Rhaenys was a bit bitchy in this scene but she told Rhaenyra the cold truth. Rhaenys was the character with the most realistic view on the world they are living in. She was neither impulsive nor cruel, she should have been Queen after Jaehaerys. This was probably the first time that Rhaenyra realized the gravity of her unfavorable position.
She honestly was the only one preparing Rhaenyra for any type of pushback when she took the throne. Viserys never did that, the greens certainly wouldn’t want to do that. Rhaenys was the only one to tell her like it is
It was a necessary cold truth. Some people need that. She needed to hear it from Rhaenys. She was the one whose words counted in this situation. Viserys had no sons at at the point wherre he wanted to make her the heir, he should have prepared her for battle. Giving her responsibilities so the men saw her strength, the ones that would mirror Rhaenys strength. Rhaenys who was well respected. Instead, he was busy remarrying and making things complicated by marrying a Hightower too. 😢
AGREE! But she never turn her back on Raeynera or Viserys. Despite the fact that the Crown was rob from her. She and her house remained fierced oyal to Raeynera and Viserys and she selflessly sacrifice her life. She was very wise w/ great wisdom and reasonable Targaryen Princess. And that's what I admired about her so much. RIP PRINCESS RAENEYS AND RED QUEEN MELEYS. 😢😢😢
@@vangu2918 The only person that truly fought for Rhaenys was Corlys, and my god I so agree she should have been made queen. Perhaps in another universe 🫶🏻
@@keetz4237no, there were multiple entrances and exits. The writers didn't think about it, they literally said "we needed a cool scene" and made that happen 🙄
@@beeeeeesburyshe also has no sensible reason to do that, but not end the war immediately. "It's not for me to do!" But you're going to side with Rheanyra anyway. Your grandchildren depend on it. She could have saved so many lives including her own.
I think the most touching thing is that Rhaenys knew the truth about the world but anyway decided to fight for Rhaenyra and died for her right, maybe she knew the truth, but she also wanted to believe in a dream or idea of better ruler and better world
The problem is, Rhaenys is the better ruler not Aegon not Rhaenyra but her. Aegon was bad, but he had better politic parties that at least made him win, and he tried to be good but also was in war so he could not. Rhaenyra was bad in every shape and form not gonna lie! She was stupid when it comes to politics and Daemon told her, she was not the best fighter, she increased taxes that damaged her own supporting people. Rhaenys should RULE
@@hessa2838 sure Rhaenys was the best option ALWAYS, but in the show Rhaenyra is better than Aegon, she also means change and - in comparison to others - seeks peace and sees the consequences of war Rhaenys is THE queen, Rhaenyra in books had nothing but Viserys's love, but in show she was enough to make Rhaenys believe in something again and in my opinion that's quite touching
Rhaenys was honest with the second woman to find herself about to be passed over for the throne. She didn't want to hurt Rhaenyra. She didn't want her to be devastated when the inevitable happened.
She didn’t want to “elicit anger” from Rhaenyra. She wanted to warn her so that she could mentally prepare for the inevitable reality and NOT get angry when the time comes.
Rhaenys hard forsight in what would happen, she saw it would hard been better if her daughter married Visery be it questionable, but the contention of the throne would have perhaps less contentious not leading to war
@@troller8680Let's be real. If she did that she'd be a kinslayer x 3. Daemon would be happy about it, Rhaenyra would be horrified, as would many lords and the smallfolk. Rhaenyra would end up having to send her to the wall or execute her to save face.
@@propogandalfAemond is killing his family like a bugs and trying to kill Aegon for his own benefit and... Nobody doesn't care.Nobody told him that he is murderer and kinslayer to his face.He didn't even apologize to Heleana at least for her son.It was his mistake that caused it.Aemond is pathetic and more than Aegon and that say a lot 😂.
The easiest way to fix this would be to raise the young princes with the understanding that the Realm is wrong and they owe their sister their fealty. It's what younger sons are taught 🤷🏽
That's not how a feudal monarchy works. The Targaryens are kings because the realm allows them to be. The Targs adopted Westerosi customs and the faith of the Seven to ensure the realm would not dispose of them. To placate and suck up to lords and ladies. Going against tradition would see the entire family dead in a generation or two.
As we are seeing now the men in power would have never allowed it regardless. They planned a coup even while believing Viserys never changed his mind on the succession.
Rhaenys spoke her mind, told the truth, and was clear where her loyalties lie. She wasn't cruel, but she was no pushover either. Dragon rider or not characters like her don't last long in this world 🥺
Rhaenys look so cool. The Targaryen felt like a clan with extended family with main family and extended line back then rather than just a small inbred family
If only Rhaenyra heeded her warnings by gaining allies instead of fleeing to Dragonstone, her claim wouldn't have been as contested so easily and she would've been aware of Viserys' death sooner
She did gather allies. The majority of the realm sided with her. The Crownlands sided with her BECAUSE she ruled the Princedom of Dragonstone. She HAD allies at Court. The Greens killed them, remember? In the books, it was Viserys who sent her to dragonstone. In the show, Alicent cut her off every time she made a move in King's Landing and was actively abusing and endangering her. Not to mention how we get CONFIRMATION that the Greens would have murdered Rhaenyra in her sleep had she stayed in KL. Rhaenyra didn't overplay her hand. The GREENS did. Rhaenyra's mistake was in assuming the Greens understood that she had the upper hand, and that they wouldn't start a war they couldn't win without resorting to desperate tactics and mutually assured destruction. That's why Rhaenys's speech is bitter, not wise. Because the realm DID expect Rhaenyra to be queen.
I wonder what the Greens would have done if Alicent only gave Viserys daughters instead of any sons. Then, to keep a pen¡s on the throne, their choices would have been Daemon, whom Otto would have never accepted, Laenor, or Rhaenyra's sons that were rumored bastards. Either way, the Hightowers wouldn't get their way then to put their blood on the throne.
@@jedimasters1462Interesting scenario to ponder. I was wondering if Viserys accepted Laena as his new wife (🤢) and she only had 2 daughters as she did with Daemon. What moves would be made by the Greens or anyone else? Maybe Otto would have tried to marry Alicent to Daemon out of desperation and have those children vie for the throne?
Honestly tho if Viserys married Laena and they had a boy, the Seasnake would have done anything for that boy to usurp Rhaenyra too, but marrying Alicent ain't good either
It's crazy how even after all the signs and warnings rhaenyra got she kept messing around with daemon in public, letting harwing clap her cheeks and 3 times she gave birth to his bastard children, leaving kings landing and her father to the hightowers, I'm team black and the greens are insufferable but I can't deny that rhaenyra was a horny hypocrite in her teens
@@Ariii443 that's not the case and if it was she would've stopped after jaece instead she produced two more brown heads which made it obvious that she was messing around with someone else besides her husband, in the books she was close with daemon and laena and laena knew daemon wanted rhaenyra she could've had daemon's children then if that was the case however after she realized her mistakes she told daemon she needs some silver heads, if you want my opinion she should've told viserys about laenor's true nature before marrying him that way daemon would've been the only solution left
@@adelbechtoula baby that was the case. This is not the books, this is the show. In the show she wasn’t even close with leana. She never told daemon she needs sliver hair kids. She needed him by her side for the war that she know was coming. And even if leana agreed to share daemon the kids woulda still looked odd. Because they wouldn’t have Leanor skin color.
I'm honestly surprised Rhaenys threw in for Rhaenyra. Rhaenys was the heir apparent and got passed over only because she wasn't male. Rhaenyra was only heir presumptive, and lost it when Viserys had sons. You'd think a person who graciously gave up the throne to keep the realm stable would've been opposed to one who insisted on the throne despite how it divided the realm.
rhaenyra’s bitchy look and sarcasm when she said “laena’s your daughter does it bother you?” 😏 and to watch her face drop and pretentiousness instantly leave her body when rhaenys says “of course it does”
Tbh I would’ve been bother if my cousin who got my throne was forcing my daughter to marry him and forcing his aged body on her to produce more heir🤷♀️ like I wouldn’t care about a title at that point more than my daughter’s sanity, and Rhaenys LOVED her daughter so idk why she was disappointed here😂🤷♀️ I wouldn’t want my daughter to suffer next to her uncle husband 🤷♀️
When she had this conversation with Rhaenyra, Laena was talking to the King. Rhaenys was indeed upset about their possible union, not the fact that he passed over her for Alicent. Corlys was the one upset about that.
If only Rhaenyra had listened back then, maybe things wouldn't be so bad now and Rhaenys and Meleys might still be alive.😢😢 RIP To Princess Rhaenys Targaryen The Queen Who Never Was 👸🏼👑 🥂🥂🥂
Rhaenys did everything she could to spare Rhaenyra the burden of the throne, and the responsibility of it being seated by a woman. The throne seemed oftentimes sentient to the ways of the ASOIAF universe, the order of things as Rhaenys implied here. Viserys did his best to do what he feels is right, and I do not blame him for what led to the dance. In fact it was bound to happen either way. The prince that was promised had to be born of the conquerors own, and Rhaenyra might not have been deemed worthy by the throne, but she is a necessary link to the would be prince. The tragedy was required.
They went from this Rhaenys who is smart, cunning and witty to the Rhaenys we got killing innocent citizens, sparing the greens and then going on a suicide mission with Melys when they could’ve flown back to Dragonstone. Good writing lol
I find it so incredible how viserys could've stopped the dance in so many ways, but chose the wrong choices every time. Man, i love the guy, but come on!
I don't understand why the Tygaryens shackled themselves to this law while they still had so many dragons. If they decided girls could rule, what would the rest of Westeros do about it if they threatened to unleash their dragons on them? Unless deep down the men of the Tygaryen clan might have found it convenient for them to keep it in place. That way, there was less contenders for power.
Она сказала это одной, она сказала то же другой...и оказалась права. Рейнира борется за право сидеть на троне до сих пор, а Алисенту от правления отодвинул сын.
The younger Rhaenyra was so much better of an actress imo. Partly the writers have done worse drawing out the older Rhaenyra’s character but still. Younger Rhaenyras acting felt much more dynamic
if the greens didn't usurp the throne and actually supported rhaenyra I don't think what rhaenys was saying would happen. The only reason why aegon is being supported by the other houses is because their side has dragons too therefore they stand a chance of rebellion. No rebellion would stand if the greens just supported rhaenyra who was named heir by viserys.
The fake feminism from both GoT and HotD is gross. These strong, powerful female characters all end up either manipulated by the men in their lives until they themselves lack all previous morals or they die. And after they die a man inevitability ends up on the throne.
