Today we're composite modding an Intellivision. We're not using a pre-built board however, instead building one from scratch using perf board. DIY!

Just wanted to say thanks for making this video, it was very handy for me. I did end up going for a pre-made RCA module (tearing into the RF shield without breaking anything felt like all the challenge I wanted to take on) but this was a great resource to follow along with 👌The first cart I threw in was a dud and had me thinking I'd wired something up wrong, and I was worried I'd be doing some forehead-slapping troubleshooting. Fortunately the second one worked 😁

The prebuild RGB kits are only available on ebay from the US from the creator of those boards.

Hello, can you tell me what desk overhead camera mount you are using? Thanks. Great video BTW.

I have an Intellivision 1 modded for composite and a un-modded Intellivsion 3 that just uses the RF port and quality is really good on both with zero difference in quality side by side. I was actually shocked how good the RF signal is so maybe the later machines had better components. I also have a un-modded Intellivision 2 and the comparing both un-modded consoles you can see a huge difference with the Intellivision 3 having a much higher quality than the Intellivision 2.

Love the console modding videos (although a side-by-side comparison would've been awesome 😛). Nice work!

Thanks. As for the video quality, there is only so much you can do for a 40-year-old console, but it removes the static and makes the colours more vibrant. It would be interesting to compare composite to RGB, however.

@@retrogameon I suppose RGB would look considerably nicer but anything is better than RF really. 😀 I'm quite happy with my 2600 composite mod, my Jr. has quite bad static.
