That's odd about the delete all messages button being removed. Anxious to dig in later today and see how franchise plays out. The great thing about OOTP is that if you don't like how the game feels, you can tweak settings until you're hearts content.
@@sgtmushroom You guys can just select all messages with one click and than delete all. They added just one click, so probably nobody will delete his messages by mistake. Just hit the little circle next to the header that says subject and all your messages are selected and than it say "delete tagged messages" on the top right.
Disappointing, but not at all surprising. I wouldn't be surprised if I just continue using OOTP 22 for historical games, given that the third time through the order change is going to make historical play look decidedly ahistorical.
Is catcher now like LF? Essentially focusing on offense and looking for the bare minimum of acceptable outfield range. On 20-80 scale I like guys around 50-60, anybody higher than that is probably better at another position or is over valued by the ai and good trade bait. Essentially what I’m asking is do you think there is any advantage to having good catcher defense in 23 or are those guys just automatic trade bait.
Well, they're definitely not trade bait since the AI doesn't value them. And frankly, I still don't think pure offensive catchers are the way to go. Last year, I generally targeted guys with 70+ ability and league average or slightly below hitting. This year, I'm probably looking 55 and up with good hitting. Keibert Ruiz may now be my top live catcher.
The animations still have all the same predictable ball paths after they're hit.. It would be WAY more exciting if you couldn't tell if they were going to catch it or not.. or to not know if there's going to be an error. (Certain animations you can tell) I'm wondering why they haven't changed it after all these years.. Disappointing to see..
Great summary of everything! Since you’re talking about possibly re-rating players, let me know if you’d like any help with research and/or share ratings adjustments I’ve made for that! I’ve done that a ton the past few years and I know some of my public feedback has directly influenced the devs to adjust ratings (last year, based on my research, they added a change up to Kevin Gausman, made Jake McGee and Matt Wisler’s pitch ratings reflect their 1-pitch tendencies, as well as a few other things that I’m blanking on …). But as it stands there’s quite a few questionable skill ratings and the personality ratings in general I’d like to see some intentional adjustments to.
ratings have always been my biggest issue as someone who's a baseball obsessive. I wish they would just use projection systems of some kind to make the ratings more sensible.
They do use a projection system. It's based off ZiPS, with, to my knowledge, slight modifications from the developers. I don't like ZiPS very much actually.
@@sgtmushroom I know that's what OOTP claims, and I'm sure ZIPS does a play a role in the ratings... but they are just atrocious. I think the ratings are definitely more randomized or done with way too much subjectivity. Every year after downloading the game for the first time I have to manually go through and make tweaks to players so the sim plays more realistically and it's incredibly tedious. I'm not the biggest fan of ZIPS either, I know THE BAT & ATC projections typically rate better but I would take anything over how they do the ratings now.
my tigers won the pennant in 2023 with a payroll around 70 million. started season 10-20. won central 92-70. i consider this a big accomplishment without cheating (CHALLENGE MODE) i manage games 80% of the season and most of postseason. we played philly in the world series. i let my AI manager (HINCH) take over games 4 5 6 and 7. supposed to be a good manager but decides to use my struggling reliever in game 6 and 7 and pitches like a scrub. we end up losing. GREAT AI. during the off season, i expected a big jump in fan interest and loyalty. NOPE! owner gives me a crappy 10 million budget increase. around 11% decrease with season tickets. wanted a catcher upgrade when I already had Hedges. not buying another game until they fix these flaws.
I understand what you mean playing Andrelton at 3rd because defense is important to success, but isnt that game breaking to you? I mean Rendon has been elite at 3rd in real life before defensively. His defense should be sufficient at the position.
