Mate, this on my big screen made me feel like going on an adventure!! I felt a bit Camel Trophy-ish at times! Is that weird? 👀 Loved the contrast between the deep "jungles" and muddy trails from the beginning and the tougher climbs and roots in the second half. Great vid, mate. As it's been said in the comments, can't wait for more actual (lol) FPV driving videos. RGT definitely has a great contender here, but I'm with you on the GS02F for the best all-rounder.

@@RCTNT Can I ask you a question about durability? As my LHS here on the west coast of Canada don't carry RGT I can't physically hold it and get a sense of its potential durability. Having put it through its paces, would you say that it's a solidly made truck? Any issues?
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
@@WestyCoastHermit sure. It's good. Not as solid as a trx4 but not too different. The front link design isn't ideal, as noted in my review videos, where the axle can rotate a bit more than ideal, but overall it's a legit option for a reliable rig. Also there are no hugely unique parts on it, so I'd expect to be able to replace broken bits with parts from other trucks. (The axles are *really* similar to TRX4 axles, for example - I bet you could replace internals 1:1 and it'd work).

Plenty of that stuff, don't worry! But the population is mostly along the east coast, plus bits of south and west south coast. Desert and arid areas make up much of the center. The movies are accurate based on land, but not representative of populated areas!

How did you finally end up waterproofing the rgt's receiver box? Thanks
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
Waterproof the rx inside with a bag, cable ties and a glob of hot glue where the wires go through the bag opening. Then, lid bag on top. The box is not a box, just a cover, so I'd not try to waterproof that itself.

Was the stabilising done in processing or was it some kind of gimble the camera was on?
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
I don't need to stabilise anything on my channel thanks to my gopro cameras. I have an 8 and 10. The time lapse was done on my Gopro Hero 10 Black. I would have done video with it too, but the battery just doesn't last more than about 20 minutes with the 'hyperboost' feature enabled (lens moves as a gimble to stabilise the image, plus it takes 5.3k photos and video then crops to 4k on the fly to stabilise - takes substantial battery to pull that off!) It was evidently using hyperboost for the time lapse too, given how it seems to be shifting above the bumper - that's the camera keeping things smooth. There's a lot of computer wizardry going on in that little black case!
@mattmanix5104
@mattmanix5104 2 года назад
@@RCTNT That's incredible. I can't belive they put that kind of technology in a device that small and relatively inexpensive. I remember being hugely disappointed with the original Hero HD and I've never bought one since.
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
@@mattmanix5104 they're getting better and better, but they can't get around materials limitations. Battery life and battery discharge heat are still Archilles' heel level of challenge for the cameras, but their tech is undoubtedly impressive. This whole channel is filmed on GoPro 8 and 10 :)

Craig are you driving two trucks? I enjoyed the truck view. Definitely looking wet. When it’s wet and slippery that’s one of my favorite times. Not a big fan of just driving in deep water. Maybe because I’m lazy and when I do I always feel like I got to take my truck apart good. Dry it and oil it’s bearings
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
Lol no, believe it or not I have a friend or two who are into crawling! We found some time during the day for once and got out there. Weather was perfect! Maintenance: don't worry, I hosed the Rescuer right down after I got home. Externally it's super clean now. I can't see internally so that means it's factory new and ready for the next run! Woohoo!
@danweiss4928
@danweiss4928 2 года назад
@@RCTNT I am sure you have plenty of friends. But having time to get out and have fun seems to be the hardest part. Just for a little fun information you said my RC4WD winch controller wasn’t gonna last long. I used it twice over the weekend at a competition. Then I used it on my workbench trying to lower the wench. And smoke shot through a melted hole in the cover. I picked up a couple of 1060 speed controllers. So we will fix that in no time. Thanks like always you are a big help.
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
Oh no! I'm sorry to be right on this one. RC4WD have always given me excellent after sales support - but I've needed it a few times over the years and mainly for electronics not going the distance. Sounds like you've got it all under control anyway!

So how durable is the Rescuer after all this time? Also does anyone make an interior for it?
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
It's pretty good. The shifting servo needed a little help with alignment after the muddy run but its the only problem I've had. Pulling the axles apart recently after the wet run with no follow-up maintenance and the amount of grease in there meant there was minimal moisture and no rust around bearing seals etc. Still runs smoothly throughout. I'm pretty happy with it. Haven't looked into an interior as yet but there are cheap lexan options on aliexpress, such as the injora TRX4 interior. It remains one of the more fun vehicles in my collection :)
@DansRcAdventures
@DansRcAdventures 2 года назад
Looks a bit wet down there 😆 What truck do you think did it the best ? And what differences did you notice.?
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
Good questions. The TRX4 did everything a little more easily than the Rescuer. It's a better crawler, though it had upgrades and tyres that are well suited to muddy terrain (the Proline Super Swampers). That said, both rigs are surprisingly similar in how they move over obstacles. Both are similar in size and weight and both are quite fun on the trail. The 5A 2S TRX4 battery hit LVC about 80% through the run. The Rescuer's 6.2A 2S lipo was at 7.55v after we were done. I think the sightly higher turn motor in the Rescuer meant better runtime, obvious capacity difference notwithstanding. Overall I can honestly say I'd be happy with either on a muddy trail run like this one. The steering servo in the Rescuer is better than the stock trx4 steering servo, but on balance, its radio receiver and light controller aren't waterproofed from factory, so maybe those things even out if comparing the two. Personal preference perhaps.

Thanks for the update. I'll keep looking for a way to get the rescuer. It's off course a bit hard to see on the video which one did it the best. So appreciate your opinion on this. 👍🏼👍🏼
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
I wasn't really doing a comparison here, but the TRX4 did better. Mind you it has a bunch of upgrades. In stock form they'd be pretty similar. I'm trying to get hold of an Absima Sherpa and a Yikon whatever it is - they're all similar on paper. Hoping to do a comparison later in the year.
@DansRcAdventures
@DansRcAdventures 2 года назад
@@RCTNT year I know. But you still see them driving them side by side. 😄 The Americans have rebranded it too can't remember the name. But I think the Sherpa is driving better. Maybe is not 100% as good when it comes to extreme crawling but it's close. But for trail is absolutely think the Sherpa is better.
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 года назад
@@DansRcAdventures I own three trx4 and one trx6. I can honestly say the TRX4 Defender and RGT Rescuer are the two most fun handling trail trucks I've ever had. The way they move over obstacles is just satisfying. I really need to get my hands on these other rigs if I can. I'm sure it'd be a useful and interesting comparison! Cheers

Thanks! The video was from some old mini dv sports camera. Only 1080p and the data rate is low, like 30MBps. I tried looking it up on banggood for you but I bought it enough years ago that it isn't even in my purchase history anymore! Suffice to say, any tiny 4k sports camera for $30 or $40 on banggood will be similar at worst, and hopefully a lot better!

I found the model, it's SQ12 Sport Camera. However, it isn't listed on BG anymore and I don't know how much it was. I think maybe it was more than I thought. I had a look around and this is the closest thing I found that I bet will be similar in quality, though higher resolution (they may fake the 4k - I don't know if so, but it may only be a 1080p camera-still fine though) [AU$69.52 19% OFF]Q3H Sports Action Camera DV Wifi 4K 2.7K 2 Inch Screen 170 Degree Wide Angle Lens Photography & Camera Acc from Consumer Electronics on banggood banggood.onelink.me/zMT7/e3zu034u

I've got a mini dvd cube on the way and a go pro clone just arrived but my next question is how did you mount them? I've got a few ideas including straps and magnets but I get the feeling most of them will either put too much strain on the body or push the camera too high up. Why everybody copied the go pro case I will never know! For most things, we don't need enough waterproofing to go scuba diving, just a low profile and lightweight mount that's perhaps splash-proof.
