The Port Injection should now solve the intermittent fuel distribution. It is infinitely tune-able and you can control the fuel curve. Congrats on te modifications and you get to keep the tunnel Ram which provides the car with a wild esthetic. It does look like a Giant Hot Wheels car and should be a Kid Favorite now.

As for the future, this setup looks a bit like Turbo Yoda's dual-fuel supercharged big block. Once it has a huge blower, fuel injectors can return to the top - or even just carbs offset by the injectors! Edit: BUT FULL CUSTOM

Hey Jared, Great episode! Anyways, thanks for being a solid car build channel. It motivated me to get wrenching again. Despite all the issues and roadblocks trying to stop me, I finally got my GTI back on road this weekend. Send some pictures later maybe. Wouldnt have happened if not for your channel. I am serious. It makes a lot of sense that the low air pressure with the tunnel ram intake, would cut out when throwing the car around. The centrifugal force would throw the fuel droplets to drip down the sides, instead of flowing past the valves. Especially with that offset casting. It likely would have been fine with a blower on top. I bet you make another 100 horses between the improved air flow and port injection!

I like to over complicate my projects so I would have the port injectors for some pump gas idle and cruise and run race fuel or methanol to the throttle body injectors for fun times. As Jarad stated the throttle body system worked above 4000 rpm and the earlier you get fuel in the cooler the engine will run which is very important for burnouts.

That is what I am trying to do, just differently. Instead of blowing at the tires, I’m trying to use it to clear in front of me, and in some testing it does look like it can do it

I was thinking on modding my subaru and started to do research. I big takeway was not all aftermarket parts get along. So plan your build and use parts that are proven to work together. On another topic, that TBI for meth injection once you get a blower would be lit😂😂😂

I think the only problem with dual stacked superchargers is unless you flip the bottom one the top one will need modifications.

Hey Jared, I assume that you have your injectors connectors pointed in, to hide the wiring. But why take the injectors out of the throttle body? Why not run 16 injectors? 8 in the throttle body, and 8 in the tunnel ram? I'm not 100%, but you could or should be able to run 16 injectors with a Holley Dominator EFI. That would allow 70% of your fuel to come from your throttle body, and 30% to come from your tunnel ram. This would cool the fuel and air temp and give you more horsepower. Bart

Wouldn't it make sense to just run 16 injectors instead of blocking the top 8? 8 up and 8 down? The ECU would be able to control that?

You absolutely could but the engine doesn’t require that much, and would still potentially lead to fuel pooling. So to simplify tuning and avoid the same issue, we just move them down!

I think Engine Masters did a test on this and found that the tunnel ram gave more horsepower as is. I could be wrong. Does anyone else remember that show?

TBI is a step up from a carburetor 😂 that’s something only a person could say if they weren’t around cars in the 80’ and most of the 90’s😂 when it first came out it was terrible. Sure worked good, until it didn’t. GM especially was terrible. Only car that I will give them props for then was the Iroc Z tpi, still have nightmares about them, but were fast for the time.

Sir. Amateur question. How does a tunnel ram benefit when the car has very little forward velocity? Let alone when there is so much smoke in the inducted air. I can see the need for a blower.

This is 98% a cosmetic choice, a lot to me of what makes a good burnout car is the visual of it. So we make a cosmetic choice and then try to fight to make it work around it.

It’s hit or miss, it’s part of the absolutely silly nature of the car, but there is room and they could be built to go down. There is also a functional plan to them- to help clear smoke during skids.

Ok, the manifold change is certainly "questionable". IMHO, you could have done to the edelbrock exactly what you did to the weiand. Yes, you would have had to port the edelbrock to port match your heads but the whole reason you had problems before was not only round to rec port heads and poor flow out of the efi alignment to runners, it was you were putting BOTH fuel and air mixture through them. With the edelbrock modded as you did to weiand, you only have AIR FLOW, which you could have modded the runners as the top comes off the edelbrock. Yes, more labor, but less $$$. IF you had kept the original TBI's as TBI's and not just TB's you would definitely see better performance with the weiand due to runner alignment with said TBI's. Now you've negated that benefit with port injection and perhaps some of your cooling effect with an AF mixture in the intake. Your bottom line of better air flow is negligible as it's only air and a modded runner edelbrock may have been just as good. Maybe you ought to try it and dyno test? Prove me wrong, IDM.😏😉

@@vettesrule3170 one big issue is there is not enough material to port the edlebrock to match, or even get close down below. It is better suited to someone who has the smaller port heads. Will say this, just had the first start as multi point injection and it is substantially better.

Tank was actually so full it was coming out the filler, in this case it was too rich and fuel pooling/bad distribution. You can see fuel residue/pools in the old intake

Dumb question, but why do you need throttle bodies if the Blower has its own? It would maybe make sense if it was a two stage (2 ports open, then the other 2), but his seems to be a single stage. Really appreciate if someone can explain this to me

Right now I don’t have a blower, that top hat is just a big catcher, classic hot rodding stuff. The tolerances of that are pretty awful and have so many small air leaks around it.
