REY Movie Cancelled? It's Not Looking Good For Kathleen Kennedy's Ego Star Wars Film 

Instead of having Luke Skywalkers son lead, they choose Rey Palpatine instead..i hope this movie isn't made..

This would have been a $200m movie that took $300m at the box office. They can't keep burning money these idiots.

After all recent failures, especially the sequel trilogy, I can already tell it was going to be loaded with spite.

The franchise is already screwed up at this point. I'd wait another 10 years with KK as head of Lucas Film just to see her get fired. I want her to get fired. I need her to get fired. The head of the Flop Factory does NOT deserve a "winner".

I honestly can’t see a Rey movie being anything but terrible. No offence to Daisy Ridley who seems perfectly charming but Rey is a terrible character and I wouldn’t trust Lucasfilm to boil an egg let alone make a good Star Wars movie.

KK’s ego is way more important than a script. Just film some scenes and slap a Star Wars label on it. Why mess the current format?

Only two people really want a Rey movie, Daisy Ridley and Kathleen Kennedy. The first of those simply for the pay cheque and the second purely for ego.

Palpatine will come back again and reveal he's really a Skywalker. Han was his son and they built the millennium falcon together when Han was a kid as a school project. And finally it was him who really trained Yoda..... All insane and terrible $hit, but right up Disney's alley.

I never thought this movie would get made. The character sucks and they killed the universe. What would Rey do? What is her goal? Who is her enemy? Who are her friends? There simply is no story to tell.

Rey had THREE movies to establish some semblance of a good character people who like SW could support & the company behind those films blew it. What would make a fourth Rey-centric movie any different? The sheer spite for the audience from the director alone was enough to put said audience off the project, these things are cancelling themselves!

It was never going to be made in the first place. Just Kathy throwing her weight around, by telling her media contacts it was a go. She’s so utterly transparent, it’s hilarious.

Its almost 10 years since Episode 7. Everyone in that movie are a decade older, or in Carry's case, dead. If you started pre-production now, maybe it would be out in 2026? So Ridley would be pushing 35? Hamill would be 75, and I dont think he wants anything to do with Disney Star Wars. Boyega is definitely out. Adam Driver is off doing his own indy stuff now. Maybe you get Oscar Isaac? So it would be a 35 year old Daisy Ridley and...a bunch of new actors? Good luck.

On the contrary I want the film to be made and released with a massive budget bigger than Avatar 2. Think of how much more money Disney would lose! All the videos trashing the film would be quite entertaining.

There is no Rey movie because there is nothing else for her. All of the legacy characters were either killed off or the actors died in real life. The newer characters didn’t really keep eyes on the screen except for Finn. Unfortunately his role was to remind everyone who was the main character. They had a decent antagonist, but then they made him a palpatine puppet. Who would be the antagonist for this movie? Besides rebuilding the Jedi order, what would be the challenges for her? I bet they were going to do an evil twin or clone pitch, but was later rewritten for the Acolyte. We all know how that ended. No one is excited for this project except for KK ,and every time she’s excited about something it usually sucks for everyone.

LA and CA gave lucasfilm like 100+ m in tax credits and incentives to film specifically in CA for this movie

This is the biggest "who cares" movie to date. I sincerely hope they make it, and I hope it's expensive.... I want to watch it completely annihilate the brand. The Star Wars shows have been expensive, yes, and proven to be a net-negative in regards to profitability... but dropping these shows on D+ is cowardly. If Lucasfilm's new, "female-centric" Star Wars universe doesn't get the big, glorious stage of the THEATRE to prove its worth, then we'll never truly get to see it utterly fail in the fashion it deserves. Right now, it's only kind-of-quietly failing on streaming.

Myself this who project has been a mess. It seemed to be rushed from the get go and was announced with the only direction coming from Lendalof but as more time wore on just nothing seemed to happen. It's possible that no one wants to work on this or this was announced with the only intention of drumming up investors and that's it. Because there seems to be more interest in the Mando film which actually had a contract in the pipeline, the Ray film doesn't sound like it even had that.

Mr. H. I'm going to give you some things from my sources on the Rey Movie and a Bonus. From Dr. Doom to Avengers: Doomsday. Take them all with a grain of salt! But if i turn out to be correct. You know my source is good. Anyways, lets go. The movie called "Star Wars: New Jedi Order" starring Daisy Ridley is currently filming, and has been since September 2. That's all I know about that for now. Dr. Dooms first appearance will be in a post-credit scene for "The Fantastic Four". Now for Avengers: Doomsday. The only cast I know of in this movie right now besides RDJ is "The Fantastic Four". There in it. I also have a synopsis for this film that may contain spoilers. It's fairly long, so I'm not going to post it. But let's just say this. Silver Surfer is involved. Dr. Doom starts as a friend of sorts and eventually becomes "The Foe". Would be funny, either way - if it's canceled, that's funny as it means they realize it's going to lose money. If they go through with it, I think that'll be funny, too, because they'll definitely lose money on it. Win-win for Star Wars fans. I'll keep rooting for this stuff to fail until the content Kathleen Kennedy has created is all officially de-canonized. Until then, they are not getting a cent from me.

As long as Kathleen Kennedy is in charge, I can’t see them canceling the Rey Palpatine movie. They might not ever get around to making it, but Kathleen won’t let them cancel it. Pity.

This thing has had numerous problems, not least that they shouldn't have gone through with it in the first place.

I think part of the problem for people getting involved with these Star Wars projects is that they discover that the person in charge is actually a straight up anti-Lucas, Star Wars hater. That can make things pretty awkward for someone who wants to make a REAL Star Wars movie. (It seems to be the same old story. Someone comes up with an interesting script, and along the way, it gets rewritten to suit Kathleen Kennedy's approval, into something that barely resembles the original version (the Obi-Wan series pretty much got sabotaged). Steven Knight might actually have come up with something good, only to run into the anti-George Lucas mentality infecting Lucasfilm these days, probably like others before him). Also, by now audiences realise that Kathleen Kennedy has been deliberately destroying George Lucas's legacy. And anything that she strongly supports is now pretty much toxic to Star Wars fans. Kennedy wants a 'win' to 'prove' she was right to do what she's been doing for the last decade at Lucasfilm, especially after the wreckage she's made of George Lucas's franchises. But fans have been kicked in the teeth way too many times. Personally, right now, I'm only interested in the Andor series (which is actually GOOD) and anything Favreau might be involved in (as long as he's allowed to do his thing).

Lots of content creators have been talking for a while that this Rey movie was a given. Absolutely NOT. It's been on the backburner for quite a while now, Daisy Ridley STILL hasn't even got a script and look at her body language of late. It has been put on the backburner pending performance of ongoing and imminant projects and we all know how that is playing out. It still could happen but SO much is going to depend on the Mando and Grogu flik. Read the room Disney, Mando's arc is OVER, that film is going to bomb and the Rey movie will almost certainly not get made. I give it a 10% chance. A generous 10%.

They really don't want this movie at this point. They know already it's throwing good money at bad, at this point.

The only way it would work is if Rey was constantly fighting the Palpatine in her. She could be considered a faraway, shadowy figure, in the Galaxy causing death and suffering but also good. In the end she would sacrifice herself to save the Galaxy.

I don't think Bob Iger can convince shareholders that Kathleen Kennedy will turn a profit if a Rey movie is made and released. The failure of the Acolyte has to have soured perceptions of her.

Once again, nothing of value was lost. This indeed is a good day.

Okay I'm calling this. This movie will be a smash hit Billion $ box office. Remember the 3 Star Wars sequel with Rey scored $5 Billion. So it should do well.

So I was the biggest Star wars fan growing up and when I had my three boys I made them watch Star wars so much until they became fanatics. But in the last 5 years maybe 6 years we just gave up no sense in watching it. Two hidden mess and it's just worthless waste of our time and money. It's too bad I was always looking forward to being a Star wars family and now they took that from us

You clearly haven't been following Disney's MO... They don't sink 100's of millions of dollars into a project with a script... They don't get around to writing a script till the 2nd or 3rd series of reshoots...

If the latest Mad Max failed due to the absence of Max, then any shortage of original characters will likely lead to a similar outcome. To be frank, Rey's character is perceived as uninteresting as watching paint dry.

Daisey's health isn't to good, so nope, if it does get moving it'll be like Blade, or Captain Falcon.

What's the point of a "Rey" movie? They already made three of them about her in the squeal trilogy! It played out badly!

Peaky blinders will also have a much lower budget so will be a safer option
