Do you remember back in the day when you'd buy an album and listen to it over and over and as you listened to it repeatedly you'd appreciate different songs over time? That is every Tool song. They are a multi-listen band, the more you listen the more you understand and appreciate
Massive difference. Im an ole fella and Invincible is one of my favorites. Very relatable. A aging warrior trying to stay relevant. I'll take the ride with you.
@@ErolReacts FYI, in case you haven't already heard this, it's probably best to avoid the official music videos (there's one for Vicarious) on the first listen. They're quite bizarre and can be distracting from the music. On the other hand, lyric videos, when you can find them, might be helpful.
Thanks for your perspective. This song is usually the entry point recommended to new listeners of TOOL, but given your music background, their song Lateralus might pique your interest more due to its complexity, but honestly the album it's a part of is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard, so you might want to save it for a full album listen.
The sound and volume level on this is great! Other videos are sometimes muted or muddy. Keep up the great work! Is Tool the best band ever? I think so...
Great Reaction! Your favorite Tool song is the one you are listening to. They put so much hard work into the design and execution of all their music. You should also try Lateralus, it is based on the Fibonacci sequence.
Adam Jones (Guitar) focuses on the emotion and tone. I really like how he can evoke a feeling and he is not just throwing an avalanche of notes at you. Tool as a bad really is about the art it produces not about who gets a solo or just showing off odd meters. They are musicians not rock "rock stars" in the 90's I didn't even know what they looked like because they didn't interviews or put their pictures on the album cover. They said "the music speaks for itself" and let the listener connect. They don't ask you to worship or idolize the performers.
Welcome to the Army! Being about the same age (guessing 60ish; if I underestimated, you’re welcome! lol), please listen to “Invincible”, off their recent album Fear Inoculum. It’s about mortality, and really hits home for us peeps who were born in the 60’s! Timeless and quintessential Tool.
The Pot was the first song from tool. During the song, the mic cut out on you, and the video was chopped. 46&2 was the one you were looking for. I'm happy to see a full reaction for the Pot. Soon enough, you will be ready for D.M.T and aliens.
If you want a good Maynard scream, TOOLs “The Grudge” is one to add to your list!. If you want to challenge yourself and have a good laugh while you’re at it, the “Lost Keys”/“Rosetta Stoned” back to back tracks are superb (definitely recommend lyrics for Rosetta Stoned). Someday check out the 10,000 Days/Wings for Marie tracks but only if you’re in a spot where you’re ready for some very personal and heavy lyrics. I personally skip them frequently because I don’t *need* to cry. Enjoy the journey!!
If you want super old Tool, I recommend Cold and Ugly. If you want newer, I'd do Invincible. Middle of the road, I'd recommend Pushit from Aenima. Just my two cents. Love your reactions!
11:27. I know that it’s a turn of phrase, however, the opposite definitely defines TOOL people. “Logically” about this band, definitely is more appropriate.🌿🌸
This is one song they don’t quite capture live if you ask me (and I I have seen it in-person). They play it live a step or two lower than the album… probably for Maynard’s voice.
I highly suggest The Grudge, Parabol/Parabola & Jambi for some serious rocking. If you want EPIC not radio friendly longer format: Third Eye (Live Salival or Album), The Holy Trinity ( Disposition/Reflection/Triad) or 7empest.
I think you have to do both but as a beginner I always point them to the intended cut where you get what they're going for and especially in cans or headphones. As you get to know them then most have their fave lives. ToOl sometimes plays like 3 seperate sequences that all of a sudden combines. It's like a constant storm pulling and pushing. Would it surprise you that Maynard (singer) is the last in line on song creations. Also if you get to Lateralus, it's written in the Fibonacci sequence.
My introduction song to these guys was Eulogy, I've been a huge fan ever since. If I may, I'd like to put in a request if you find the time for it... QOTSA - I appear missing (studio, also avoid official video and maybe do a lyric one)
I’m 99% sure you did this album version…? 46&2 was the live one with the terrible audio so make sure to give the studio version a reaction!!! Much love from Australia man 🇦🇺
I recently discovered your channel. I've been a tool fan for a long time and also saw them live with my dad ❤ me and my dad have a passion for sharing music together. He introduced pink Floyd for me and I introduced tool for him. It's a symbiosis ❤ My dad just lost his mom and I just lost my grandmother ❤ The song 10.000 days helped me trough it. It gave my grandma's life meaning and it gave her the wings she deserved❤ I think of my dad loosing her mother and I think of manyard writting 10.000 days for her mom ❤️ (she had a stroke and was in a wheelchair for 10.000 days) I saw you daughter waving in the background sometimes and I just feel connected to your relationship ❤ So a request is wings for Marie pt 1 and 10.000 days 😊
Here for it!! Thank you man! Any attention of yours is gold. There are a plethora of listens that reveal the layers and tones. 6:40 CAN I GET A HALLELUJAH? I can’t wait for you to hear the Grudge, Right in Two, Aenima, Pushit
Wasn't the first Tool song you listened to the pot and was actually the studio version and all the rest were live versions?? 😂 Maybe you meant hearing it with earphones this time? Anyway cant wait for more, keep up the great reactions ❤
It's funny you mentioned Zepplin this song is about Led Zepplin. In 1985 Willie Dixon sued Led Zeppelin, claiming that Whole Lotta Love plagiarised his own You Need Love, which was released as a single by Muddy Waters in 1962. ("Eye hole deep in Muddy Waters.") Many of the songwriters plagiarised by Page were deceased. ("Rob the grave", "Practically raised the dead.")
I'm pretty sure this is what you heard the first time hearing The Pot and that it was 46 and 2 that you heard the cell phone footage of. Never an issue with listening to Tool again though. 🤟
I’m telling you ahead of time (again, sorry but I’m really trying to keep my favorite bands nut job internet cult from running you off 😂) if you decide to do Sober, you will NEED to do the live version. I know, it’s confusing, but if you don’t, they’ll come at your neck lol. It is a good performance with good audio tho for that long ago.
😅😅😅 your comment. It's hard to get heard in the midst of the Army, but I kinda love it because there are no wrong choices and it's a challenge to let it unfold. This guy? Already hooked.
You'll find yourself having different experiences the more you listen to the same song over and over. They don't have a lot of good live videos and do their official music videos. They are trippy and don't have anything to do with the lyrics.
