To all people, who say something like "how can you give this to children as a treat" "how can you even eat this" The "black goo" is actually burnt caramel(sugar).
They scooped our lunches out of a bucket with an ice cream scooper and just plopped it down on the tray. It held the shape of the scooper and made such a nasty sound when hit the tray. I swear I probably could have turned my tray upside down and the food probably wouldn't have moved an inch. If there was one place Gordon Ramsey showed up it should have been our school, he would have had a mental break down.
Really? Sugar is very flammable. After all sugar is just carbohydrates aka a carbon base with lots of hydrogen tails, and as we all know Hydrogen is VERY flammable. When you burn sugar, the heat breaks the hydrocarbon bonds allowing for the hydrogen to burn freely. This is why when a sugar plant or factory catches fire, it is very very dangerous because those sugar particles can be released in the air while still on fire and spread all around lighting smaller fires.

Awesome, and one of the comments below (about the Pop Rocks and soda urban legend) made me think of the geysers you can make with Mentos (and other candies that can nucleate) and soda, and that made me wonder about RHNB in a jug of soda pop?
