I like that the Adywan edit made the lightsaber extend and retract properly when Luke switches the lightsaber on and off. Those jump-cuts with the blade instantly appearing and disappearing always annoyed me.
In the original cut it’s fine cause of the budget but man the fact that Lucas completely ignored it all the times he made changes to this movie is just unacceptable
Killeric Longstar if you'll watch the original 1977 35mm (look for team negative blu ray) you see the saber was originally blue. Only the specials made the saber white and i think it happened because lucasfilm used an autocorrection software.
Yep the same reason is why Vader lightsaber look sometimes pink or purple especially in empire strikes back thank to force we have Harmy and his Despecialized Edition :)
I'm so impressed that Adywan was able to both bypass the jump cut and have the lightsaber retract instead of disappear. Even simply, small improvements like that to any film, especially old, will keep viewers engaged and not distracted.
I think what you said might be true. And giving the CGI Dinosaurs more additions. :/ And so many special edition changes also have mistakes like the new scenes of Most Eisley Spaceport when they’re 4 stormtroopers that are doing exact same movements but mirror effects. :/
I give Adywan props for correcting errors and animating the Sabers going out but after seeing Rebels I no longer seek the Prequels beams, too thick in my humble opinion.
Agreed. They look too thick in Ady's version but he is intending on returning to correct a lot of effects from his version. He has been working for years on them (mostly Empire Revisited which is nearly complete) and gaining more experience in effects & what looks better. Plus this was upscaled from a dvd quality so when he completes ANHR in the future it will be blu ray quality. I can't wait to see the results!
Yes, cause what I have discovered is that the original 1977, 2004 DVD and 2011 Special edition Blu-ray for me the Lightsaber effects look entirely the same effects. Also the 2011 the Lightsaber effects reconverting it back to white again and when special effects editors were adding Lightsaber blade and removing it, it's creating jump-cuts when Luke is activating and deactivating the Lightsaber. Until the Adywan Revisited Edition the Lightsaber effects has been fixed and it looks so extended, and now all shots with Luke with the Lightsaber blade are blue and they're more vibrant than ever like prequel trilogy Lightsaber effects! And Adywan Revisited was using some kind of special software to improve and eliminate all the jump-cuts that totally ruined the film!
How did he un-do the jump cuts and make it so seamless? It looks so natural now. The way Luke's hands move down after igniting the saber, kind of like a recoil effect when shooting a gun, looks so natural.
1977 version, Lucasfilm didn't color the lightsaber properly or there was a contrast problem which turned the lightsaber white on the Millenium Falcon. It was blue in other shots. It is a known issue.
The real problem that needs to be fixed is the sound quality in some scenes. While 1:41 sounds fine, 1:45 needs some work. If they can upscale the resolution, then I'm sure they could upscale the sound quality. Some scenes also have weird sounds in the background whenever a character talks. I'm sure they could fix that
It’s not really possible unless one were to go to Lucasfilm’s vaults and re-master the original audio tapes. This lesser sound quality is often the result of noise reduction in the mastering process, trying to eliminate background hum, hiss or other audio distractions. The way it is right now, no amount of digital work could accomplish anything to make the sound clearer.
Lightsaber effects in that scene in Adywan version is a a good change, and if i where George Lucas, i would've gone with this minor change than a lot of unnecessary CGI bullshit
The theatrical versions were never released in HD Quality. Harmy's Despecialized Editions are a recreation, and the closest version of the original 1977 movie in HD Quality so far.
Daniel Cruz the thin ones are ugly. And thick blades are in the majority of Star Wars media already (Prequels, Clone Wars TV series, Rogue One, The Force Awakens)
