Not only that - Calafiori is a perfect fit for Liverpool, whilst Yoro is not (which is why I can’t understand our interest in him). Calafiori is an established top player already, so moving to us to be a back up to VVD is going to be a hard sell. I think we need to make it clear to him that he will initially be cover for both VVD and Robbo - which will increase his game time. We also need to assure him that we would have liked to rest Virg a lot more in the past, but we simply had nobody to do it - so he will now be rested more often. And of course the big carrot is being Virg’s successor (assuming he plays to the required standard) in a couple of years. Yoro is right footed and right sided, so if he stays there then he clashes head on with Konate and Quansah and to a lesser extent with Gomez. If he moves to the left side then wtf are we paying money like this for someone who has never played there ? Either way, it is insanity. Califiori all day long - assuming we can persuade him to come here.

The best Italian players did not go to the Premier league. Serie A was the best league for many decades, so the best Italians had no reason to leave. Italians don't move, just like the English didn't move. Alot of the ones who did leave & went to England weren't the best. Zola did great, Vialli did well. Baggio, Pirlo, Cannavaro, Nesta, Buffon, Del Piero, Totti to name a few did not go to PL. The premium Italian talent did not go England. Same way England best didn't go to Italy. An Italian can't then predict a top English talent would struggle because English players haven't done much in Serie A. Platt (good), Gascoigne (flop), Ince (good) Abraham (solid), Tomori (solid) Smalling (solid) are the examples of English talent in Serie A. Thats hardly England best players or mostly premium talent. Ince was quality, Platt was good, Gascoigne inconsistent. Calafiori is considered next best upcoming CB along with Scalvini. Usually the best talents stay in Italy, many suprised he's leaving Serie A. Bonnuci was desperate for him to go Juventus & said he will be a point of reference for Italian CB in next 15 years. Juventus wanted him with Motta there & tried to hijack a deal, Real Madrid tried to hijack the deal after losing Yoro.

He is 6'2" plenty tall enough and is good with the ball at his feet , perfect for us.

@@fahedal-ajmi4015 he isn't. And his aerial ability is good although it's his ability using the ball, passing etc that sets him above others and versatility to play other positions is a plus too. Research it🤷
