Its actually pretty easy why the kids on Shoshimin want to be ordinary. Based on conversations with Kengo, and how they want to change schools where nobody knows them, Kobato seems to have often been asked in the past to solve mysteries and solve confounding problems, I'm guessing he felt taken advantage of or didn't want the attention/pressure from people. Him trying to be "ordinary" is him trying not to stand out and make waves, and him and the girl basically are a fake couple so they can tell people politely "no" when they are asked for favors (But he's so bad at saying No he ends up helping in episode 1 anyway.) Don't know if you've watched Hyouka, but this show's source material was written by the same author, he likes to make Slice of Life Mystery shows as character studies, and if you go watch Hyouka you'll get a similar vibe and themes despite the different studios doing the adaptations for each. There's a lot of subtext in the first episode I think you just plain missed.

Wistoria I thought was honestly pretty mid and generic on the first episode it just had cool looking animation. I feel you seem to have a bias towards stories that front load you with exposition and have a straight forward premise, which kinda makes me sad.

Top picks of this season for me for sure gotta be: No Longer Allowed in Another World, Wistoria: Wand and Sword and Failure Frame. Just wish the CGI on Failure Frame was so dookie,, usually I am fine with it but the use of it on the MC in the second episode was not it.
Yo I agree!! I started "no longer allowed in another world" and so far it's really funny! And yeah I never make any comments on bad animation/CGI but ep 2 of failure frame was rough lol, the episode was still pretty good and I liked the ending. It's definitely going to be a solid summer season of anime!
Failure Frame is literally the most garbage revenge pic fan fiction trash show I've ever seen, and this is coming from someone that tends to like trashy Isekai.
I might have bad taste, but i quite enjoy it, it might be because I'm a fan of arifureta, and I'm also a fan of trash isekai in general, but honestly it's quite a good revenge anime for me, not the best but not the worst.
@W51G lol theres no such thing as bad taste in anime, it's all personal preference. I completely agree though. It's not the best and it's not the worst so we just give it 3 episodes and see how it does. I'm hoping it does better tho! What did you think of ep 2?
@TheCasualWeeb I agree with that statement. It is It is not the best series out there, but it can still be enjoyed if you turn off your brain. Would not have been able to read the manga otherwise.
