I have been using the Bryton 420 with a bundle for the last 2 months, and I am extremely glad. I like how fast the unit turns on and get ready, great battery life, very clear display and the app makes life so simple. I am a recreational rider. For what it is priced, and tons of features it is a very good deal.

I use a Rider 330 on my MTBs and a 530 for commuting and touring. They were US $120 and $150 at time of purchase respectively. They satisfy all my needs. In the course of multi-day travel, I follow the breadcrumbs while riding and fine-tune my orientation with Google maps on my pit-stops. Battery life is amazing, perhaps the strongest point of these devices.

I've just bought mine, after using the rider15 on my track bike. NZ$200 a steal, also using Magene speed and cadence sensors that come in at NZ$20 each and with a flick of battery can be set for either cadence or speed. The HR belt, only NZ$28 and is awesome. Great review and now I have some data screen tweaks to make 😀

Really good review, I do more off road riding and searching for a gps device but not sure on this one now as there’s a lot of unknown paths to me I’d like to go on and would like something more of a map than a route, I like to explore more! Rather than just get there!

Fantastic I will get this tomorrow as I’m just a mountain biker and need a basic computer. I go to Belair and crafers a lot and want speedometer and something to record for Strava. This allows me to record backpacking. Update 12 March 2024: I now use a carbon road bike with a power meter, and still going strong. I don't even think I need a Wahoo. Might be nice for live segments and routes etc. but right now, I don't really care about those. If I rode 5000km this year I'd maybe update.

Hi! I use the 410 for commuting. It has all the stuff I need and as I don't need maps, that's fine. The battery life is great! The only real gripe I have is when I transfer my data to Strava, things change. It seems the way Strava interprets the start stop times is different and so your ave speed and estimated power end up being different. Did you notice anything similar with the 420? Not a deal breaker in the end as I know how well I've ridden but it would be nice if the stats matched!

i have the bryton rider 410 over 1 year now and i'm really happy with it. very reliable and long lasting battery. and the price here in europe is rediculus, only about 80€...

Lot's of complaints about the latest smartphone app, which I too experienced but fixed. Here's what you should do. 1)update the firmware (and GPS data) using the Windows or Mac application from Bryton, connecting to a computer with the supplied USB cable. 2) Do a fresh install of the latest smartphone application. 3) avoid using the Bryton route creation software (phone or web) and use Komoot (free) instead to create route or import a .gpx which will then automatically synch with Bryton active smartphone app. Then, within the smartphone app, you must then encode turn-by-turn directions, and finally send this NEW file (ending in "-1") to the device using the app (something not well explained in directions). Strava can also be automatically synched to send your ride to your feed as soon as you turn on the smartphone app or end the ride. You should have a recent smartphone with a recent version of Android (12 gives you ability to over ride app and turn off location services). Currently does not work with Ride with GPS, on 420 and 750 models so ignore this in app. If you still encounter problems, reset the head unit (using the menus) and un-install and re-install the app, with no files to synch in komoot or strava. The buttons for ON and pause on the bottom are very practical, as it saves space and protects the unit from spills. They are easy to operate, even when on the holder. You can ride without a smartphone on and it will record everything normally. Routing should also work, provided it is setup and following a track. Altitude calculation is accurate, when compared to a good topo map! GPS satellites are improving, so be sure to update "GPS DATA" using the desktop application and cable. For detailed maps, the best option in my opinion is to use a smartphone and view a .kml (converted from .gpx on GPS visualizer) using Mapsme.

I bought a rider 100 a couple of years ago, it does what I need, but takes ages to find satellite.

It's a great device but unfortunately, I had an annoying issue. I was riding 300km. and after a little pause on 150th km., the device doesn't want to start. It was freezing and an I had to reboot the device and to lost some mileage. I used it for more than 15K km. and this was the first big issue. But I think to migrate to Wahoo or Garmin. When this happened I used "Follow track" functionality.

Can someone please help me, I changed my phone, it's paired to my Burton via the App, but after finishing my ride, I choose save, and the ride doesn't sync to my phone App nor doesn't upload to Strava

How about mobile data usage of this bike GPS? I’m kind of surprised to use 4-5Gb data for a 100km ride.

Does the Bryton provide speed and distance information using gps or do you need sensors?

Can you show me the altitude if it is convenient to use the air?

Can you show us how to download a route in ( say eg you like look someone's ride on Strava or your doing an event and they put the route on for you to download I'm clueless

4:00 there is a option in the menu "Data Page" set it to "Auto" and the data fields of not available sensor won't be shown

So far i'm satisfied with this device except for 1 issue. That is the TIME is not set to the exact moment. I need to set a -10m Alt on ground level to get the correct exact moment of Time on my device.

Bryton 420 vs Garmin edge 130?

I can only imagine all the different things that slow cooker in the back is for.

I have had the 420 for a few months and very happy with it except as it gets more full the processing gets slower and slower to the point it's unusable and need to do a factory reset then it's back to good again. It had 80% at the time and is meant to delete files when full, my guess is the RAM gets full and slows the whole thing down. Anyway, if someone has a solution without factory reset let me know, thanks

So yeah basic navigation use is actually shite to use so far. Planned a 50 mile route. i'm still waiting for it to process. The route was on my gps Bryton 420, i hit START to see if it would show the map etc and its been processing now for 20 minutes (i've watched three reviews now and nobody is talking about this "feature"...) Not a great product for actual use if you have to wait 20 minute splus to get it to show you a 50 mile route.

Maybe a useful addition for people not receiving all smart notifications on their device, as I didn't get any Whatsapp notifications on my 420. For Android go to Settings > Apps > (Press menu button) then choose Special Access. Then click Notification access. At last select the Active app from Bryton. Done.

what if you don't have a smart phone or one that has no memory left for the Bryton app ? do I have to buy a new phone just to use the GPS ?

I bought a bryton 410 damn i have a head ache,,, the unit has screenfreeze twice.. the first time screen freeze i can manage to restart but the second time,, i froze permanently and didnt power on till now,, i do used it only *6 TIMES* what a waste of money,,

surely if he is rich enough to have that many expensive bikes then why doesn't he get a gps for each bike ? the problem of not enough bikes on the gps is not that bad surely ?
