I really want to top a small coffee table in teak with linoleum as my livingroom is very 70’s inspired. Your video was very helpful and the result was great!
This was super helpful. I'm going to try covering a table with the forbo linoleum and it was really nice to see how someone else did it first. And what a great piece of furniture, nice job!
Thanks for subscribing Anthony! Between this and the bentwood projects in previous episodes I came to really enjoy working with veneer. Let me know how you get on!
I discovered furniture linoleum just recently and it's hard to find people who've taken it on as a project. Lucky to have found this video. Tell me, is linoleum great for a dining table surface? Does it stand up to heat, such as a mug of hot drink? TIA for your reply.
Hi MH. Glad you like it! I wouldn’t put a pot straight out of the oven on it but a hot drink should not be a problem. The benefit of linoleum vs vinyl is that the linoleum is whatever colour it is straight through it’s whole 2mm depth so scratches do not show up as easily
Do you think the forbo would have also worked on the edge of the top too? Also on a curve as this covering looks great for a project I too have in mind
Hello Colin, Yes, I think you'd be able to laminate the Forbo onto the edge first, cut it flush and then apply the top. Just be aware that there is a black line when looking at it from the edge (you should be able to see what I mean by looking at closeups in the video). This is the paper back of the lino. A curve in a single direction, definitely, if the radius is not too small. But in multiple directions (like for the inside or outside of a bowl) it will be difficult. What are you thinking of using it for?
@@GideonMadeIt I have an old airstream caravan and looking to replace interior with something modern and wanted to cover with this. Long term project so looking for inspiration
Hello Joseph. Forbo's technical sheet can be found at forbo.blob.core.windows.net/forbodocuments/14511/Forbo%20Adhesive%20Guide%20UK.pdf. You'll see the last column is a contact adhesive. I didn't use the same brand but I've done a fair few projects with this and it hold perfectly.
Great job. I have looked on the Forbo UK web site, but they just refer to having to buy the furniture linoleum through dealers. Where did you get yours please? Thanks
