Good for you-- let us know when you're on TV or even youtube so we can check you out.. by the way this is REX (the drummer in this video).. People like you are funny.. Keep watching us from home.. LOL
you probably dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last few weeks :)
Its a tribute to his best friend Calvin Rodgers! if you don't know why hes playing with such aggression and "extraness" Calvin was brutally beaten and left for dead. Because he survived, the chi-town came together and had a tribute! That's why hes playing like a mad man! And to the guy that says drummers are sounding the same, you need to get out more! Or maybe you aren't in the same industry as us!
Walter Daniels Most of the complainers don’t even play drums. We have some of the best musicians on planet earth in Chicago. When this happened to Calvin, WE CAME TOGETHER. Instead of judging what you don’t understand, just watch and learn.
Some People on RU-vid loves to find anything negative and knowing that REX and CALVIN are close friends! If you watched the video before this one where Rex is telling all the people in that building how great of their friendship is! He admits that if it wasn't for the help of Calvin, Rex wouldn't be where he at now. So this eliminates the statements of him showing off! He playing for his friend getting hype that it's a benefit program instead of a Funeral. So he playing to his best ability..yes a few chops were kinda slopped BUT I can picture the pressure on him to play like this in front of Calvin like that! Every musician gets like that when they play they best ability in front of the person they admires.! Rex killed this performances so I just wanted to clear that up!
I cant believe ppl have the nerve to put negative comments, no matter how he sounds this is still a guy with an established career as a musician not to mention he's been playing for Mary j. Blidge since 2002
At the time, this performance was a tribute to Calvin Rodgers, so it was like he was one of the featured drummers for the evening. There was no overplaying in this video he was "Choppin" for his fellow drummer friend. We all know Rex can play a mean pocket groove, I don't think he'd be playing for Mary J Blige if he couldn't, come on now..
Say man Rex is one of my favorite drummers, it's nice to see him open up. I only wish the it would've went on longer when they got to you are awesome, but the whole band smashed
+Justin Dee but if u got that call u would be in a hurry to pack your bags and taking selfies on the way to the airport talking about "about to hit with MJB" man please
Power to the people and, well, power to that drums! The drums love him and he loves the drums! Congrats from Germany, thats awsome playin'! I enjoyed that on the other side of the planet, well done dude!
How can ya'll hate on this? All I see is a God fearing man giving himself away to Gods will and doing it perfectly unto his name. I don't care if he over under played or was in between. regardless lol i wish i could play like him lol.. and taking into account its a benefit concert for Calvin Rodgers after his attack i would say he played his heart out for his friend.. love you all
wow,I love it,He is really fun to watch,I would Love to have a drummer like this in my church, they make the Gospel Fun,He is MJB's drummer though..:-))
at the end of the day some of y'all opinions dont matter... rex is a professional musician doing what most of us wish we could do for a living. half of y'all hating cuz y'all can't execute like this. but thats my 2 cents nobody asked for.
First thank god for Calvin being alive secondly this is gospel and I'm speaking from personal experience when you play like that after going thru what you've been thru your just feeling the music and you honestly don't care whats going on around you so please if you don't have nothing nice to say just wave your hand and tip out the video. Rex beimg one of my favorite drummers from what I seen never shows out he let the music and god work thru him to deliver this performance. This is my 2 cent to go on with Ashton too cent
that little dance that Rex does at 4:19 - 4:31 always gets me kicking and pumped up!!! Godbless man! shout outs from Jamaica :) #spiritfilledperformance!!
Funny... When The Band Break came up... My girl came in the room ready to twerk... Im like "Yo...This is Im Chasing After You" ... Her Face Expression was priceless!! lololol... I love Rex's Energy
This video proves you don't always need a headset or something in your ears to play ... U just got to feel it on the inside and lock in with that grove
He kills it !!! If I tried to play this hard I'd just be Dead ! But when I was a young man I swung hard! But this kid is in the stone!!!!!!!!!!! God bless..swing away.......Ed G.
I LOVE IT BRO KEEP MAN YALL KEEP PLAYING FOR THE LORD MAN! i LOVE THE TALKBOX MAN THATS MY KINDA STUFF MAN AND THE WHOLE FLOW WAS JUST NEXT LEVEL MAN. I LOVE GIVEN PROPS CAUSE WE SHOULD ALL ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER. WE GOTTA BE IN UNITY MUSICIANS AND WORSHIP LEADERS ETC.....
A lot of people are missing the fact that not only that this is tribute concert for Calvin Rodgers, not a church service, but that this is a LIVE ARRANGEMENT. There is no right or wrong way to play it. This was arranged by the MD with his own ideas and being very innovative. In other words the HITS are supposed to be like the BAND in this video are playing them
Yall chill on them negative comments. This joint is fire!! Remix of chasing after you. Rex killed it. I seen no unnecessary chops. He kept pocket then unleashed his chops on time. Great drummer FRFR. I been a fan of him for 3 years.
Tell em Rex! I really don't understand why there are so many haters around, especially when someone else and not them get recognition or compliments for something good the've accomplished. Good Job bro. Well done.
some of these negative posts are just an indication that people are gonna have negative things to say regardless. Hopefully we can all see that a gift is just that and sincerely lets give credit where its due. I really dont think its necessary to keep defending your gift. let those who dont like it stay in their mindset and YOU keep goin progressing gettin better and achieving more. God gave the gift and NOONE can take that away. Gods best to you REX!!
To each is own, but I know in my comment i specifically say "God given talent, mixed with hard work and dedication." I believe God blesses us all, no matter if you believe in him or not. But you still have to put the work in.
