It was fun that you happened to see the high school students that are about to graduate. They dress up in all kinds of costumes for one day and do fun stuff around town. When I graduated 25 years ago we dressed up in very uncomfortable Donald Duck costumes :) Greetings from Akureyri, north Iceland. I'm sure you will get there in a future video.
Excellent video with a professional production feel/flow. Dennis, you should've woken up Liz to see the aurora borealis. As a child, Thelma from Scooby Doo annoyed me because she'd always lose her glasses while the team was in pursuit of some villain.
I've always had a fascination with Iceland, but I know I'll never get there.....but thanks to you guys, I'll get to see it like a tourist!! Thanks for sharing it with us all!!!
We loved Iceland. The hostels we stayed in in Reykjavik were amazing. We also did the whole Ring Road. One thing I found relatively inexpensive in Iceland was coffee, I bought a latte nearly every day at the gas stations. Bonus was our go to while we were there.
It was nice meeting you guys at the Sky Lagoon. Hope your trip was amazing! I still need to edit my videos from my trip. So those kids in costume were celebrating their last day of high school. We met some of them who were getting happy hour drinks.
Hey guys..i lived in KEVLIVAK for 2 yrs..73-74...before you were born..anyway Iceland is an incredible place on this earth...ask about going to a place called thingfolere.(spelling is not correct) but go there its amazing...i cant believe you guys went there...you got to try Icelandic hot dogs(trust me you got to eat one) just do it...
Wow so cool…so much has changed and then…so much not, beautiful!! We lived there for 2yrs in the “80s”….way less crowded. The tourist had not caught on. Enjoy the fish.
Hello you two (our darlings from Florida!) Now you are already half way to Germany. If you want, here is a motorhome ready for you! Big hugs from Marion and Uwe p.s. If you have questions or need tips, we were already 9x on Iceland (with the RV of course).
I'm just gonna say it... I'm (slightly) disappointed that I didn't get to see Dennis eat something... 😥... but I am looking forward to seeing more of this adventure... 🥰
Awesome start to what promises to be a most amazing trip. We're really looking forward to living vicariously thru you while you're there! Honestly yall should be on the travel channel, your videos are that good!! Did you ever learn what the costumes were about?😂
Haha yes we did! It's a night high schoolers go out to party before exams. They all dress up in themes and go all out. Another fun fact is that Icelanders go to high school until they are 20!
I was thinking about your comment about how expensive your first meal in Iceland was. You had three entrees plus coffee. At a trendy restaurant in New York, Toronto, LA, it would actually cost more (in USD) than what you paid in Iceland. Especially now, the price of restaurant meals has gone up substantially. It is shocking. But, if you are going to eat out, you will have to live with it just as you have to live with the new higher price of gas.
Hi Paddy, yes I know other cities are more expensive. But that cost was for 2 breakfast toasts and 2 coffees. Not Dennis's extra plate haha. So it's still quite steep. Rising costs are a reality, but for most cities (aside from LA, NYC, and maybe a few others) this is expensive and helpful to know for others planning a trip here. - Liz
We shower at campgrounds or lagoons when we go (so many more lagoons to visit 😜). Most destinations have toilets on site and there's stops along the road as well. Gas stations or grocery stores too!
Yes I have friends in Norway and that’s where I learned about it but then I saw in Sweden and Denmark as well , it’s like last week of school something like that the do dares and compete with others
$$$$$$ been there , we found it very nice , but way over priced . You can see the same terrain , puffins , lava fields , ice burgs in Newfoundland Canada for less then half the cost...eh
I don't think any two places can exactly offer the same things. As you'll see in this video we experience a lot more than that alone, but yes it's expensive! Haha
