revisiting round walls in the sims (and regretting it) 

Is it bad I genuinely like this house. I think the outside wall color choices look nice, and the styling of the inside furniture looks good as usual

round walls were so anticipated and then people realized how USELESS they are

Simsie heard us! Her last couple of builds didn’t have pack limitations and she used whichever ones she wanted. I am so happy to see some different builds than just simple base game houses from Kayla

If curved stairs were a thing in this game, it would open up sooooo many build options and people would get even more ridiculously creative. EA, get on this for Sims 5 at least!

I really love the round walls for very specific things. It’s fun for gazebos. They make nice “half turrets” with round roofs. You can do fun things with sun rooms, with like a half circle. But full circles are very frustrating. Half circles are great and it’s such a small part of the build that it’s not as frustrating.

The trick with moving objects in/on round rooms, is that the camera has to be “inside” the round room, so you can’t really go top down, you have to be up close so that the camera is within the round room and looking kinda sideways instead of top down.

All in favor of a hot pink zebra house 🙋‍♀️

Round rooms are one of the biggest scams the sims has done.

EA was really like, "Oh, you want curved walls? Here are some curved walls, but by the way, we're not going to make them compatible with anything else in the game. Enjoy!" They weren't integrated well at all, which is really sad because there's so much potential for cool builds.

I remember that the first day after this update came I tried to build an Art Deco house using the round walls feature and I became so incredibly frustrated that I ended up leaving the building half done lmao

This house had potential! I wish you'd put it on the gallery, I want to re-do it. If you wanna run with the black and white piano theme, you could extend some walls and make it a music note house! And the exterior could use a darker warm toned wood to look less... weird.

We NEED curvy stairs in the Sims. Stairs that you can make curve any way you want. Want am «S» shaped stair ? You should be able to have it. Want stairs that follow a curved wall ? It should be easy AND base game stuff. Partly along a curved wall and a straight wall should be a non issue. Also, stairs should be able to turn by 45° increments. There ARE real life examples of toilets with large windows at the front of houses. Front door just next to the floor to ceiling window to the bathroom. Toilets with fully glass doors are also a things.

I just downloaded the sims recently and I have been avoiding round walls at all costs

My mom was an architect, and she told me that round rooms are the worst to work with, because it’s really hard to place furniture in it and make it look good. The sims 4 is the ultimate proof. And damn, roofing it is literally impossible (I’m so sorry for my bad English tho)

I think the round walls would be good if they'd made roofs to go with them along with stairs and ladders that would work. They literally made them and didn't bother to make stairs, ladders or roofs to go with them. Also, they needed to make more windows to go with these round walls and curtains.

7:20 It looks like the Origin symbol! Also, not all modern houses have to be ENTIRELY black and white. You could have kept the blue bar stools and used blue an an accent colour :)

i feel like the spencer kim lewis house needs curved walls but i don't want anyone to have to struggle that much

I found that round walls work best on large builds, like castles and mansions, cause you have more room to work with. I built a mcmansion specifically to use rounded walls as a feature and it turned out pretty good, since they wouldn't interfere with the staircase.

Just a tip for the round room "object stuck" dilemma that I've figured out from trial and error. It's based on which direction your camera is. If you're "outside" the curved wall looking in it's easier to grab the item than being "inside" the curve looking out. Still annoying but much more manageable once you get it. Edit: I may be getting it backwards but the point still stands. If you can't grab an item change the angle/position of the camera

This video was chaotically funny 😆, even though she hated every second of it, I loved the house and I would definitely download it if it's in the gallery, and I honestly hope someone from EA sees this video and does something to fix the round walls.

about the stove top and oven (at 12:23) you actually can do them in the same cabinet! you just need to put the metal/steel (?) stove top before the oven so the visual glitch doesn't happen, other than that you can put any combination of them and it works just fine

Simsie; to delete a trim you go back on trim tool and hit CTRL while hovering over the place you want to delete and it deletes 😃 -just a friendly tip that I recently figured out 😊

Trust yourself Kayla! It actually looked pretty good especially since you don’t really build modern houses. The only think I would do differently is try to wrap the stairs where you put the bathroom. ❤

I think it's really funny how she's having the worst time and I'm really enjoying how everything is turning out lol I honestly just think that this type of houses are not very much her preference but very much mine. And even with the glitches Kayla is always doing a very good job.

For a lighthouse, place a small box room at the center, and surround it with curved walls. It makes sense realistically to do this too bc the box room would then look like a support structure too. My biggest problem with curved walls honestly is that they don’t line up well with the curved platforms and foundations. :(

If you want to pick up / place items easier, you can't have your walls up. You have to have them at least partially down.

round walls and terrain tools. some people can get them to work, especially terrain tools, its been a while now, but i was so excited for both and i never use either. of course i make ponds sometimes, i am a fan of lilsimsie

I did one build with round walls, like a gothic-style build for my spellcaster. It was AWFUL. Not just fitting stuff in the rooms, no, no, that was the easy part. THE FLOORS. T H E F L O O R S WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS DISAPPEARING ???? "uhh actually you have like 5 different rooms inside of this curved wall". AGH never again never again. I'll just use the octagonal room.

It’s pretty funny because I really like this build.

I feel you on how irritating this was to build, but the end result was great. I tried to recreate an early Kate Emerald build where she used her usual rotated windows and debug blocks placed with TOOL to mock up curved walls with the real ones and...OMG was it bad. You didn't really show it, but you can end up with some weird jagged ceiling holes when you try to add things like angled stairs. It warps the ground next to platforms. It makes strange shadows. It's just...bad.

The downstairs bathroom shenanigans are some of the best RU-vid content I've ever seen! 🤣🤣🤣

You should try and make a window seat using a round wall.

I tried round walls inside a house, because they would make an interior look more unique and logical as I tried to create a ball room. But the walls started ruining my floor and one of the walls which make an corner were impossible to delete. So I gave up.

I felt exactly the same about these round walls lilsimsie. So frustrating and no real workable objects to go with. I tried them out on a recent build and found exactly the same issue that getting correct sizing on platform to wall is so difficult and the sides glitches really easily along the floor, very frustrating. It looks OK just not the way we imagine. Great video.

I actually really like the exterior. Inside, I think instead of the piano I would have put the island there like an L shape so the stools are near the window and the counter space can still be used for an appliance. I think that would open it up more. Maybe a round dining table like the one from tiny living give the illusion of space

They're definitely a different idea, & the patio curved side is a new idea I really like. The only curved house I've been really happy with is a tiny home, single person, off grid "surf shack"

I've posted similar comments in different places but tip for round rooms: While in build mode look at everything from a "first person" angle. For example look at it like you would be in the room. It is a thousand times easier to pick up/place/move items! good luck & have fun :)

A way to more easily place and move objects in round rooms is buildings with walls down. I don't know why but it works in my game...

i was JUST trying to build with round rooms the other day - and i quit three separate times. ngl watching simsie also get so frustrated and have the same issues is very validating 😩

The first thing I did with round walls was renovate Parkshore into an art deco dream/nightmare. It took a week to make it functional and I was so frustrated. So then I had the bright idea to rebuild the Orchid a go go because reasons, and I worked on that for 3 days and it literally broke the lot. I was so mad I deleted my game and uninstalled Get Famous. 😂

I made this desert bathhouse with help from the desert lux kit, and my idea was to have these rounded side rooms at the front that lead to the bathrooms. The stairs had to be crammed in awkwardly, not to mention that the floor texture melted into the foundation making a gold looking rim on the outside but just looked soo baad! The rounded rooms ad for aesthetic but just don't work well when matched with creativity.

We need round stairs to really use round walls to their full potential

Curved walls are great for certain builds but they're not practical for every day use. You don't see many buildings/homes in real life with curved walls for a reason. I don't know what y'all were expecting lol
