The way I see it, "natural expansion" refers to the location of the base as a map feature rather than the actual order that it's taken in a game.

I've been accompanying you along this journey for a couple of years now, and I've gotta say, thanks to you, people who watch you are tempted to play and get into it eventually. You are singlehandedly creating a user-base for this eco-system. So keep addressing the newcomers, and maybe we still learn a bit of new knowledge or two when we are hearing it again. I genuinely will introduce the next friend i will to sc2 through making us watch the games you casted with your educational commentary

This was one of the most exciting one in awhile. I love when players use alternate builds and tactics. Don't get me wrong, the skill and fine tuning of the main builds is Definitely a force to be wary of... but these are the real matches that push the envelope and evolve the meta.

I would argue it's not the natural expansion because it's taken first, but because of the location. Considering you have to essentially go through the natural to get to the ramp that leads to the main, one could argue the natural basically is part of your main base.

"Natural expansion" suggests an expected first expansion. If we expect the forward base location to be taken first, we could call it a "forward natural," and if we expect the close expansion to be taken first, we can call it a "close natural."

Not so much a terminology question, but something I figured I should point out after years of watching you, Lowko: “Casted” is not a word. The past tense of “cast” is “cast”. Obviously not a big thing because it took me this long to actually comment about it.

Hey @LowkoTV, I'm going to take you by your word and ask something that bothered me since I started watching SC2 in 2020... Not quite a term but more of a concept: We always (you did that more often in the past then nowadays) talk about the massive effect of upgrades when it comes to fast attacking units like the marine or the interceptor. While this is true for when the opponent didn't upgrade their respective armour, but as as soon as the armour is researched, the attack upgrade doesn't make a difference at all anymore, correct? Why are we never talking about the damage increase of hard hitting but less frequently attacking units like the tank or the tempest? They are the only units that do more damage once everything is maxed out, no? I never seem to hear any caster point that out (except for the liberator when it hits attack level 2 and 2-shots stalkers (1-shot when EMP'd)). I always wondered why. And why nobody really emphasizes that in maxed out armies the fast attacking units don't do any more damage than in the early game but instead emphasize how the marine is now maxed out at 3/3 (eventhough it doesn't make a difference against the maxed out zergling f.e.)...

I just thought of how to make ultras actually working. What about give them vampiric? like 10% of hit, made as separate upgrade. It won't kill ghosts and immortals as their counter but will give some survivability for them as they got into melee range

I was recently watching Unknown: Killer robots on Netflix, and there's a clip of Lowko talking about Alphastar in that documentary. They also talked about A.I. working together. that got me thinking, what about a Co-op version of Alphastar to see how it can co-operate with humans, or another team-member, that would be fun to see. Also, I'd love MaxPax to go up against the Alphastar, since he's a 'robot' according to Lowko, or even see how Alphastar phares against Serral, since the meta has changed, people have gotten better, and whatnor.

Ultralisks need one elegant change: The ability to path through small units like lings and banes.

The base next to your main is naturally the spot you would expand next since it’s the closest hence natural explanation. The third wouldn’t be the natural since it’s not the expansion you would naturally take.

Wow. Firtst time I've ever seen ultralisks work out in a pro match. Usually Lowko says, "Oof. Ultralisks. Not a great unit." And then Zerg loses.

For me the standard terminology makes a lot more sense. The one where the natural is called the natural because it is right outside your main base and easily defensible, whether or not it happens to be the first expansion you take is irrelevant.

Hi Lowko, I love your videos! I was wondering why stimpack makes marines shoot twice as fast? Is it just making them more accurate and hit their target more often, or are they just pulling the trigger twice as fast?

It would be good if you also add some extra information of the updates. I watch your videos for a long time but I have never played the game. So, I do not know well how good the upgrades are (I could look at it, I know it, hehe)

In Korean, the natural is called "ammadang," which means "front yard," so the terminology makes a bit more sense.

I have been thinking about one thing when it comes to this third base first kind of deal. Now I am nowhere near a professional starcraft player and the furthest I ever got was diamond league right after LOTV when I was 13. But anyway... Could it not be a pretty good strategic move to wait in taking the natural expansion until you start to fall behind? Just going straight to the forth and so on? Or does the increased distance completely eff that possibility up in the early game thanks to the smaller armies and so on? Because I could really see that as a saving grace if you become soft contained for example, which is the most normal way to start a loosing streak that leads to the GG. On higher levels I know that every single small little thing matters, but I think that would be very interesting to see. Wish I would have played SC2 more instead of grinding Arena rating in WOW instead, would have maybe got the chance to test it out :P Edit: Also thanks for the casts lowko! You are my favorite commentator ever, out of all games, fighting, sports, the news, out of everything. So thank you for your casts! Ultralisks are good units but too expensive or to easily countered they should be reworked or buffed/nerfed in someway so they become more relevant and also broodlords should be changed a bit so people aspire new builds towards these and make new meta and fun tournaments

I've asked this in your comments in the past but never got a response. I don't think you say it in this vid in particular but what do you mean when you say "REEEE". You usually say it when making fun of someone who is/may be complaining about the game/balance.

I dunno, I think calling a non-Korean a foreigner is ok if they're bumbling around with a roadmap in a foreign country, trying to find their SC2 LAN tournament... yea they're a foreigner... but the term is often expanded to international people who aren't Korean when discussing the game and its scene... it's it's kinda hard to rationalize that as not being racist... I mean if it's ok and acceptable racism that's fine... but no need to sugar coat it at that point

This game is absolutely amazing! Despite not being the usual build, the player still managed to achieve a victory with it. It just goes to show that with determination and a unique strategy, anyone can come out on top.

Day 478 of complaining about Colossi Attack Dmg. They should try buffing it to 20+10, at least (or perhaps 30 flat like in WoL); then evaluate and tweak it during the PTR if needed. They just feel so underwhelming for how expensive and "counterable" they are.
