Over 20 years ago, the top speed world record for naturally aspirated engines was set by a British road car and it has not been broken since. That legendary car, is the McLaren F1, the pinnacle of the 90s, and I finally review it here on my channel: a maisto model that is nearly as old as the car itself!
Bought without box for less than 10 dollars as part of a lot of 3 (together with the F40 and the Countach) and initially quite dirty, I cleaned it, added more details and finally want to show it to you in its restored glory in this review.
Pros:
- full frame windows with glass
- front wheels swivel, steering wheel responds to it
- perforated grilles
Cons:
- poor engine detail
- missing separator glass between engine bay and cockpit
- missing dual rear view mirrors iconic for the McLaren F1
- unpainted tail lights
- only 2 tail lights instead of 4
- no brake discs or calipers
