I fixed this lawn in a single day. It had been overtaken by moss, and had a fair few bare spots. It's true to say it wasn't looking it's best.

Great channel with useful information. One thing to mention though when spreading Gypsum as often as you do you should wear a mask. Gypsum is carcinogenic when it's inhaled. So much so that farmers have to carry out risk assessments for wind etc when. Spreading. It's also generally recommended to wet it down after to push it into the ground and keep it out of the air as much as possible (obviously your wetting at the end anyway just thought it worth a mention)

Hi mate, loved the video well presented and edited. As a fellow tradesmen the information you give in over seeding is spot on. Like you said when you walk away it's down to the customer to maintain the watering for the seed to germinate and then once fully germinate regularly feeding through the growing period at least once/ twice a month then the main key to thicken up the lawn is regularly cutting minimum of once a week ideally but only taking off small amounts each time that will allow the grass blade still to photosynthesis and stimulating branching. If the lawn is left to grow to long then cut short straight away then your putting the grass into an energy negative (recovery mode). People who want a nice lawn and think by over seeding or laying new turf that's what they will get remember that's just part one of the step, its the regularly maintenance afterwards then you will start seeing the results. The more you can put into it the more you will get out of it as they say, wise words. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Keep up the good work👍

Great one again Shaun. I’ve got a very uneven lawn due to it being on a slope. I’ve done all the steps a number of weeks ago and had some decent germination on a good portion. However some areas haven’t germinated at all or have only just started, so I’ve got some longer grass now and some still seed/just started to shoot. Should I cut it now and just cut my losses on the bare patches and reseed?

Ive been trying to revive my lawn for a few weeks now, and done aeration, and brushed in compost and some grass seed but im just using the compost bags you see outside supermarkets and bargain shops and its always soaking wet and really clumpy. it breaks down when brushing it in but the stuff youre using looks miles easier to work with. im assuming all compost is pretty much good for your lawn but which is the easiest to work with?

Hey, found your channel today and have been enjoying your content and learned a fair bit too already. I've got a. area of "lawn" (yeah right, I wish) which is in the shade for most of the day, getting only a few hours of direct sun in the evenings in the summertime. Maybe 5 hours at most. Consequently, I've never had any success getting lawn there. It is now a small but desolate wasteland of failure..😢 I had the bright idea this year (after battling it for about 15 years or so) to widen the pathway next to it and widen out the flower bed opposite and bring them almost together, thus no longer having to look at that barren monstrosity. I've got plants which seem to grow ok in that shady flowerbed so I could spread them out, split up some big Iris plants etc to take up the space. So my question, have I simply just not been trying the right things and in reality if it is done right, there would be no reason to not be able to grow nice grass there? Or is my plan to re landscape the better option in this situation? Thanks in advance
@LawnRight
@LawnRight 15 дней назад
Hi some grasses are designed for shady areas.. You can go online and search for shaded grass seed.. May have tall fescue in etc.. But even so grass needs a minimum of 3 hours a day of direct sunlight to be at full health so usually shady areas will still thin to varying degrees.. By all means give some a go and see if you can improve lighting

@LawnRight

Hi they all clog up at times. I personally don't worry, as if a bit of sticky clay soil is in the hollow tine, it does eventually get pushed out by the next piece of soil or the one after that. You can periodically clean it and spray some wd40 in the tines to help but ive never done it.. in this video it was the JNJ one but he has sadly sold out at the minute.. The walensee (non hollow tine) is a decent budget one, as is the landline premium one

Hi.. I'm a little lazy.. The Camon has been in storage at the far end of the garden and the classes was much closer 😁.. However I have literally just used it on a job Friday which will be on the channel soon

Most clay soils are not sodic, so gypsum will not improve their structure or drainage. Gypsum is also not effective at changing soil pH When gypsum is appropriate, it is usually broadcast on the soil surface at rates of 2.5-10 t/ha, with higher rates used for heavy clay soils. Incorporation into the top 10 cm is recommended. Application should be done well in advance of the growing season to allow the gypsum time to dissolve and take effect In summary, gypsum can be a useful amendment for sodic clay soils, but it is not a universal solution for all clay soils. Testing the soil to determine its properties is advisable before applying gypsum

I wouldn't of done it in that order personally. Think I would of cut short first, scarified, aerated, gypsum, seed, top dressed and finally fleeced it. But that's not to say your way is wrong. Just a bit different to mine that's all. The end result will be the same I guess. It's just how we get there differs

Your way was exactly how I did it at the weekend, apart from the gypsum 👍

No disrespect of course because your videos are ace, but that compost spreader looks a load of rubbish…you are better using the back of the rake and,it’s not cumbersome like the silly compost spreader…..
