I a 25 years old and have lived all over the U.S. at this point, but one thing that has always been consistent since i was a 15 year old teenager is my LOVE for boots. Something that has always fascinated me, thank you for feeding my curiosity - my oxblood doubleshot pair is due in this week!
Andrew has a nice writeup somewhere on the website about trying to use as much of the hide as possible to reduce waste and embrace the minor, varied imperfections of something that came from a once living animal. Among the three of my four pairs where this would be noticeable (one is waxed suede), these "lesser" cuts seem to be relegated to the tongues or inner quarters. My pair of Richmonds in natural Dublin have a few dark scars in the leather but these were smartly cut into the backstays which is perfect since the backstay takes the most abuse on my boots (and probably true for most other people I'm sure). The outer quarter panels tend to have some nice character to the grain as well, though my pairs so far are in natural finish leathers like Dublin, Double Shot and their veg re-tan.
I’m liking the Doubleshot leather from Seidel on my Truman boots. Truman uses a minimum of 6oz leather in there boots which puts it up there with Nick’s and Whites. Haven’t seen it in a dress model yet. Great vid.🤘👞👍
This boot has been one of my main smart casual boots over the last year. The leather is really starting to respond well to brushing. My only beef is with the cap-toe due to the way my feet flex, and just the nature of a cap-toe, I would have preferred a plain-toe Allen model. Just always get weird creasing with cap toes comparing the left to right boot, and also don’t like seeing where the vamp ends under the edge of the cap toe since this is a fake cap toe.
Glad to see Parkhurst is back, I got pair of Elmwood boots in mahogany. I think that wrinkled quarter is fat folds from neck/shoulder area, not loose leather from belly.
It’s not bad, but one issue that I’m getting is a lot of noise, maybe preamp noise - a soft hiss noise behind the audio. Could be due to pumping up Audio in post or bad pre-amps 🤷♂️
TBH I prefer the nattie veg retan. Not because of any big difference in the leather but I just happen to like that orangey colour. I missed out on the natural Dublin which would have rivalled the veg retan.
@@Bootlosophy I just received my Richmonds in natural Dublin today. I put them next to my Niagras in veg re-tan that I've been wearing for the last two months and the Dublin is slightly lighter at this point. I'm curious to see how the color will continue to change on both as I wear them. Really liking the Dublin so far. All that wax in the leather responds really well to a simple, quick brushing.
@@The_Other_Matt I have a pair of Oak Street in nattie Dub bought about the same time as the Richmond veg retan. It’s darkened a bit but gone browner than the veg retan that’s remained orange-ey.
I went to their website because you said this was a combo last which I prefer. I like a narrower heel then a roomy toe box. But I don’t see 602 I see 602M?
