Hi Danielle, I have watched your channel for years now and I just have to tell you, you do an amazing job! I have learned so much from you! From learning about flowers, to learning about doing cut flowers in the landscape, being inspired from all the tours you do in your yard and all the other gardens that you tour, learning about how to space your plants and how many plants can go in a certain amount of space, to even learning about different books out there that cover cut flowers and an even designing floral arrangements. I must say, I've probably bought almost every book you've recommended and absolutely loved reading them over the winter! You are by far one of my most favorite channels to watch and I'm so glad that I came across your channel when I did! I do hope that you will do another q&a because I forgot to submit a question that I had and I would love to be able to ask you on the next q&a. Thank you again for being a place where we can come together as gardeners and learn and be inspired. And also thank you for introducing me to amaryllis. Because of you I now own over 20 amaryllis and I even bought more for this year!😊

Latisha! It sounds like we are kindred flower spirits! Thank you so much for this kind comment. I’m so thankful for you and that we could connect. What’s your favorite amaryllis variety so far???? Always room for a few more!!
@LatishaLiptrap
@LatishaLiptrap 11 месяцев назад
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm Yes, kindred flower spirits for sure! I have been gardening for about 5 years now and the first two years I was just buying flowers from my local nursery, and the 3rd and 4th years I was mixing in flowers from seed and still buying some stuff from the nursery, but this year I completely grew all my flowers from seed and nothing gives me so much joy than to walk around my garden and see all these wonderful flowers that I grew from little seedlings! Now I get super excited when I get a new pack of seeds. It's like the best kind of treasure! I think I grew approximately 4,000 flowers this year from seed ( some annuals and some perennials). I am from Paradise California and my zone is 9b so my growing season is extremely long which I'm very thankful for and the climate I'm growing in is very dry. Usually it's very hot in the summer, but this summer for us was just an absolutely perfect summer! And I did buy Lisa Mason Ziegler's book because of you as well and pretty much all the cool flowers I can sow in the fall here. I must say that I have also bought many many bulbs from longfield gardens because of your recommendation. And especially gladiolus. You have inspired me to plant and I really want one of those Costa ones but every time I go to order one they are always sold out. But I have to say the way that you talk about different flowers and why you like them and describe their coloring has really opened my eyes to different flowers I never even thought about before like the gladiolus. So the amaryllis (which I also bought the book that you mentioned about amaryllis) I bought from the company Colorblends ( which I believe is a bulk bulb company). I have purchased from them...Magnum, Marilyn, Rosie star, Bogota, double delicious, Rosalie, and stardust. Marilyn, is probably my most favorite from that company because it has beautiful white petals with a light green center and it's multi -petaled, which just kind of makes me think of Marilyn Monroe in a sense. I think it just represents to me femininity and it just looks so delicate. It's very stunning! But my real favorite was the very first one I bought after seeing your amaryllis and it just came from Lowe's I am not sure of it's name but it kind of looks like silver dream from that same website and the amazing thing about that particular bulb is that it generally blooms twice a year for me. It's kind of funny because it was the cheapest amaryllis that I've purchased and it's not the most stunning. But it was my first and it will always just kind of hold a special place in my gardening journey.

Danielle, yes, I like this format. I have to say I have learned so many things about flowers from your videos. I tried the hot water bath for conditioning dahlias this year and oh my, it is amazing how long the dahlias last in the vase now, as opposed to going over in just a day or two. Also the tissue removal of the lily pollen...I could go on and on. Thank you for all the information that you share in such a clear, concise way. Keep it coming. I watch them all.

20 years ago I use to use this same technique for roses where if they started dropping you soaked them in water then put in fridge. Tulips are notorious for this too and you can do that with them as well. But mainly used for roses. Good tip.

I love all your videos, but this one was great as it answered a lot of common questions we, as cut flower growers want to know. Also, your videos teach (which is why I do RU-vid) :) This year was an experimental year for me and next year I've been asked to develop a cut flower garden on a farm. So that will be fun! Planning on taking Floret's workshop as well. I took Gardener's Workshop last year. I spend the winter learning (never lasts long enough), and work at a garden center spring through mid-December, make garden videos (appreciate your videos..I know the work that goes into them), garden in my own garden and try to grow my business. Never enough hours in a day! Love, love, love your bouquet at the end!

The has to be one of the best videos I've watched on YT all summer (and certainly one of the most informative on cut flowers). Thank you for sharing all of your wisdom! I garden in the Pacific Northwest in a high humidity zone as well. My biggest challenge (and there are lots of them, from bud worms to aphids) is powdery mildew. I love roses but am considering whether it's feasible to continue growing them. And by this time of year, while the blooms are still beautiful, my dahlias' foliage is nearly white it's so covered in powdery mildew. I loved your advice on what cut flowers to grow in the landscape. I have been thinking about that a lot this month so the timing on your video was perfect. A million thanks for this!

At 23:50 that was me 🙋🏼‍♀️asking if you’ve experienced ants on Pro Cuts. Most of mine get ants (I don’t grow the white ones either). I do dunk them after I cut them In Castile soapy water and that kills the ants but doesn’t hurt the blooms. It’s just quite a pain to have to do that. I guess my garden areas are just prone to ants!
