Yeah. It's not just the graphics either. Gameplay is crazy easy and simplistic. Hallway linearity. Story pacing is all over the place. Etc. Shame because they actually had a good idea but they rushed to get it out and the game ended up suffering because of it.
Very sure it would normally be the opposite with a extremely unoptimized game like Pokemon Scarlet/Violet in place of kingdom hearts 3, if you were to go by that original line setup instead. Since i would think eldritch graphics cartoon like graphic mangling certainly looks better then poor man`s attempt to do a weird low poly style for gameplay but forgetting how the fk Low polygon design or extra visual design usually with gradiants or some painting like filter put on top of the character models to give the same design style of valkyria chronicles games went for that made them such a visual appeal`age. Never the less this game feels like its trying to imitate Final Fantasy `interpretation art` with the character portraits too much when it really be better off by NOT having them at all, probably going with more simplistic style `anime` portraits instead. That or just simply go with regular damn 3D models instead so they could of took an insomnium files approach to character convo bits. While also thinking to succ whatever budget it did have out of the graphics quality since not only do they look on the poorer side of a playstation portable level graphics they have this weird handling of stylization like they leaned too damn hard on certain shaders so things like the lips and eyes look too ridiculous. Throw in the fact its throwing way too many numbers all over the place and the gameplay looks way too dull especially when i ATTEMPTED to play the demo itself, this game wouldnt even be worth it even if it hit 90% off. Which i know lowest cost several year old game remakes of a collection of games that still look fking good despite being playstation 2 era games that got brushed up a bit. Dot hack G.U. Last Recode being the best example of such things. Best time waster for several weeks when i got it for 5 bucks and had infinitely more fun then Visions of mana or even any of the assassin`s creed games i played in the past that were still the good ones, because it just had that good feels compared to alot of demos i keep running into. Now if only playstation would freaking put Card n Ciel`s demo on its store page because im having freaking fun with that on Steam and its one of those times im even considering investing in a steam deck to finally shy even MOAR away from from console play after i already ditched the switch over a year ago after how bad pokemon violet was for me and i couldnt even keep any groove of completing tears of the kingdom, due to its own particular annoyances in many other ways.
Welcome to mobile game style approach design where they only have you control one character at a time, never bother to put the effort in for CPUs to have supporting party members and think graphics somehow worst then most BAD playstation portable VANILLA (not Vita) games end up looking even better somehow. Also with how they have the control scheme setup, you can see how they really wanted to copy final fantasy 16`s combat design approach except forget all the bits that make final fantasy 16 combat good for an action centric game with enjoyable simplicity and not some over complicated mechanic of a energy system to force you often into `resting` then actually being able to simutaneously be on the offensive while also avoiding attacks.
