I bought a ‘68 C-10 5 lug. I’m in Mansfield TX. The build starts this winter. It does not have a motor or transmission so it’ll be a frame off restoration.
i get a lot of old trucks from hauling cars for places that people are cleaning up i got from a rich ranch a lot of good rigs just to give u an idea one was a 67 rs ss 427 yenko camaro with a 79 4x4 short box in mint condition just needed a new fuel pump and carb cleaned out from sitting for years in a shop
Bro I love it. I have a 69 C20, too. I love the off road look. I always wanted to slam a chevy so I did just that with mine but lately I've been getting an itch for a lifted C20.
I love the '69 front end, and I'm down with all ride heights. This one is pretty much stock, I just stuffed the biggest tires underneath that would fit
Greetings, it is a beautiful pickup. I have a 67 here in Argentina. Here there is a 6-cylinder engine. There is no v8. I have had that pickup since 67 forma parte de mi vida la diferencia que hay con su pais es que aqui para reparar una pickup cueata muchisimo todo es muy caro los repuestos pero me encanto como quedo simple y bonita
Very rad!!! I have a 70 c10 myself… switched out the motor.. lowered it 5” rear 3” in front… rewired the whole thing and now hunting for a 4 speed auto trans… and yes need to put disc brakes on the front… getting there…and like you need to get my wallet ready! 👍💯
Love everything but the wheel/tire setup.. in my opinion, these old trucks look better slammed, but not too low…like 5” off ground, but certainly not lifted or w/ mud tires…but I respect your vision!!
I agree in certain respects. I think the short beds look good low with the right wheels/tires, but the long beds look terrible lowered or with too small of tires. I used to have a '72 4x4 long bed that looked awesome lifted and on 35" tires, but the 2wd long bed is tough to get the look right. I like the way I have this one setup, but I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for watching!
That was my original plan actually. It ended up being way more cost effective once I found the 12 bolt and the squarebody front subframe for way cheaper than a front disc conversion kit and a posi unit for the eaton rear end. I was planning on steelies and fat tires either way though, it's my favorite look. Thanks for watching!
Oh, it's cool! I just got a C-20, and I'm doing almost the same suspension and drivetrain changes you made. Except that I'm going from a leaf spring set up to arms with coils.
@@rowdy3837 It's coming along. I am about to get it running in the next week or two. Everything takes longer than I thought it was going to, so I decided to do it all at once. Short bed conversion, leaf spring to coils, drop spindles and lower springs 2.5/4 , changed to a 12 bolt rear end, disc brakes all around, hydroboost, headers and new exhaust and electric fans. Also along the way I cleaned and painted everything that I could. I was lucky that it was a truck from the desert, so there was no rust, just black widows and hornet nests in all the wrong places. Good luck with your build, I wish I had a 454 in mine, but the 350 is running strong, so I don't want to mess with it right now.
Beautiful REAL Truck Blake! She harkens back to days before plastic, fiberglass, ecm's, sensors, man buns and political correctness. I'll be looking for a 67-72 myself soon. Too old to wrench on em anymore, just gonna buy it turn key. Good luck to you!
Thank you! Ive had a few of these now, 2 have needed quite a bit of work but one was more turn-key and it was a blast to cruise. Super fun trucks, I love em
Phase 2 kind of got put on the back burner. I just moved to Utah for a new job and had to leave the C10 behind with some family for a little bit. It's on the long list of things to get done though, thanks for watching!
Thanks! These are Wheel Vintiques, they're made with the hubcap nubs. I love the steelie/dogdish look but wanted some wider than stock. They're great, but a little pricey
Thanks dude! I used a green scotch brite pad and some Comet. It's basically a mild abrasive that takes the top oxidized layer off of the old single stage paint.
Hah you're right! I think I found the chrome ones on ebay, and the white ones on the 67-72 chevy truck forums. Gotta always be looking and a deal will pop up from time to time
Blake, you do very nice work. I like the shock absorber modification. I was wondering if you could send me the paint code number its inside the glove box on the top of the SPID I am repainting a 67 C-20 but the paint code is not legible the number May start with ( 045 _ _ _ ) Thanks in advance Pete
i love the truck! did you use just standard c20 replacement springs or the heavy duty ones? also do you remember the offset of your wheels front and back?
Thanks! I used C10 springs, C20's would've been pretty stiff. The offset of those Wheel Vintiques is close to 0, I can't remember off the top of my head though, sorry
Comet and a scotchbrite pad. It didn't turn the rust black, but scrubbed off the top oxidized layer exposing that black primer underneath. This trick only works on old single stage paint, nothing with a modern clear coat
I think i used some VHT frame/axle paint just in a spray can. I first wire wheeled/sand papered it down, then used a coat or two of primer below that though
