Came here to say this. Interesting idea, people used to be so creative with the lack of technology.

People felt bad for the bird dying so they made updated cages with a closable hatch and a little oxygen tank so the bird could surivive it, there are pictures of them and they are amazing.

Also, it wasn't just the bird dying. Often it was enough that the bird would start freaking out because it could sense the bad air long before the humans could. Often they would still wait till the bird died, but it didn't HAVE to. :P

@@furgel7717 I've heard of that, I'm not clear how effective that was though... I'm not sure that the time from gases affecting the canary to the canary dying was necessarily long enough for this to work most of the time. There's also.. not many good sources of information about it. It's a nice thought though. Edit: apparently canaries were tested early on as being most able to be revived, but it doesn't seem like there's data on how often this actually happened.

With the Affliction empowered mods, yeah, and on top of that, they're absolutely ridiculously tanky, so you take 5 minutes to kill one mob, and there's a very high chance of bad RNG happening in the meantime.

In the style of that star trek episode, "The rhoa from offscreen. Observers laugh but the subject cries."

The death was most likely because the mob had "Overwhelms physical damage reduction" mod on it. The spinning shield on the mob appears not only for "Physical resist" but also for "Overwhelm" mobs so I'm quite sure the mob simply nullified most of the physical damage reduction

That's why I really enjoy HC in this game. I used to be the exact same way, but every time you die or have a close call in HC you end up learning one more thing to be weary of. But it's mostly just because the RISK of death makes you play in a different state of mind than just pure turbo blasting.

@@KingJerbear i started in HC and got to about 700 hours( on steam) before switching to softcore and finishing a map for the first time xD so yeah for its not good to play HC, but believe me i love it and want to go back t some point, just not there yet

At 2k hrs i never had a character with less than 300+ deaths, even on 200 divine builds I tried HC, beat maven deathless. Its just different play style. You dont run 2 proj extr damage crit maps on HC or even let alone 2 damage mods

skill issue

I've also had major lag issues the past couple weeks, just huge ping spikes out of nowhere to the point I had to quit the game multiple times and take a break. But I will say, a couple years ago during COVID, when I had a ton of free time to play, I lost like 6 characters in one League to random lag issues (similar to what I'm having now). I contacted my ISP, Got a new router, I tried just about everything possible to fix my connection, when I finally discovered it was my Ethernet cable. It ran perfectly 99.9% of the time, but would have intermittent fails that was enough to cut the connection for a millisecond. I replaced the cable and didn't have another RIP for the rest of that league. Just something to consider, even my cable that "tested good" was causing major issues.

@@KingJerbear I was in the computer networking field before, so I have some knowledge about ping and responding time. I checked my connect from pc to router about 1-2ms no drop on 1000 pings, and to poe server in my location about 20-25ms with no drop on 200-300 pings. Even last league I joined 5 ways service at 200ms ping but no LAG at all about 30-40 rounds. But now just a single yellow map and LAG at some point of the map.

Most likely not happening sorry!

This league is definitely keeping everyone on their toes. I saw people in global chat saying "oh just stack armor, be over leveled, and you'll be fine." I don't think I have the video but I was level 42 in the affliction, act 4 kaoms stronghold, so maybe 8 levels higher, I was playing a very safe high defense high life regen build and I still ended up getting 1 shot. I will definitely need to look at the footage if Nvidia did capture it.

@@fuzzyturtlez8994there’s definitely a big need for chaos res early. The toxic rain archers for example. Highly suggest purity of elements for ailment immune too… Also juicing zones with Act bosses is definitely a mistake a lot of people made lol

Well for experienced streamers and players, you're back to maps within 4 hrs or so. Back to 90+ the same day. So it's a loss, but not crazy. I wouldn't play HC if I didn't have plenty of time to play though. At a certain level of experience, the game is not challenging on softcore. There's a level of excitement knowing you could lose your char if you mess up.
