Hey all! I'm excited to share with you how I completely rewired my obsession with my bodyweight in recovery. I wanted to share this a few months back but waited to see how things settled so that I was 100% sure my technique had worked (which it has!). Neural plasticity is AMAZING!

Like they say, ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it’! And praise be for that

My midwives never weighted myself during my two pregnancies and that was the best decision I have ever made. I relapsed after both pregnancies in part because of the high demands of a newborn and the caloric needs of breastfeeding. But both my pregancies went great because I never knew my weight during the process. During my relapse, my doctor weighed me and it accentuated my behaviors sadly. So now I don't want to know. At least for a while ! Like you suggest Emily !

When I was inpatient they made us face the number every week and it NEVER got any easier. It always sucked and did nothing to rewire. I am doing blind weights now as an outpatient which is still difficult but I am training myself not to ask anything about it (up,down same). Seems to be working better for me.

This is a perfect example of how to initiate neural rewiring of weight gain fear/obsession... ACT as if you don't care to train your brain that it isn't important- which often involves some fake it til you make it! Brilliant job and thank you so much for sharing xx

I went to Bempton Cliffs in May and it was the best thing EVER! Literally cried when I spotted my first puffin, it made me so so happy! Yorkshire is stunning!

First rule on my ED treatment centre was, no scales, no mirrors, no body checking, no control over wht u eat (relatives choose it for u)

Thank you for your insights once again. Need to get to a point where I don't have to be weighed as outpatient. Blind weighing is probably an option though 🤞

I would certainly advocate that you push for blind weigh ins :) x

Please can you address severe edema all over! I literally do not feel comfortable at all my face is so puffy! Also can you address those of us who really want to leave the house but so afraid of what people will think or say? I already have social anxiety and my bigger body already scares me. My brain hasn’t caught up with the rapid weight gain yet🤦🏻‍♀️☹️

So much of recovery is about facing your fears. You’ve already done some of the hardest work. F*** people. Who cares what they think. Do you. Personally I don’t feel well enough to go out. I have a lot of pain in my body. But when I do feel well enough, I don’t care how big I am, I’m going to the river to just listen to the water. Can’t wait!

Totally unrelated but wondering if you could talk about pain, edema, and exhaustion in recovery?

Feeling the same way through my recovery. Kayla Rose speaks about this extensively in her channel. Not many RU-vidrs are talking about edema, which Is huge for many of us.

Ty!!! If I retained any more water I will explode! It’s enough to gain weight but water weight as well is horrible! I don’t recognize my face at all! And feel bloated and tight everywhere. It’s awful I hope this is addressed more. Because I keep praying this is the right way to recover🙏🏼🌈🙏🏼. So happy I’m not alone in this. I am drinking less water then before going all in so I’m going to up my water and add lemon👍🏼 but still eat what I want.

@@dancingpixie74sb yes I am dealing with the same. I’ve heard a lot of conflicting info about this. How long have you had the edema? I’m 5 months in and still have it.

@@elyzak333 hi I know you didn’t ask me lol But I’m 5 months and 2 weeks in and I still have it too. It’s pitting now. I totally understand the way you feel, I’m like I’m a diff person with these edema on. Please update us when it improves I will do the same.

@@Andy-vu1zs yep sorry I didn’t mean to bypass you. I’m so sorry you’re going thru this too. It’s really awful. I just wish there was something we could do but there isn’t. A friend of mine had it too and saw a doctor and they couldn’t find anything wrong but put her on a diuretic and it only made it worse.
