Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won the women's 400-meter hurdles final at the U.S. Olympic trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, setting a new world record of 50.65 seconds. Rai Benjamin won the men's 400 hurdles in a meet record of 46.46 seconds. Nikki Hiltz won their second consecutive national title in the women's 1,500 meters, clocking a personal-best 3 minutes, 55.33 seconds. In the men's 5,000 final, Grant Fisher won his second gold of these trials after already winning the men's 10,000. The day was filled with action, medals, and a farewell from javelin stalwart Kara Winger.
The Olympic competition featured several events, including the women's 100 hurdles final, men's 800 meters final, and women's javelin final. Masai Russell won the women's 100 hurdles final, while Alaysha Johnson and Grace Stark secured the final spot on Team USA for the event at the Paris Olympics. Bryce Hoppel set a personal best and meet record in the men's 800 meters final, while Woody Kincaid won the 5,000 meters final. Kara Winger moved up to second place in the javelin final, still shy of the Olympic standard.
