons used, 2 were AKs yet they found 9mm and .45 cases"* that went completely over my head the last time I watched this! As someone who likes guns, I always get a good laugh at how much movies/TV get wrong about them. I saw a movie where a guy racked the slide and it locked back (obviously empty) yet in the next shot, it's forward again and somehow loaded too. 😂 I can understand some mistakes like a supressor making a 9mm so quiet that it can be shot without anybody in the room even noticing it cuz it makes the movie more exciting and usually goes with the plot but there's other things where all I can do is facepalm! I think the most common thing I notice is either a 6 shot revolver being shot way more than 6 times without being reloaded or it being a semi auto but same thing, like 50 shots with zero mag change in between...

they did a great job portraying the LA vibe in this movie i remember i lived in west LA when this movie dropped by normandie and the 110 shit was wildin back in the day

I'm a firefighter and EMT and the truth about cops is that some of them are genuinely good people, few of those are heroes, some of them are power hungry bastards, a few of them are racist tyrants. Most of them aren't good or bad. They are clock punchers like you and me just trying to make it to retirement. They aren't racist, they don't hate your rights, they just don't care. If someone in a pants suit tells them to make more arrests in a certain socio economic demographic, they'll do it. If their partner gets a bee in their ass and starts violating civil rights, they don't want to make waves. But on the flipside, if they get a chance to do the right thing and it's obvious what to do, they'll do it. They aren't required to respond to any incidents according to the Supreme Court, but they do it anyway every day. To me, the whole ACAB movement is stupid bullshit, cops don't need to be defunded if anything they need more funding. But at the same time, they need to be held accountable for things they used to get away with. Ticket quotas are totally a thing but not officially.

Idk if this is necessarily a ticket “quota” per say but I had a cop explain to me that when traffic violations and accidents start occurring more rampantly (or jackasses drive like jackasses), the PD get all kinds of calls from people complaining that they’re not doing enough and that leads the cops to then have to start writing tickets more frequently. Mainly because the brass (higher ups) get these calls and are tired of getting them so they yell at their subordinates and then their subordinates’ subordinates until tickets start getting written more.

I've seen this movie well over a dozen times and it's just one that never gets old.

So, ticket quotas are illegal, but back in the early 2010's (the same time this movie was made), my precinct was pushing them. Most of us younger cops hated them and never met our quotas because we were looking for bigger fish to fry. They eventually got rid of the quotas, except now they call it "productivity goals". They never tell you how many traffic tickets to write, but if you aren't out there writing the same amount of tickets or making a similar amount of arrests as the other officers, the higher ups are going to think that you are slacking at your job and you will probably get canned. I know it might sound pretty bad to some civies, but this is one of the ways we make sure that officers are doing their jobs.

Personally I think the police should uphold the law, but not abuse their authority

Ticket quotas aren’t a real thing unless that is your assigned duty (traffic unit) it’s not even a quota it’s more like a performance review Issue if you’re not performing your only duty they fire you majority of cops have to clear their box (calls of the day) by priority and then also deal with felonies happening at random throughout the shift

I really like that Tre shows TRUE respect. He threw hands with Zavala, lost fair and square, and then showed real respect by giving them the heads up that they were being targeted when he saw them. It’s a nice detail, and shows a true understanding of the streets, and the relationship good, respectable cops can develop in their communities.

So, your question about the ticket thing. As a cop, let me share how it works. First of all, there is no "quota", that is not only highly illegal, but also in my opinion immoral. Every ticket you write places someone else in a financial stress. However, some people deserve tickets. Ticket quotas are an extreme fallacy. Likely what the Sergeant meant was regarding actually citing someone in general. Many times, police feel the need to warn instead of cite persons, as they know the financial stress, and maybe even know it won't prevent/fix anything. The only time a cop will cite tickets like a carny printer is when they are A: new out of the academy, or B: someone really frugal about their job, or trying to make promotion. Now, there are things which occur each summer, it's called "Click it or Ticket". The government will provide a grant to the department with a predetermined sum, but coverage must have for example 8 stops an hour, or 2 tickets an hour. I should also lastly include this, COPS DO NOT GET ANY OF THE MONEY FROM THE TICKETS. Any money from the tickets goes toward the municipal, county, or state fund. Such fun is used for roads, services, and other things which are needed. I hope this helped with a little perspective. @The Old Barrio Thanks for reading!

I have seen End of Watch. Its okay movie. In my Opinion, In this order so far, from best to least: 1. Training Day 2. Dirty 3. Colors 4. End of Watch Also, if they make The Division movie, this would make a good back story before becoming a SHD Agent.

ticket quotas exist in some departments/offices primarily to make sure LEOs are enforcing the law. However, quotas are illegal in 20 states and many individual police departments don't employ quotas.

I work w a PD. I think the scene where the boot didn’t know where she was and Taylor kept yelling “where” as they waited was one of the most realistic/spot on scenes in the movie. Great movie tho I give it a 10-10 tbh
