Old Guy 👴 riding the original tech trails at Revo!! 🤘 (Yawn..😴🤣) Here's the timings if you want to view a particular one:
Ghetto is at the start
Mainline : 4:37
L1 : 9:11
Poop Pipe (Poop Chute) : 11:13
Colins Corners : 14:24
Reddy McRedface : 15:45
Second day of our yearly double header to North Wales after having spent the previous day at Antur Stiniog. Revolution Bike Park this time. Myself, my son, Rob, and usual DH buds Mark and Jay this time. We pushed ourselves to the limit. Well us old gits did anyway!! Personally my 4th visit.
Last year I feel I mastered the Freeride line, the other Reds and a smattering of the easier Black sections, partly thanks to having got myself my 2014 GT Fury! (If it was good enough for the Athertons...??!!). So if you're looking for a Freeride Line PoV or Red Downhill, see my edit from last year, it's all much the same, so I didnt feel the need to publish those this year:
• Revolution Bike Park ...
I've come a long way since a couple of years ago when I couldn't get down a single trail without falling off, threw my toys out of the pram and stopped at lunchtime!! I remember being at the top of where Mainline splits off with L1 and wondering how anyone could ever ride down them. One of my first PoV's after getting the GoPro was my second visit and I was whooping and hollering in excitement just to have reached the bottom:
• Revolution Bike Park -...
This year was aimed at nailing all the old tech runs Blacks like Mainline especially but also nailing Reddy McRedface as it is a tech trail so included that.
Just to say, Revolution has become THE Freeride MTB venue for advanced riders with trails like 50:1 and the new Vision line. Those are way beyond me even thinking about and I'm never gonna even try. But on this visit I was determined to pitch myself against all the Old School Tech runs that have been there from the start and see if could do those runs that just seemed impossible when I first came. Box... ticked...
So perhaps Revolution is fast becoming all about HUGE free ride lines with massive gaps, step ups etc.. But in this video, I give all the original trails a bit of love and attention. Revo is still not for beginners, IMHO I think you have to be at least a progressing intermediate to hit this Bike Park. But at that level it has stuff for everyone now and a good day for all, even if you have to stick to the easiest line down Freeride!
This visit stretched me to my limit. A few little offs and wobbles, parked myself into a tree at one point but to be expected because Revolution Black runs are B.L.A.C.K.. Some foot downs here and there too, but it was a personal target to ride those trails with a degree of success! I would still say I am around average, just the upper end of average with a big splash of luck! The bike I ride is big factor, but as 50 years old starts to fade in the rear view mirror and the next milestone becomes 60, I wanted to tick the Revolution DH box whilst I still could!! I'll leave the big lines to Rob later!
