Lazy, your spellcheck settings are misconfigured. Set them to "English (UK)" instead of "English (US)", because the subtitles are littered with typos that an educated Brit wouldn't normally make.
It helps to solve it at least haha..there's a bunch of times a suspect was caught because they or neighbors saw the episode of unsolved mysteries and recognized them, id imagine it's the same for RU-vid videos. Granted, having your case associated with that scam game is definitely bleak
"His remains, tainted by toxicity, rest in a drum." really hit hard. I dont know why, but the concept of your corpse being too dangerous to even be buried is just...depressing and terrifying
Do you know he 100% absolutely hated having ANYTHING to do with the show "Unsolved Mysteries"? He thought it was tacky & idiotic etc. He didn't believe in it whatsoever & was floored when it became a hit. He HATED how he was portrayed on the show & NEVER watched it himself. He did the show for the money & wanted nothing to do with the show & wanted to move on as quickly as possible which never really happened for him so he kept doing the show he wanted NOTHING to do with.
Probably because he got into it as a long-term consequence of campaigns to bring justice to his own sons' murder, which was a cold case edit: Nvm that was John Walsh
Robert Stack was hands down the best host of a true crime show. Along with John Walsh of course. Robert's voice just fit so well for the show and was very recognizable. May he rest in peace.
Kathy's story is so heartbreaking. Poor sweet girl. Imagine spending your whole life being afraid of dying young, and then finally feeling safe and like the danger was over, only to end up assaulted and murdered in the most terrifying way.
@@user-xl7eo7mp1bthat's what I was thinking. how did she not notice her daughter hadn't come home? why didn't she check up on her or ask her beforehand if she was going alone or not??
Wow, Casteel’s wife barging into his mistresses house and starting an argument right at the time the sting operation was happening actually indirectly sealed his fate.
@@kellyalves756 The police would've known if she was in on it and that almost certainly would've been mentioned in the story. They likely didn't charge her because they believed she was only involved in covering up the crime and disposing the ATVs. Those charges can have a statue of limitations and they probably didn't feel like they had enough evidence to convict her or that she was likely to commit a violent crime on her own.
You guys enjoyed this so much last time that I thought I'd turn it into a mini-series! If there are any other segments from Unsolved Mysteries you'd like me to revisit in a future episode, reply to this comment
@@ledarbyromeo9667That's how you'll find yourself in hot water. Just tonite I had to tell a CLUELESS female that went to Jamaica & bragged about how "leaving the resort is the only way to experience the real country you're visiting". I told her that's how you end up tortured & worse. She didn't believe me & said she was "careful enough". Ok. Keep taking those meds & your common sense goes out the window. You'll find yourself caught in the web of a maniac.
I grew up in the Signal Mountain area around when the story was happening. There were always rumors that Casteel was involved in some other illegal activity (IE manufacturing of narcotics). And that was the reason he never wanted anyone around what he considered his property. It was thought in some circles that he murdered these people because of what they may have witnessed taking place, instead of him just being over bearing of his "property."
I’ve read about and watched some pretty f-ed up things in my 42 years but they met one of the most horrific ends imaginable. He had relive that moment every waking second after.
She had a premonition that she dies when 16 years old. Why would she say that she "made it" on her freaking birthday? It would have only been over when she reaches 17 years. Lesson to be learned: Learn math.
Damn straight, love this guy's drive to find new stuff for us. A content creator that actually gives a shit about his audience, countless others on this platform should give that a shot.
I agree. Hearing the same mysteries that we know will never be solved gets annoying after awhile. The Sodder children, Villesca Axe, etc are two hundred years old. Everyone associated is dead. Just let it go.
@zoeyrochellezhombie829 I get what you're saying, but telling people to let it go, when it's still a heartbreaking mystery, is pretty rude. Even decades later, mysteries can still be solved.
Bocks story has always unnerved me. I’ve been hoping over the years for some form of an update. It’s truly a gut churning idea to be silenced for attempting to do the right thing. And the idea he was alive when he was dumped into the furnace. It gives me chills.
A lot of these should be revisited for the Netflix remake and given the proper time and attention. Never know when someone might come forward with more info.
Netflix is not good company to keep when it comes to documentaries. I watch daily wire's convicting a murder. Which points out how Netflix left out key details of making a murder to make the man at center of it seems like a victim of state corruption. They removed key details like his past crimes, his abuse of women before being accused of killing one, also how they removed key words and sentences from people in their documentary. Whole sentences that would make someone else words not be their words. Making a murder is a massive scam of documentary that fooled millions. His DNA being on the victim. The victim telling others she feared him, and how her body was found on his property, also how the states case was much stronger than Netflix let viewers to believe. If lazy covers he will see what I see in making a murders lies.
Unsolved mysteries was my favorite show as a child. The Dave Bocks case always haunted me. I hope that he was already gone before he was placed in the furnace. That would be a horrific way to go.
Fun fact: Robert Stack HATED the show. He thought it was incredibly stupid & couldn't believe that anybody thought the alien & paranormal episodes were even slightly believable. He HATED how he was portrayed & they had to beg him to stay as the host. He reluctantly stayed g it became a huge hit. He still hated EVERYTHING to do with the show the entire time. He did it strictly for the money & wanted to move on but it became something he was known for.
@@ClickClack_Bam: Robert Reed was the same way with "The Brady Bunch". He hated it so much that he was written out of the very last episode of the show.
@@ClickClack_Bam - I've always heard the opposite, that he loved the show and the recognition from fans of it. I have heard, however, that the paranormal/religious/near death experience stories annoyed him.
I'd read a little about Dave Bocks's case before. The investigator said that he hoped Dave was either already dead or at least unconscious when he was lowered in because it would have been a horrific way to die. EDIT: There is not a productive discussion going on in the replies.

@@morganophelia5963 Why are you asking me about fossils if you're obsessed with your fanfic cult? Shouldn't you be quoting a Harry Potter book or something?
Kathy's case made me not want to leave the house for awhile. I actually did used to live near a corner store in a sketchy neighborhood but for some reason after seeing this case, it got me more spooked for awhile 😅
I loved the old series Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, too. I have numerous paid subscriptions but I always find myself watching Unsolved Mysteries or Beyond Belief over and over on the free services.
I’d discovered your channel this time last year, while I was nursing my twins and in the process of bringing them home from the NICU. The amount of times you’ve kept me company throughout the nights(I was too afraid to go to sleep lest something happen to one of them) is unforgettable. You and Wendigoon got me through those nights. Thank you for the amazing content, Lazy.
You and my sister! Her second son knocked on the pearly gates when he was first born. Double brain bleed and >100 seizures in the first 3 days. She watched Lazy's videos because it (in a weird hormonal way) made her feel like bad things could only happen once you're old enough. In her bubble of sanity he'd be fine because he was too young to die. Thank God she was right. Now he's a happy bright 15 month old. There's issues with solid food (his brain doesn't seem to send chewing signals so he's on special drink) but the meds have made him seizure free for 6 months now! They expect the healthy part of his brain to 100% compensate for the bit that's struggling. From the prognosis "working to keep him alive but don't expect he'll be able to communicate/walk/play/think" it's a downright miracle. I hope you and your babies are doing well! ❤
My great grandfather worked at Fernald. My family got a big settlement due to the risk of cancer (which every member of my family for the last 3 generations has contracted). The last set of payments stopped with my mom and her siblings, so despite the health problems my siblings and I have, no money for us :/ Notice, however, I say "at Fernald", not "in Fernald". That's because you say in the video that this took place "in Fernald, Ohio". That's not the case. Fernald was the name of the site. The town is "Ross, Ohio" and the old Fernald site is now a federal nature preserve.
Harry Easterling from the Boiling Point (Dave Bocks) segment died in 2021 from Kidney failure brought on by his time working at NLO Feed Materials Plant. I have to wonder how many other have died because of that place. My guess is A LOT.
The voice of Robert Stack and that music cue still sends chills up my spine and takes me back to when I was a kid sitting on the floor in front of the TV watching this show (although I was there mostly for the stories about ghosts, aliens, and other "Unexplained" events).
I have known the Signal Mtn case all of my life bc I was born & still live outside of Chattanooga. The police always knew who did this, it was a matter of having enough evidence.
@@ledarbyromeo9667 I can't speak at all on Sequatchie County which is I believe the jurisdiction within which this took place but if it were Hamilton County bc it could have been, Signal Mtn is in both, I'll tell you rn, that's extremely likely. The Sheriff's Dept where I live is seriously one of the most corrupt you can imagine. A friend of mine moved her from San Diego & had been on the police force out there & once here he got on w Chattanooga PD & left fairly quick to join up w the county & quit there even quicker. He said he'd never seen a more corrupt cops anywhere in this country. It wasn't too much later that our fine sheriff was indicted on federal drug trafficking charges. The Cocaine Cowboys they were called on the national news. It was probably 12 or so yrs after the murders on Signal Mtn when that happened so & the rumors have been that there was some type of similar operation going on that Frank Casteel was involved in just a different drug but how much merit these stories have, idk. It could be it's just so easy to believe, so ppl keep telling it as if it were true. Hard to say.
I agree. There's a good reason nobody talks about Raymond Burr, Karl Malden and Dennis Farina whenever they're talking about the Golden Age of Unsolved Mysteries. Stack IS Unsolved Mysteries, hands down.
I felt that way about Metallica after Cliff died. I felt that way after my mother remarried. I felt that way about Pluto not being a planet anymore. I feel. I felt. I am. I existed. My feelings. Me. Mine.
Lazy is the only one that could take Robert stacks place and keep it eerie. His voice was made for creepy videos. I’m so glad he switched from scary stories to true crime mysteries.
For the third volume you need to include the one about the two boys whose bodies were found on a train track in Arkansas. That segment still haunts a lot of people.
You, nick crowley, shrouded hand and Mystery archive my favvvv channels, that i watch while trynna sleep. Your voices help me sleep fast, i got insomnia
Just wait until you realize one day that the Democrat party in America fosters & helps people who murder others. Then you'll also realize they attempt to take away the ability of the innocent family's ability to defend themselves with a firearm. This leaves you wide open for a murdering POS to harm your family. The Democrat party let's violent offenders out of prison time after time & they generally within a year or 2 go murder someone. Chicago, a Democrat run City, has done away with monetary bail. This means that if a would-be murderer beats you, they'll be arrested & released without sitting in jail & waiting for a hearing to determine if they'll be held in jail or released on bail. They'll just be processed & released. In California, another Democrat run state, they've arrested burglars in the process of breaking into a house, gave them a court summons & released them on the spot & they immediately went to the neighbors house & broke in & stole their car & the cops came & gave them another summons & let them go according to the law the Democrats made, & they stole the neighbor's car & crashed it into his house & knocked the wall down & burglarized the house only for the cops to come give the criminal another summons. Just wait until you realize the Democrat party is ACTIVELY allowing criminals to harm your family in ANY way they want to.
I use to first listen to you when my daughter was born and dealing with Colic, now she'll be 9 in January. She's been listening along with me and also finds comfort your voice! Keep the videos coming!! My 2yr old son is enjoying them too😂
The theme music haunted me as a little kid, but I loved the paranormal and UFO segments. It was basically the only show that would show things like that.
Unsolved Mysteries was my favorite show growing up. I'm happy to see that at least some of them did end up being solved. I thought the new show should have done a little miniseries on the solved since we last met episodes.
My 11 year old is now getting into the original Unsolved Mysteries thanks to RU-vid having the episodes. He'll look up cases afterwards to see what has happened since the 80s airing of the episode. It's sad to see so many cases still unsolved though.
This show was my first foray into the realm of true crime as a kid! The new ones are good, but something about Robert Stack and that music just hits different. It was so creepy!
@this is spam. If you create good videos it doesn’t matter what kind of camera you use and no popular RU-vid channel ever started by embarrassing themself and begging for followers.
Their bastard offspring/lesser known cryptid, has been dubbed ‘Masqueraidcon’ by the unprivileged few- who laid their now permanently scarred eyes upon them. .
my dad used to work at fernald in the 90s as a pipefitter. when i was a kid, I remember him telling me a story about a guy that was killed/died in a vat of some sort. I was told it was some kind of acid. I guess it was a story told around the plant by all the guys and the details got mixed up over time. I was never sure if it really happened or if it was just a story that was spread around. crazy to hear about it again.
I have many happy childhood memories of getting creeped out by Robert Stack on Unsolved Mysteries. Now you’ve taken up the torch! Great video as always!
If you want a really scary segment to cover, talk about the woman who disappeared after getting into a car accident, I think it was in Montana. The story is creepy in and of itself, but during the reenactment, there's a shot of a person standing motionless in a field at night, and it's absolutely unnerving.
Lazy never disappoints. I love watching Unsolved Mysteries and love watching Lazy Masquerade. A video with them together is the best. Already waiting for vol.3❤
The way he would deliver a line would send chills down my spine, goosepimples upon my frow, the hairs would raise, and my eyes would dilate. Then I'd climax & change the channel. Great oral skills
Unsolved Mysteries was such a good tv show and I was addicted to it. Seen some mystery shows since then but it wasn't nearly as good as Unsolved Mysteries.
Thank you for delivering another video to us, Lazy! This'll be the most ideal video for me to watch this late at night. Sending love from Philippines ♡
I loved unsolved mysteries. It was half early true crime, half utter bullshit (the host used to make fun of the dumber stories, especially the “re-enactments” that didn’t even adhere to the made up story they were basing it on) The spoopy theme music still gets me
My dad used to take my sister and I to this private land to hunt for arrowheads when we were younger. A famous battle took place and the landowner made it so anyone could come look on the property for arrowheads or any other battle finds. However, there was a box at the "entrance" that stated if you didn't pay so much per person he'd shoot you. Now this was in the late 80's early 90's. It never failed, we'd get there, pay, and drive down to the dry creek bed and before we'd even get out, this elderly man would be pulling up to the box, checking that we paid and wave his shotgun As to say "I'm still in control even though you paid". My dad decided after 1 more time, it was too dangerous bc the man was getting a bit unpredictable, depending on his mood. I hear the story about those 3 men and it sickens me to think how they were just going for together time like my dad would for us but it ended in such a nightmare all bc of 1 crazy landowner, er adjacent landowner.
Kathy’s story always hit harder for me, especially she used to live around the same area I grew up and live in. Heading the street names you know personally in cases like this just make it even more real and sad
Dave definitely 100% accidentally fell into that furnace, totally not a case of someone knowing too much. Nope, must’ve been a banana peel or something.
You managed to outdo Unsolved Mysteries with these cases; BRAVO. Also, sometimes we forget that broadcast TV shows like Unsolved Mysteries are much more circumscribed with descriptions of murder cases than RU-vid is.
You should cover the new one where the guy clearly killed his ex wife and he’s just smirking the entire time and her son has been screwed over by him and just wants closure and justice for his mom. It’s so tragic and creepy with how bold that man is.
I’m SO glad you covered the David Bocks/NLO plant story! And when you learn what they did to another employee’s corpse to cover up a workplace accident where one of those dust vents you mentioned malfunctioned above his head causing him to be covered with radioactive material, he died not long after, and wouldn’t you know that the very organs that would’ve had the most signs of radiation poisoning disappeared from his body while it was at the funeral home? I mean it’s just very obvious the plant was behind what happened to both of them….
Who else got their true crime obsession started with Unsolved Mysteries each week? America's Most Wanted too. As a kid, they both scared the sh*t out of me! 43 years later, here I am, still feeding my true crime addiction!😅
I'd like an update to the Jon Bennet Ramsey, there's some major new developments in this case. I also would like to hear abt the Dardeen family murders. On another note, I would LOVE for you to do a 2023 version of scary stories from all 50 states. That was AWESOME. I actually go back and listen to them often. them
YESSS A NEW LAZY EPISODE!!! THANK YOU. I feel that you, Mr. Nightmare, and Nukes Top 5 are the only youtubers that have blown up and still post scary new things never heard or seen. Everyone else just copies eachother.
I am absolutely loving this series, Lazy. I grew up with UM, and I really enjoy hearing updates on the situations that were unresolved. Pretty sure it was UM and the update music they had that started my love of cold case files. (I mean the composer for the show was extremely talented at twanging the fear receptors in everyone)
The answer to "the biggest mystery of all" is i dont want to play a game that has spent more on paying youtubers to advertise it than they have in developing the game. Having seen someone actually play it, its little more than watching cutscenes where you can spend real money to have the characters in your cutscnees wear different clothes
I remember being freaked out by the furnace episode as a kid. Sincerely hope the poor guy was at least unconscious if not already dead before they put him in.
Lazy, you seriously need to look into reading bedtime stories. You have the most soothing voice and you aren't monotone like most of the ones I've heard. Just a thought 🤔😉
Good on you for actually listening to your audio and correcting mistakes! 👏Most of these true crime RU-vidrs just churn out videos as quickly as possible and as a result they're rife with mistakes.
Kathy'a story is really sad. To live with that fear is so creepy and then when she disappears and is found is so sad. I'm glad her case was solved and she got justice for what happened to her.
If/ when you make a part 3 of this series, I'd love to see a segment on Patsy Wright. I remember that segment from my childhood and it stuck with me. An unknown killer who knew her routines poisoned her NyQuil. She was involved in the wax museum business, and someone else from the area in the business died suspiciously.
Omg I’m laying here stoked there’s a new Lazy Masquerade video, ready to get sleepy, he begins the first story which is based in my city! Crazy! Much love Lazy!
You should do something on erica fraysure... a girl from bracken county Kentucky. She was a really good friend of mine and id like to see the case brought back up. She was too good of a person for this to just be forgotten about!
